Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Building a Proper Hut

Jaxon woke early. The sun had not fully risen yet. The sky was light but still soft. He felt a little stiff from the work the day before. His small hut was not strong. It would not keep him safe if it rained or if wild animals came.

He sat near the fire. The system spoke to him in his mind.

New Quest: Make a proper hut

Reward: 20 coins

Jaxon stood up. He nodded to himself. This was a good task.

He took his axe. The small tool was sharp. He had made it himself. It worked well.

He walked into the forest. The trees were tall and thick. The leaves were bright green. The air was fresh.

He looked for wood. He needed strong wood. Wood that could hold a wall. He searched for fallen branches. He did not want to cut a living tree.

He found one. The branch was thick and rough. He lifted his axe and hit it. The wood cracked. He cut the branch into smaller pieces.

The sound of the axe was loud in the quiet forest.

His arms began to ache but he kept working. He cut more wood. He picked up the pieces and carried them back to camp.

Next, he needed vines. He pulled long vines from the trees. They were strong and bendable. He twisted them into ropes.

The sun was higher now. The air was warm.

At camp, Lina was awake. She sat outside her hut. She smiled when she saw him.

"You work hard," she said.

Jaxon nodded but did not say much.

He laid the wood in piles. Then he cleared the ground. He pulled stones and sticks. He made a flat place.

He started the foundation. He placed thick wood on the ground. He made a square. He tied the corners with vines.

Lina came close. "Can I help?" she asked.

Jaxon stopped. Then he nodded.

She smiled and gave him vines. She watched how he tied the knots. She copied him.

Together, they lifted bigger beams. They put them up for walls.

Jaxon measured the wood with his hands. When a piece was too long, he cut it with his axe.

The hut started to take shape. The walls grew.

After some time, they took a break. They ate fruit.

Lina looked around. "This hut will keep us safe."

Jaxon only nodded.

They went back to work. Jaxon made a small frame for the door. He tied the wood tightly.

He was careful. The hut had to be strong.

After hours, the hut was ready. It was bigger than before. It looked solid. The roof was thick.

Jaxon stepped back. He felt a small pride. It was not perfect, but it was good.

He checked the system.

Quest Complete: Make a proper hut

Reward: 20 coins

His total coins were 33 now.

Lina smiled and sat near the new hut. "You did good."

Jaxon nodded.

They sat by the fire. They were tired but happy.

The new hut was safe.

The wind blew soft. The sun set red.

Jaxon looked at Lina. She smiled. Her eyes were bright.

For a moment, he felt calm. He thought maybe he could live here. Not just survive, but live.

He wanted to protect her.

The night came. The island was quiet.

Lina smiled as she watched Jaxon tie the last vine around the hut. He moved slowly but carefully. His face was calm and serious. She liked that.

Why is he so quiet all the time? she thought. It's like he has a secret.

She walked closer and teased, "Hey, you missed a spot."

Jaxon looked up but did not say anything. He glanced at the corner and tightened the vine again.

Lina laughed softly. "You don't have to be so serious all the time, you know."

He just nodded, still focused.

He's like a big, quiet tree, she thought. Strong and steady, but quiet. It makes me feel safe.

She sat down nearby and watched him work. The way he moved, the small frown when he thought hard.

I wonder what he's thinking, she mused. Does he miss his old life? Does he ever smile when no one is watching?

Lina reached out and gently touched his arm.

Jaxon blinked and looked at her. For a moment, something passed in his eyes.

"Stop teasing me," he said quietly.

She smiled wider. "I'm not teasing. I'm just… curious."

Jaxon looked away. "I'm not good at talking."

"That's okay. You don't have to talk much with me," she said softly.

She leaned her head on his shoulder.

Jaxon stayed still but did not move away.

Lina's heart beat a little faster.

Maybe this island isn't so bad, she thought. As long as he is here.

In Jaxon's Hut:

Jaxon sat inside the new hut. The walls were strong now. The quiet made him focus.

He opened the system shop in his mind.

He had 33 coins.

He looked at the items. There were tools, seeds, and materials.

Jaxon thought about what he needed most.

First, he picked a better axe. It looked sharp and strong.

He bought it. The axe appeared in his hand. It felt heavy but good.

Next, he looked at seeds. Growing food would help.

He bought fruit seeds and vegetable seeds.

The seeds came in a small bag. He put it carefully in his pack.

Then, he saw a fishing rod. Fishing would help get food.

He bought the fishing rod. It appeared in his hand. It felt light and strong.

Jaxon closed the shop.

Just then, Lina came inside.

She looked curious. "What's that?"

Jaxon held up the new axe and fishing rod.

"Tools," he said quietly.

Lina smiled. "Nice. You made good choices."

Jaxon said nothing more.

He did not want to explain the system. Lina didn't know about it.

He looked outside the hut.

The island was still strange, but with these tools, maybe life here would get easier.
