Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Remember who you are.

While saying this, Fang Xiufang glanced at Hua Lianxi's flat stomach and plopped down. "If you don't drink these tonics, will you be able to do it? Grandma doesn't care anymore, I must hold my great-grandson at next year's birthday banquet!"

Before even drinking it, the strong smell of Chinese medicine rushed straight into Kong Chengyi's nostrils. Wrinkling his nose, he had no choice but to push away the medicine in front of him. Stomach acid churned, as if what he drank last week was still roiling in his stomach.

"Grandma, don't doubt your grandson's abilities. We'll go upstairs and work on it right now!" Quickly pulling Hua Lianxi up, Kong Chengyi wanted to avoid Fang Xiufang's next move.

"Ouch, ouch, dizzy, dizzy, Aunt Yang, Aunt Yang, my high blood pressure is acting up..." Squinting, Fang Xiufang pressed her hand to her head while waving the other in the air. Grabbing Aunt Yang's hand, she cried out慌忙, "Quick, take me to the hospital, I need to go to the hospital!"

Stopping in his tracks, Kong Chengyi turned to look at the wailing old trickster. He sighed helplessly, then strode forward. "Okay, okay, I'll drink it! I'll drink it and you'll stop being dizzy right away, no need to go to the hospital in the middle of the night!"

The cold-faced CEO of Chengzai Group was famous for his filial piety, but no one expected him to be completely helpless against the old madam, even forcing himself to do things he didn't want to rather than upset her even a little bit.

A "pfft" sound escaped, and Hua Lianxi finally couldn't help but laugh.

In the two months she had lived in the mansion, she had a pretty good idea of Fang Xiufang's crazy obsession with having a great-grandson, and she had already witnessed her frantic efforts to "nourish" them. Every time she saw Kong Chengyi completely helpless, she couldn't help but find it amusing.

Giving her a cold glare, Kong Chengyi held his breath and gulped down the bowl of black liquid. He turned and went upstairs again without a word, not forgetting to pull her along with him.

Hearing their footsteps going upstairs, Fang Xiufang opened her eyes, looked at the empty bowl, and gave Aunt Yang a thumbs-up with a smile. "Get me an ice cream, let me calm my nerves!"

Casually throwing his jacket on the bed, Kong Chengyi stared at Hua Lianxi with a dark expression, saying nothing. For a moment, it seemed even the air had frozen.

Closing the door, Hua Lianxi leaned against the door panel, meeting his gloomy gaze without any fear.

"Hua Lianxi, remember who you are!"

Stretching her cheeks, which were stiff from smiling politely all evening, Hua Lianxi said softly, "I've never forgotten."

Staring at her delicate face for a few seconds, Kong Chengyi walked over to the liquor cabinet, took out a bottle, poured himself a glass, and drank it down in one go. Frowning slightly, the strong taste of medicine in his mouth dissipated a lot. He grabbed his cigarettes and lighter with one hand and the bottle of alcohol with the other, then headed to the balcony.

Looking at his back, Hua Lianxi took off the small diamond earrings from her earlobes while looking around the large, unfamiliar yet familiar room. It reflected the coolness and simplicity of its owner, with a simple black and white color scheme that offered no hint of cheerfulness. She pursed her lips and went straight to the walk-in closet.

Finding her pajamas and robe, Hua Lianxi walked towards the bathroom, glancing at the balcony. She saw Kong Chengyi looking up at the quiet night sky, alternating between cigarettes and gulps of wine.

The night sky was pitch black, with only a few scattered stars stretching endlessly. The sparse starlight dotted the darkness, shining yet insignificant.

Kong Chengyi's eyes were fixed on this familiar darkness, a cigarette smoldering between his fingers. He felt unusually agitated. Looking down at the few cigarette butts at his feet, he suddenly took another deep drag, letting the strong nicotine fill his mouth before slowly exhaling. Before the nicotine completely faded, he picked up the bottle and took another large gulp, letting the burning liquid pass through his mouth and burn in his stomach.
