Chapter 20 - When Enemies Stand Together

Demon Slayer HQ – Hours Later

The sun was high, yet the skies grew dimmer by the minute.

Black clouds rolled in unnaturally fast.

Crows didn't fly.

Even insects were gone.

The Demon Slayer Corps was a war camp now.

Hashiras trained with urgency.Slayers sharpened swords, reinforced walls, carried civilians to bunkers. And for the first time… demons walked among them without a blade to their necks.

Muzan, arms crossed, leaned against a tree. He still wore a nobleman's suit, now torn. His pride shredded even more.Akaza sat on a rooftop like a hawk.Doma whistled annoyingly until Sanemi threatened to throw him off the roof.Kokushibo stood still, unmoving, unnervingly silent.

The tension could crack steel.

Giyu walked by, eyeing the demons. "This is insane."

Gyomei nodded solemnly. "But so is what's coming."

Then came the horn.

A low, unholy sound that made the trees tremble and the very ground throb like a heartbeat.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM.

A single crow fell dead from the sky. Burnt.

Tanjiro ran to the courtyard, sword in hand. "They're here…"

The Slayer stood atop the HQ wall, watching.

His green armor almost looked black under the tainted sky.His red chest symbol glowed again—this time brighter.

From the valley below…The first wave of Hell's army approached.

And at its center, riding a throne of bones carried by abominations—A Hell Priest.

Clad in rusted crimson robes, adorned in runes and stitched flesh, his head like a crowned skull with flame leaking from its eye sockets. He raised a crooked staff and pointed toward the HQ.

"Burn it down. Spill their faith. Drown this land in torment."

The demons behind him howled—pure hellspawn. No trace of humanity. No fear of sunlight. No soul to speak of.

The corps shook.

Even the Upper Moons recoiled.

"What… are those?" Doma whispered, stunned.

"That's not… a demon…" Akaza muttered.

"No." The Slayer finally spoke from the wall."They're demons of Hell."

Kagaya, now in the tower above, turned to the gathered warriors. Hashiras, slayers, even Muzan and his generals.

"This is our reality now. Fight with those you hate—or die alone."

"We may fall… but we will fall fighting."

Sanemi cracked his knuckles. "Fine. But if Doma breathes near me again, I'll kill him before they do."

Doma giggled. "Oh darling, we'll die together anyway!"

Muzan turned to the Slayer. "You've fought them before. How do we win?"

The Slayer's voice was low, grating.

"You don't."

"I do."

He slammed his helmet on.Picked up his shotgun. And leapt from the wall, landing like thunder between the first wave and the HQ.

The Hell Priest paused, narrowing his burning eyes. "...No."

The Slayer looked up at him.

"Remember me now?"

The priest froze. And behind him… hell trembled.

"Him…" the priest whispered. "He's here...!"

Suddenly, a memory from another world—another realm—rushed through the priest's mind.

A broken throne.

A torn heart.

The Doom Slayer… is on Earth.

"R-RETREAT! BACK! BACK TO THE GATE!"

But it was too late.

The Slayer had already charged.
