Sentinel: An Irish Vigilante Tale

Darren never asked for powers. One night, he just woke up different, stronger, faster, sharper. No origin. No serum. Just changed. And like most things in his life, he didn’t have time to figure it out. Now 19, juggling university, a part-time job, and the constant chaos inside his ADHD-fueled brain, John lives two lives: one as a quiet, awkward student of English and mythology, and the other as Sentinel, Ireland’s first and only vigilante. Armed with nothing but grit and homemade gear Sentinel stalks Dublin’s backstreets, taking down gang thugs, shielding the innocent, and trying to keep his head down. But staying hidden gets harder when a recording of him in a brutal alley fight against some thugs goes viral, and the internet lights up with comparisons to Captain America himself. Now S.H.I.E.L.D. is watching. Author’s Note Alright, so quick thing before you dive in, don’t take any of this too seriously, yeah? I’m mostly writing this to blow off steam and shake loose some brain clutter while I’m stuck on another project. If you're here for a grounded-ish superhero story with Irish vibes and ADHD nonsense, you’re in the right spot. I started writing this because I realised… there are basically no Irish superheroes. And that just felt wrong. So I made one. Problem solved. Also, superheroes are class. If you enjoy it, cool! Tell me what you liked, what you didn’t like. I’m genuinely open to suggestions and constructive criticism on where the story should go. I’ve got a rough idea of where the story’s going, but honestly I’m winging it a bit, so throw suggestions at me, I’m very open to chaos. Important note before you dive in: This is not an overpowered main character. He’s more “Irish Steve Rogers” than anything else y'know super soldier levels of strength, speed, agility, etc. Strong, fast, durable, bit of a weapon, but still very human. That’s it. He’s not a god, not a genius, and absolutely not one of those hyper-edgy, cold-blooded masterminds. He’s awkward. A bit of a dumbass sometimes. But his heart’s in the right place. He just wants to help. Hope you enjoy.

I Awakened A Divine Curse

To most, Death is the end—a merciless enemy that tears you away from everything you fought to protect. But for Auren, Death is a friend. The only one who refused to abandon him when the world did. And worse still? In his case, death only makes him stronger. Auren was a prodigy—the pride of the Western State of Lysendral. Graduating combat school at twelve, his mental fortitude unmatched, he was hailed as the star of a generation. All eyes turned to him, awaiting the moment he would receive a Divine Blessing from the Archons and begin his destined rise as the strongest Blessed in history. But when the day came, Auren awakened not a Blessing—but a Curse. "Such a thing has never been heard of!" "An abomination! Kill him! Sacrifice him to the Archons!" In a single breath, the world that once adored him cast him aside. Labeled a national criminal, he was imprisoned and executed by guillotine at the age of sixteen—offered as a sacrifice to stave off doom. And the people cheered as the blade fell. But death was not the end for Auren. [You have died by execution.] [Conditions Have Been Met] [You have entered the Curse Realm] [You have found a Fester] [You shall begin your first trial] Torn from death’s grip, Auren rises—stronger, darker, and filled with vengeance. No longer content to merely destroy the nation that betrayed him, he sets his sights on the Archons themselves. Yet, in a world built on hidden truths and ancient lies, Auren must ask: “Is he truly cursed... or was he chosen?”
