Chapter 1 - PROLOGUE

The Billionaire's Assistant

Prologue — Surrender is Never Free

---

I learned early that power is not given. It is taken.

And once you take it — once someone surrenders it to you — it is yours to twist, bend, and mold however you desire.

It's intoxicating. Addictive. Dangerous.

That's why they always come back.

Women like her.

I don't even remember her name anymore. Blonde. Elegant. Sharp-tongued in the boardroom, all polished confidence and stilettos — until the moment she stepped into my penthouse, wearing that designer dress and eyes that practically begged me to ruin her.

I remember the way her breath faltered when I pressed her against the glass window, the city sprawling below us like an endless playground. I remember how her thighs trembled when I knelt between them, tearing her silk panties away with a single, precise tug. And I remember her voice — sweet, breathless, desperate — whispering one single word over and over as I claimed every inch of her body.

"Please."

I made her beg.

I always make them beg.

Her wrists had looked delicate wrapped in my silk ties. Crimson, as always. My signature. The slow drag of leather across her bare skin, the sharp gasp when the crop kissed her inner thigh, the soft whimper when I whispered my rules into her ear —

Obey me. Please me. Give yourself to me.

And in return, I'd take everything.

But it was never enough.

No matter how many women I bound to my bed, no matter how many bodies surrendered under my command — the hunger inside me remained sharp, hollow, unfulfilled.

Because control was never just about sex.

It was about drowning out the chaos.

About silencing the demons clawing at the edges of my mind.

I told myself it was enough. That I didn't need more. That nothing could ever touch me.

Then she walked into my office.

Ellie Hart.

Too smart. Too stubborn. Too beautiful for her own good.

And utterly unaware of how deep into my world she was about to fall.

I should have sent her away.

I didn't.

Because even before I touched her — before I tasted her submission — I knew:

Ellie wouldn't just surrender her body.

If I wasn't careful, she'd take something from me too.

Some games aren't meant to be played.

Some desires don't stay in the dark.

And some assistants aren't meant to be kept at arm's length…
