Chapter 65 - Chapter 65

The director's secretary rushed into the luxurious private room of the club with several colleagues. Inside, Hospital Director Wang was sprawled across the sofa, snoring loudly as he slept.

Secretary Chen's face turned grim. He strode forward and gave Hospital Director Wang a few hard slaps on the shoulder, but the man didn't react at all. He continued snoring away.

Seeing this, Secretary Chen's brows furrowed deeply. He turned, picked up a glass of water from the nearby table, and without hesitation splashed it straight onto Hospital Director Wang's face.

Water flew everywhere. Hospital Director Wang jolted upright as if shocked by electricity. He sat up suddenly, his eyes wide open as he shouted angrily, "Who… who the hell splashed water on me!"

He looked completely enraged and shocked, like someone whose last nerve had just been hit.

"I did." Secretary Chen raised his chin slightly. His lips moved coldly, and his voice was like shards of ice, sharp and chilling.

Hospital Director Wang looked up in the direction of the voice. Still groggy and annoyed, his expression quickly changed when he saw who it was. His face lit up with a fake, flattering smile.

"Secretary Chen, what brings you here?"

Secretary Chen let out a cold snort. The disdain in his tone was completely unfiltered and cut straight into Hospital Director Wang.

"Director Wang, you've really got some nerve. Everything is on fire back at the hospital, and you're still out here enjoying yourself?"

"The hospital's in chaos because of your scandal. It's a complete mess!"

Hospital Director Wang looked completely confused. His eyes filled with doubt as he asked, "Secretary Chen, what's going on?"

Secretary Chen noticed the phone tossed to the side of the sofa. He reached over, grabbed it, and threw it at Hospital Director Wang without patience.

"Just open your Weibo and see for yourself!"

"The director and all the hospital's senior staff are waiting for you. You'd better start thinking about how to clean up this disaster!"

Hospital Director Wang fumbled with the phone, his fingers trembling as he opened Weibo. What he saw made his face go pale. His recordings and videos were all over the platform. The content was scandalous, and every word he'd said in private had been fully exposed.

Cold sweat dripped down his forehead. He stammered as he tried to explain, "Secretary Chen, this… this isn't real. It's all a misunderstanding. Someone must have set me up!"

His voice was anxious, and his eyes were filled with panic and unwillingness.

But Secretary Chen didn't care. His face was full of fury, like a volcano about to erupt.

"Misunderstanding? Save it for the director. You're coming back with me to the hospital now."

Without another word, Secretary Chen turned and walked out.

As they reached the door, ready to leave, a timid waiter who had been waiting nearby stepped forward quickly. He bowed slightly and said in a soft voice, "Sir, you can't leave yet. You haven't settled your bill."

Though quiet, his words hit Hospital Director Wang like a hammer.

"What?" Hospital Director Wang's eyes went wide with shock, as if he couldn't believe what he'd just heard.

Secretary Chen glared at him, voice sharp and irritated with a trace of helplessness. "We'll be waiting outside. Hurry up and pay."

Hospital Director Wang's brow was tightly knit, his face full of frustration. Clenching his teeth, he asked the waiter, "How much?"

"Sir, your total is eighty-seven thousand six hundred yuan," the waiter replied respectfully, head slightly lowered.

"What? That much?" Hospital Director Wang's voice rose sharply. His face was filled with disbelief. His fists clenched tightly, knuckles turning white from the pressure.

"Yes, sir. The itemized bill is right here. You can take a look," the waiter said politely, handing over the receipt.

Hospital Director Wang was seething with anger. It felt like a wild beast was crashing around in his chest, and he wanted to tear everything in front of him apart.

But given the situation, even with all his rage and frustration, he could only swallow it. Gritting his teeth, he took out his wallet and unwillingly paid the bill with his card.

After paying the bill, Hospital Director Wang walked out of the club. He looked up at the gloomy sky that threatened rain. His teeth clenched as he forced out a few words through gritted teeth: "Joshua, this isn't over between us!"

Assistant Chen followed closely behind, his face serious as they rushed back to the hospital.

The hallway lights were cold and pale, casting a sterile glow over their contrasting expressions.

Assistant Chen kept his eyes forward, expression sharp and stern. Hospital Director Wang was filled with anxiety. His steps were unsteady, like a prisoner walking toward his execution.

When they reached the meeting room, Assistant Chen didn't hesitate. He raised his hand and pushed open the heavy door.

The creaking sound broke the heavy silence in the room. Conversations stopped instantly. Several pairs of eyes turned toward the door.

Assistant Chen gave a small bow and nodded subtly at the director, sending him a meaningful look.

The director understood at once. His face darkened, and he shouted angrily, "Hospital Director Wang, get in here!"

The anger in his voice made Hospital Director Wang's eardrums ache. His body trembled involuntarily.

On the way there, his thoughts had been a chaotic mess. He kept trying to think of how to defend himself, but his mind was tangled and nothing made sense.

Now, he took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. He forced a fake smile and stepped into the room. "Director, everyone, good afternoon."

But his messy hair, wrinkled clothes, and the awkward image of his wig missing—all showed just how disheveled and embarrassed he was.

He walked carefully to the director, legs weak and almost stumbling.

Before the director could say anything, he teared up and whined, "Director, everything online is fake!"

"I was framed! Someone deliberately set me up to ruin me!"

His voice was full of grievance and anger, as if he was the most innocent victim in all this.

"Framed?" The director raised his brows, voice sharp. "Then tell me, who has the power to trap you like this?"

Hospital Director Wang suddenly blurted out, "Katherine!"

His hands clenched the edges of his shirt. His voice was firm. "Director, it was Katherine from our department! She was suspended before and held a grudge against me. She's been waiting for a chance to take revenge!"

"So she made up all this fake stuff to drag me down with her!"

The director's face grew darker. He gave a cold snort. "Hospital Director Wang, I clearly said before that Katherine was to take a few days off, and you were supposed to lead the investigation."

"But what did you do? You deleted surveillance footage and conspired with another female doctor to frame Katherine instead. Impressive."

Cold sweat broke out on Hospital Director Wang's forehead. Huge drops ran down his face and soaked the back of his shirt.

His eyes widened in panic, and he cried out, "Director, you're blaming me wrongly! I'd never dare do anything illegal like that—I swear!"

The director stared at his nervous face and suddenly let out a cold laugh. That sound was like an icy blade, cutting straight into his heart.

"You wouldn't dare? I think you've got plenty of guts. All that cleverness you show every day—seems like you've only been using it for the wrong things."
