Chapter 1 - 0 Trust

How did I become what I am today?Didn't I once want to be a hero…?The kind who slays villains and earns the trust of the people?Yeah. That was the plan. But fate had other ideas.

Now I kill heroes. Not for justice. But to be hated. To be feared.

To make sure no one ever trusts me again.

—punch x1—"Khhr..."—punch x2—"Hrrngh..."

A muscular young man with broad shoulders and golden hair pulled his fist back, ready to deliver one final, brutal blow.

—punch x3—-splat.

The crowd in the corner of my high school cheered for the "hero" as he gave me yet another "lesson."It was normal in this world. The strong decided what was right. They decided who deserved to be protected—and who deserved to be hunted.

While bullying existed everywhere, here… heroes encouraged it.They targeted those with low—or worse, zero—trust points.

Heroes today?They're businessmen.They're actors.They play roles.They don't save people.

My blood splattered across my face, the floor, and the nearby wall. The "Beauty Trio" took photos while everyone else laughed like it was just another show.

'I won't forget their faces' I thought as my vision blurred.

"Alright, that's enough, Mardon," one of his friends finally said."I don't wanna lose my lunch money just 'cause you're having fun with Kaiser again."

Mardon backed off, and the crowd slowly disappeared.

5 P.M. – Antstreet

The blood on my face had dried. But the tears... they were fresh.Every step hurt like hell.

'And all because of the stupid zero on my wrist...'

Then I heard a screech tires burning.A sleek, black BMW rolled up beside me.

The windows slowly slid down. And that's when I saw him.

'Yellow Charge…?'No way… that's really him…

He was one of the "Youngstars."The kind of prodigy born once every 50 years.

With a trust score of 2000, he had the power of 200 average men.And with it, came the belief of 2000 people… their faith became his strength.

"Hey, ladies~" Yellow Charge said in a flirty tone.

-skrrr"OMG! Is that Yellow Charge?! Can we take a pic with you?" the trio of girls squealed.

"But of course! You know what? Hop in. I'll treat you to dinner."

"Chargy, you're the best!" the youngest girl giggled.

They jumped in, and just like that, they were gone.

Alone on the sidewalk, I blinked.

'Would he have taken a picture with me… too?'

I kept walking home.

When I opened the door to my tiny apartment, I was greeted by the lovely stench of unwashed dishes.

it was so... lonely.

thats because my mother ended her life when I was five.My father? Gone. Disappeared without a trace.

This place was messy… because I made it that way.

No one believed in me.No one trusted me.No one loved me.

And that explained the white glowing zero on my wrist.

In this world, your trust points defined your worth.Me? I was worthless.

NoI was worse.I was pathetic.

I grabbed the first aid kit from the top shelf and wrapped bandages around my head three times to hide the damage.I wandered the apartment like a zombie, remote in hand, and turned on the TV.

Didn't take long before I passed out.

6 A.M. – Kaiser's Apartment

I opened my eyes. Not from the sunlight. Not from the alarm.

But from the sight of three pale, dead bodies in my room.

"...Fuck."

"Did some necro bastard hack my TV again?" I muttered to myself

No one was there to hear it.

"Ladies and gentlemen, at 10 P.M. last night, three bodies were discovered floating in the river. If you have any infor—"

I muted the screen, shocked.

'Wait… those faces... I know them...'

I whispered to no one.
