It was winter but it seemed like it was only early winter as there had only been frost and no snow yet. The trees in the forest were bare and the fallen leaves crinkled beneath his bear feet, the body Chin-hae was in now had calloused feet from all the labor 'he' had done while a slave making it much less painful when walking on the dirt and stones.
After following the stream until the sun was setting Chin-hae was getting tired, while his stamina had improved a bit over the past week with the food he ate, things like this needed time. When he had just begin to debate where he should settle for the night he came across signings of a fight.
Following the broken under bush and blood he found a carriage that had broken down, it was brown and had black lineing it lay on its side the 2 front wheels broken the glass shattered. There were no body's in site but there was blood, it seemed they had run from whatever attacked them but the carriage had fully broken down after...
'Seeing as there is nobody here it must mean that whoever was in here escaped or someone helped them the chances that a town is near is also very high..this is good news even more so if i can find anything in here!'
-A little while later-
Walking away from the wreckage in high spirts was Chin-hae. Inside the carriage he had found both women's and men's cloths and while his body looked to only be around 13 or 15 he was able to secure them properly. Besides the clothing he found a purse of coins, since it was decorated in flowers he had assumed it had been the lady's, while it had money it wasn't much.
'I bet the man carried the other money on him, but besides this i now have a bag to carry my pens and what money i do have, but the real jackpot is the bag of books!'
While the 'him' of the past couldn't read the him now could! While he didn't understand the language he had fully mixed with the past memory's of the body meaning he could sound out words and match them to ones he found in the books. So, that night by the weak light of the fire he began to teach himself how to read and write.
It was now 2 weeks and 5 days since he arrived at this new world, and after a week of traveling he had arrived at a town. The only word he would use to describe it was this, SMALL. It actually came as a bit of a shock, since he was so used to the big concrete jungles of his past world this town look pitifully small.
When he entered the town he immediately went to the clothing shops picking out proper winter clothing, that carriage while it had cloths they were already out of season so he had been layering them on.
So after successfully buying cloths that fit him and a thick fur cloak he left. While he was there he had finally gotten a good look at his face and was thoroughly surprised. 'He' looked almost exactly like 'his' mother when she was younger. With thick black hair and grey eyes but his were stormy and cold with a hidden misery in his eyes.
-The 'him' means the previous body's owner-
From what he remembered 'his' mother was a prostitute and his father a farmer, his mother was never home and was rather at the brothel or some other mans house. After having 'him' she hardly looked at 'him' and if she wasn't sending money home every once in a while he would have forgotten her existence. 'His' father would beat 'him' up to the extent that 'he' could hardly stand, and 'his' father also drunk, which was wear 'he started drinking and playing around just, and it just happened to be on some of those occasions that 'he' got tattooed and 'his' ears pierced. When 'he' had gotten home 'he' couldn't leave the house for over a month because of his broken bones.
'My top priority is to get money or some sort of job so i can find food and a place to stay. Maybe i should look around for a inn?'
As he was thinking someone grabbed his shoulder, he grit his teeth as that was the shoulder he had dislocated just 2 weeks ago, the bruises had only just begun to heal. He turned to look at whoever grabbed him but paused when he saw who it was.
Although the corridor had been dark at that time he had still been able to see the 7 men who had entered to a extent, his eyes had adapted to the dark the days he spent in that cell. They were all wearing the same symbol that this knight had one.
Just thinking of the cell made his body involuntarily flinch 'he' had been horribly beaten and starved by that fat man. It had become a fuel for both 'his' nightmares and Chin-hae's. His eyes deepened and frost seemed to exclude from his skinny body. In the weeks he had been traveling his muscle have improved and his height had shot up, while not by a lot it was at least a inch. The hollowness in his face had yet to leave so with his new bit of hight and his sharp frosty eyes he stared at the man who grabbed him looking quiet frightening.
" O-oh, excuse me, i would like to ask you if you had seen any slaves around here.."
Chin-hae reaches up and pulled the mans hand from his shoulder and stepped back to observe him. The man was dressed in a uniform that appeared to be part of the military. After a short pause Chin-hae finally asked,
"Why are you looking for a slave? Some sort of business with them?"
While he didn't want the knight to mark him as a possible target who had seen a slave he was sure that the one they were looking for was himself this was information he needed the pros out weighed the cons.
The knight paused a second and studied him for a moment before saying,
"No matter whoever they were they left the slave trading house and we are looking for them because a escaped slave would have no way to live without help."
If it were anyone else they probably would have been touched but not Chin-hae, to him it couldn't sound more like a load of bullshit, if anything they wanted to know how he escaped from his cell or they wanted to sell him off again, perhaps they were even worried that 'the runaway' slave would use his knowledge to do something bad. Besides when has any one chase down a slave for over 2 weeks just to give them a good life? Nobody cared shit about slaves.
Either way it wouldn't end up well, so Chin-hae merely shook his head before saying in a even tone,"Well, i hope you fine them, and help them i will keep a look out for anyone suspicious and report to..." He paused and looked at the knight. The knight simply smiled and said, "Just find a knight and they will help, thank you for keeping a look out."
Chin-hae nodded before disappearing into the crowd the knights startled cry behind him.
' Run!run! I messed up, i messed up! I need to get out of here, i forgot that my sleeves didn't cover my wounds, he must have seen them, it was probably the same reason that he didn't say who was looking for the 'runaway salve'... That knight was smarter than i thought. I bet he was worried i would avoid them..'
Chin-hae sighed.
'I guess i'm sleeping outside again... where should i get food? I haven't had meat in so long.. It's fine to go and buys some food when i entered the village there weren't any knights...I'll just have to be quick.'
Dashing past all the people as fast as he could he made sure to lose the knights site before stopping at the food stalls that were opened by passing merchants.
"Hello, i'd like to buy 5 prices of dry meat along with 3 of those." Chin-hae said pointing to the star fruit he had eaten in his cell. Different from before they were much glosser and firm.
The merchants smiled and said,"Well there lad, if you buy some bread too i'll discount you." Chin-hae frowned but still bought all the food, just as he was digging through his bag for the remaining of his copper coins he saw something out of the corner of his eye.
'There's 1, no there's 3!' Three different knights were slowly making there way through the crowd each at slowly closing in from different directions.
'This is bad! I need to go! Who knows what they will do if the get me!'
Without waiting a second to spare he slid under the merchants cart and dashed behind him into a nearby ally.
"HEY! MY MONEY!YOU FORGOT MY MONEY!THEIF THEIF!" The red faced round merchants yelled after him attracting the attention of the knights who know noticed that there target was missing.
" HE-"
"What in the-"
"Hurry up!-"
As Chin-hae ran he heard a thunder of steps behind him and the shouting of the 3 knights as they rushed past the merchant and down the ally following the quick figure. As he ran he tried to lose the knights dashing down different paths and in between houses but it was all for nught.
'Shit! Just who's knights are these?! What in the world is with there training?!' Even while running he could tell that the knights pace was steady and not rushed from breath, they also were working well to stay in a formation that let them easily pass through the small ally's and staying right on his back.
Chin-hae ignored the cry's of the knights pleading with him to stop so they could 'talk things out'.
The village fence was right up ahead, checking his bag he grabbed the remaining 2 coppers throwing them to the ground then leaping up onto the fences side using his fingers to pry inbetween the logs, holding himself up.
Thoroughly out of breath because while the knights had trained and were eating well, he had not eaten a full meal for the entirety of 'his' life. He paused at the top of the fence catching his breath.
He had shimmed up reaching the top just as the knights reached the bottom. Pulling his hood down further he shouted down,
"Those coins are for the merchant!" He yelled at the knights below he swiveled his body before leaping over and making a mad dash pass the other people entering and leaving the village.
