A few days passed by. In this time, Rhys discovered a lot of things about this world. First, the world he is living in is some parallel world just like Earth, but to his surprise, magic does exist in this world. But only 1% of the world population had mana and could use magic.
The Western continent was the land of five powers - the Republic of Arcadia covering the whole east of the continent, the kingdom of Labria in the southeast, the kingdom of Valor in the south, the kingdom of Zenon in the central plains, and the most powerful of all - the empire of Celestria covering almost half of the land starting from the west.
Currently, Rhys was residing in the eastern remote area of the Celestria empire, and earlier, where he originally used to reside, was an old town near the border, which shared borders between the empire and the Zenon kingdom, which had been attacked by an unknown group. The year was 1802, and the progress of technology was the same as on Earth; the only difference was the presence of magic.
In the empire, only the high nobility and the royalty were the holders of mana and could use magic. Commoners didn't even have access to the knowledge about mana. Rhys was an exception, and how he would use this power was now totally up to him. It could become a trump card for him if used correctly. But he didn't have any knowledge about it, so he had to figure it out later on.
Things were progressing smoothly, that's what Rhys thought, but his life wasn't going to sail that easily.
One morning, as he collected his breakfast and was heading to his table, suddenly a bunch of kids surrounded him.
"Oye, kiddo, what's the hurry to have breakfast? Let's have a chat first," a black-haired kid around the age of 12 said.
Rhys just quietly followed them to the backyard of the orphanage without saying anything.
"The breakfast looks good, doesn't it? Though it's a shame that we can't ask for a second time," the kid said, pointing at the bread on Rhys's plate.
"Now, how about like a good kid, you share it with your seniors." The black-haired kid just snatched the bread off the plate.
"That's my breakfast," Rhys said, staring back at the kid with anger.
Snap…
Seeing those angered eyes, the kid gave a tight slap to Rhys, and it was so strong that the sound echoed in Rhys's mind for a few seconds.
"Who said you can talk back?" the kid said.
"Ha…ha…ha, that was so good max. The kid's going to remember it forever. That's a good lesson for him." Another kid accompanying him said.
Although the slap was kind of painful and sharp, Rhys's gaze didn't change; he was still looking at Max with anger.
"What a weirdo," Max commented, looking at Rhys.
"Leave him be, max. He is still new over here. Once we make him understand his place over here, he's going to be fine."
"Yeah, let's go," saying so max and his group moved away.
Thu…
Rhys spitted on the ground.

.
As max finished his dinner and got changed, he headed towards his bed. As he approached his bed, he saw something on his bed.
Arghhh…..
He turned pale, and his legs got weaker, making him fall on the ground. He started breathing heavily and suddenly started vomitting on the floor.
Everyone rushed towards the direction of the scream, which was heard throughout the whole corridor. The scenario which everyone saw over there left them devastated. The night warden asked the kid to leave the room immediately.
There was a dead rabbit on Max's bed. His intestines were pulled out, and blood was all over the place, making the white bed covered in a dark red colour. Everyone was shocked, and the ones who had seen it surely won't be getting a good sleep tonight sooner or later. Suddenly, within the crowd, Eric's eye got locked on Rhys, and a cold sweat ran through his body. He saw Rhys smiling, a kind of smile that had satisfaction. A chill ran down through Eric's spine seeing that smile.
"Well, at least with this little prank, I got something useful."
Rhys looked at his system window.
