Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: My Hometown, Mingdu

At this moment, Jing Hongchen was already contacting the intelligence network the Sun Moon Empire had within the Star Luo Empire, to confirm whether someone named "Huo Yuhao" had ever existed in the White Tiger Duke's household, and to verify his identity.

Meanwhile, Huo Yuhao was temporarily placed in another military camp to rest and recover. At first, soldiers were assigned to keep watch, but as time went on, they gradually lost interest in monitoring this seemingly weak kid—though they remained curious about who he was to warrant such personal attention from Jing Hongchen.

And so, between fantasizing about his future life in the Sun Moon Empire and training his spiritual power and soul power under the guidance of the Skydream Iceworm, Huo Yuhao spent three days in the camp.

Three nights later.

While cultivating in meditation, Huo Yuhao suddenly heard urgent footsteps outside the tent. He opened his eyes to see Jing Hongchen entering with a look of joy written all over his face.

"Hall Master Hongchen, how did the investigation into my background go?"

Huo Yuhao asked, knowingly playing dumb.

Jing Hongchen quickly straightened his face, restraining his smug expression. He coughed once and returned to a composed state.

"Hmm. Cough. Your identity checks out. Let's go. Come with me to the capital of the Sun Moon Empire—Mingdu. Someone important wants to see you."

Huo Yuhao nodded, a relieved smile spreading across his face.

Finally, he could set foot in the hometown he had never seen.

This was the happiest moment for Huo Yuhao since his transmigration—second only to gaining his golden finger.

"A low-grade flying soul tool... with my help, even a Level Ten soul master like you can use it. Come, we'll fly to Mingdu together."

Surprised at how swiftly Jing Hongchen was moving to take him to Mingdu, Huo Yuhao didn't hesitate. With Jing Hongchen's assistance, he quickly strapped on the flying soul tool.

Thus, with the wings of the soul tool spread, one large figure and one small took off from the Third Regiment's encampment, soaring toward Mingdu.

Five hours later.

Due to his weak soul power, even with assistance from a titled Douluo like Jing Hongchen, Huo Yuhao could not maintain long periods of flight using the tool. They had to stop frequently so he could restore his power using a milk bottle soul tool.

But to Jing Hongchen's surprise, Huo Yuhao's flight duration steadily increased. His maneuvering also became more precise and controlled.

These two improvements—one reflecting cultivation talent in soul power, the other revealing above-average spiritual strength—were both clear signs that Huo Yuhao possessed strong aptitude not only as a soul master but also as a soul engineer.

"This kid has such talent, and yet the Star Luo people didn't see his worth. Hah, good thing I found him."

"If he develops and reveals his identity to the Star Luo Empire once war breaks out... heh."

"I must make sure his true identity is kept secret. It can't be exposed just yet."

Jing Hongchen mused gleefully. Although Huo Yuhao hadn't officially passed the Royal Soul Engineer Academy's entrance exam, in his heart, Jing had already accepted him as a student.

As they flew, Jing Hongchen turned his head.

"Little Huo, do you have the confidence to pass the entrance exam of our empire's highest institution? The test won't be easy."

Huo Yuhao smiled knowingly.

"Hall Master Hongchen, let me show you something."

He didn't respond directly to the question.

Jing Hongchen looked puzzled. Just as he was about to ask what Huo Yuhao meant, he was caught off guard by what he saw:

In the dark of night, where even his own vision could barely pick up anything, his mind was suddenly filled with a shared sensory image—a scan-like feed of their surroundings, as if everything had been mapped and transmitted straight into his brain.

"This... this is..."

Jing Hongchen stopped flying, murmuring in disbelief.

Huo Yuhao hovered as well.

"This is my first soul skill—Spiritual Detection and Sharing. What do you think, Hall Master?"

Over the past few days, Huo Yuhao had used his free time in the camp to diligently practice the two divine skills granted by the Skydream Iceworm's million-year soul ring: Spiritual Detection and Spiritual Sharing.

There was no need for Huo Yuhao to explain further. Just hearing the name of the skill, Jing Hongchen already understood.

To scan and analyze information the eye can't see, then share it directly into the minds of allies—this was...

"This is a god-tier skill for a soul engineer, especially for an entire squad of soul engineers."

Jing Hongchen praised with sincere awe. This boy was truly no ordinary person.

At this point, Jing Hongchen felt like he had struck gold.

If it weren't for the confirmation that Huo Yuhao really was the White Tiger Duke's illegitimate son, he might've suspected the Star Luo Empire had sent over a top-tier genius soul engineer spy to steal their technology.

But would they be so dumb? Sending the Duke's son, a boy with this level of talent, to act as a spy?

Huo Yuhao closed the skill. As Jing Hongchen restarted his soul tool and resumed flying, his voice rang out ahead.

"Yuhao, from now on, you're one of us. If you run into any trouble, just come find me—the dean. I've decided to let someone with your talent bypass the exam and enroll in the Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineer Academy as a special admission student. What do you say?"

Joy flickered in Huo Yuhao's heart. His decision to reveal his ability had paid off.

"Thank you, Dean, for your support."

After a while, the distant horizon revealed a glowing, resplendent city, illuminated even in the early hours of the morning. It had the vibrant nighttime allure of Earth's great metropolises.

This was Mingdu—the undisputed most advanced and developed city on the Douluo Continent.

Its dazzling lights reflected in Huo Yuhao's eyes. He was momentarily mesmerized.

"So familiar... so beautiful... my people, my home."

Hearing Huo Yuhao's words, Jing Hongchen burst into hearty laughter.

"What do you think? Never seen anything like it, have you? This is the Mingdu every Sun Moon citizen is proud of. You Star Luo folk probably can't even dream of something like this."

Huo Yuhao immediately felt indignant. Who was he calling Star Luo folk?

"Hall Master Hongchen, now that's just wrong. Who says I'm with them? I've long been a Sun Moon citizen! Seeing this Mingdu, which leaves Star Luo City ten streets behind, I truly hope to become a real Sun Moon native!"

Huo Yuhao spoke casually, not caring at all. As a transmigrator, he held no misplaced loyalty or nationalist sentiment.

His original home had vanished with his mother's death. What right did the Star Luo Empire have to label him a traitor?

"Hahaha! Well said! What a line—'Who says I'm with them?' From now on, I, Jing Hongchen, officially recognize your Sun Moon identity. Your citizenship papers—I'll have them processed first thing tomorrow!"

Jing Hongchen beamed from ear to ear, and Huo Yuhao smiled too. The air was filled with cheerful energy.
