Chapter 8 - He found me

Maya POV:

My eyes popped like it was about to fall off when I heard him utter that name from his mouth hole. I chuckled lightly and shook my head vigorously and I whispered to myself. "It's not true, Maya, it's not true, it's just all in your head."

I am beginning to hear things now. I laughed softly and tapped my fingers on my face. Maybe I just heard wrong. Xavier's name and face have been popping up in my head for a while now so it is understandable.

The drug should do its truck right about now, I guess.

I raised a finger sharply and said in a quiet tone, stammering at every single word. "What did you say again, Aiden? I…. I… I didn't seem to get you that first time."

Before he replied, I quickly poured myself a glass of water to help my brain function well because the situation of Xavier clouding my thoughts was no longer funny.

"I said you'll meet my Elder brother, Xavier." He repeated and the water in my mouth spilled all over the place.

I was in total shock!

I wasn't wrong when I heard that he called his brother's name, Xavier!

I began to stammer in fear like I was starting to become so delusional. "Your….Your….your brother's name is Xavier?"

Aiden nodded his head and Kylan just stared at his phone. "Oh, in fact, Brother Xavier is here already." He announced and I stuttered.

"What's wrong with you, Maya?" Aiden asked almost as if he was angry with the way I was acting.

Just then, a familiar figure walked into the kitchen and I lost my breath like I had just seen an actual ghost.

The voice of my worst nightmare sounded across the kitchen joyfully. "Hey, little brother."

I stopped moving and acted like I was a statue. It was Xavier Thompson!

My whole body, soul, and mind fell into a state of darkness and void. This can only be happening! I must be in a silly little nightmare.

I had a grip on myself, trying not to fall off the stool. I wiped my eyes a thousand times just to be sure that I wasn't hallucinating the image of my ex-boyfriend being in my husband's house.

Aiden moved towards Xavier and I was about to scream but I ended up covering my mouth tightly.

Aiden screamed with joy in his voice. "Hey, big bro, I have missed you so much!"

He hugged Xavier and they embraced each other like they'd known themselves like forever. What the actual hell was going on? I cried my mind out.

Xavier held Aiden and Kylan all lovingly and they called him big brother!

My hand began to shake like a leaf in a cold winter. My face fell pale like life had been withdrawn from my body as I stared at the men who were supposed to protect me from the actual devil I was trying to run away from.

Xavier is Aiden's brother and I am married to Xavier's brother!

My brain began to cloud with multiple scenarios. Hell, I wanted to pick my heels and run for my life. Was this a plan between Xavier and Aiden? I thought. Did Xavier send Aiden to get me and pin me down?

Oh my God! Was Aiden and Kylan a part of the bad guys? Oh, Jesus!

I don't understand, why would Aiden save me from those kidnappers if he was a part of them? Was it supposed to make me lose my guard?

Just then, Kylan asked him a question that stunned me. "How's California and business in the jewelry store?"

California? Jewelry store? What was Kylan saying? Xavier has been in Florida for five whole years and there is no damn Jewelry store!

Then it dawned on me and I gasped. Damn, they didn't know their so-called brother was a freaking terrorist and he has been in Florida for five years. He had lied to them claiming that he stayed in California and owned a store when I was living with him back there in that shithole.

My mind was in a total malfunction and I couldn't help myself anymore with what I should think. If Xavier is Aiden's brother, that only means one thing.

My life is done for real.

As I was lost in thought, their faces fell on mine and my heart began to pound. "Xavier, this is the big surprise I was so wanting to show you all along, Meet my beautiful wife Maya Moore Jabari," Aiden announced.

Xavier's eyes glinted with joy and he wore a mischievous smirk on his face just exactly like that of the devil himself. He walked two steps closer to me and shone his perfectly white sparkling teeth.

Xavier said in a happy yet sarcastic tone. "I heard little brother has gotten himself a wife but I didn't think the rumors were true. The rumors didn't even say how beautiful she looked and that's a shame."

Xavier chuckled dryly and he continued with a shallow voice."Hello, Maya. I am Xavier Thompson."

Immediately after he ended, I felt dizzy, I fell to the floor and passed out completely. The last thing I saw was Xavier smiling, and Kylan and Aiden running towards me. I whispered. "He's the one."

Waking up in a strange room, I turned my head sideways to see if anyone was in the room. This particular room seemed smaller than the one I was in earlier this morning. I opened the curtain and I realized it was almost evening.

I expected to be in chains, tied to the bed or something but surprisingly I wasn't. Instead, I found myself on a drip. Which made me wonder why Xavier wanted to keep me alive or was it just a dream and hallucination?

I must have passed out or something. I muttered. "Uhm I need to stop seeing Xavier's face."

It probably might have been a dream. I chuckled at the thought of Xavier being in Aiden's house.

I scoffed loudly. "That can't be possible. Xavier is a bad guy, an actual criminal and Aiden's a good guy running for the governorship election.

Their parts can't even cross and even if it did, that means Aiden finally caught him and put him in jail himself. My mind playing with me and peering at the two brothers is so pathetic to think about.

Gosh, my head is a mess!

I sat up slowly on the bed and placed my hand on my face. I said to myself multiple times. "Maya he can't be here, He can't be here!"

Suddenly, the door creaked, and I immediately looked up to see the same horror face I had just made myself believe wasn't real. My throat hung up and I couldn't even swallow my saliva as I stared at him.

It wasn't a dream nor was it a hallucination. Xavier was here and standing right in front of me. My teeth shivered and goosebumps filled my entire body.

My eyes began to stream with a flood of water as he came closer to me. He still had an irritable smirk on his face and he said with a hoarse voice. "Finally, you're awake. Hi, baby, I have missed you"

I shifted back on the bed and I was close to the edge. I inhaled deeply and held on to the drip stand and said in a whisper. "Stay away from me, Xavier."

"Shuuuuu." He said, placing a finger in between his lips. "Silent, Maya." He added.

He paused for a while and had a satanic giggle. "You know, I have been searching for you for months and now you have come to me all by yourself. If you ask me, I would say straight into the lion's den."

I closed my hot eyes tightly hoping he would vanish away but it didn't happen. He continued with his eyebrows creased. You got married to my brother, how did that happen, Maya?"

I didn't say a word to him, so he began pacing the room with his hands folded behind his back. "Oh, you didn't know he was my brother, I see that now." He continued.

"When I saw you on the news, I was so happy. You opened my eyes to a much better plan and I have you to thank for it. You made everything so much easier for me and I'm going to use you to finish up what you started." He glared at me.

Xavier further blurted out. "I mean, my brother married you to secure his position in the governorship election. He didn't tell me but I know it is a fake contract marriage because you're in the picture. My ex-girlfriend, no I mean my girlfriend is now my little brother's wife, how cliche is that?" he mocked.

I spat and replied harshly. "I am not your girlfriend anymore, not after you cheated on me with some rich idiot."

Bam!

He slapped me across the face and I groaned. "You and I never broke up, Maya, and as long as I know, you will always be my girlfriend." He continued.

" You see, Aiden has always been the privileged one, and let me see, I'm a less privileged child, and let me let you in on a little secret. I've despised it. Well, he doesn't know that yet and for the longest time of our lives, he has always been highly favored over me. I want to use you to my advantage, Maya." He added.

My lips broke and on its side, I could taste the little blood stain. I grew wild and angry, so I knelt on the bed, staring daggers at Xavier while I threatened him with a very sore and bitter tone. "I am going to tell Aiden everything, I am going to tell him the truth of who the hell you are! I'll tell everyone."

Xavier laughed out loud and climbed onto the bed. He grabbed my neck while I struggled tirelessly to get away from his grip on me. Gasping for air, I said. "Get your hands off me, Xavier!"

Xavier gritted his teeth and tightened his grip. "Aiden will never believe you because unlike you, he loves me and he has always looked up to me as his big brother. You would not be stupid enough to play that card with me, Maya." He threatened.

"No one will believe you, Bitch!" He said and threw me off the bed.

As I was freed from his grip, I coughed continuously and held my throat gently. I looked at him slowly in anger. "You won't get away with this, Xavier."

"Oh I already have and you are going to be my eyes and ears." He chuckled dryly. "Why take out one vice president when you can be a part of politics and take down each one of them one by one? That's the bigger fish right there and you my sweet little Maya have made a way for that to be a success."

I shook my head bitterly and a tear fell from my eyes. "I am going to make you pay, Xavier. I promise you won't get away with this."

Just then, the door of the room burst wide open and Kylan walked in and he asked sharply. "Won't get away with what?"
