Or maybe she didn't.
He was this close to getting the dagger into her already bruised stomach and for the first time Sara felt fear and she almost burst into tears. 'What is this weird feeling of having emotions and stupid conscience?' Sara knew something was wrong with her, but she just hadn't figured out what was really the problem.
She found herself closing her eyes when the man reached to stab her with the dagger in his hand, which was definitely unlike her. No one could understand how frustrated she was at herself for being so weak physically and emotionally. How foolish could she be?
"Urgh!' She heard from the man in front of her who was about to kill her with the dagger he had. That, however, wasn't the only sound she heard. She heard the sound of something dashing through the air and that something must have been the reason the man reacted in such a way. He was in pain, and she knew that through his voice and words.
Therefore, she opened her eyes slowly to him holding his hand where an arrow pierced. A smile curled up on her lips. She was satisfied but wished she was the one who did something to him.
"Save her, she's the future queen!" this was what she heard for her to look around. 'Save her?'
'Who are they saving and who were the ones saving?' She was confused because she saw nobody, so where on earth did that voice come from?
She returned her gaze to the man who was supposed to end her life and saw that he was being surrounded by three men who also dressed outdated. 'For God's sake, where on earth am I? What is going on?' she stood lost in confusion.
As she was looking around to understand what was going on, she felt dizzy, which rose from her stomach. It was so intense that she took a step back. This happened to be a sign that she was about to lose consciousness.
Her eyelids went weak, and her head felt too heavy to stand on her neck, hence she leaned backward and fell.
But he broke her fall. She landed in his arms and went blank. Turns out she wasn't aware that she was still bleeding from her stomach.
Everything went dark again for hours. It was dark for a long time.
...
"I am supposed to be your mate, not some low life omega," a pretty lady with long brown straight hair was seen in a room with the just enthroned Lycan king. Although the Lycan king hadn't announced who his true mate was to his family and the whole kingdom.
Everyone expected that he would have found his luna through the grand gathering for his coronation two nights ago. Some were even gossiping that Liliana, the woman who had just said those words to the Lycan king, Nathan, was his true mate but through the conversation both of them were having now, it appeared that she wasn't his true mate.
The one listening didn't mean to eavesdrop but she was hurt because she was the Lycan king's true mate and the night of his coronation must have given her the wrong impression that he'd want an omega.
Now that she was at the doorstep to his room because she was longing for him, she unfortunately saw him with the one everyone would want for him.
It wouldn't make sense if a Lycan as powerful as that mated with a lower rank like Sofia. When she thought about this, she decided to do what she thought was right.
She knew that she would lose her life if she made such a move, but she didn't care at that moment. Perhaps it was because of the pain she felt in her heart to see her mate with a woman prettier and more powerful than her. She should have known from the beginning that she could never be with the man she fell in love with two nights ago as they were on different levels.
The whole kingdom wouldn't even accept her, and she might eventually have a cheating mate. After imagining the pain and hurt she would face if she accepted to be with the Lycan king, she concluded on what to do and that decision was the reason her master killed her.
The deal between her master and her was to accept her mate, the Lycan king because that was the easiest way for their group to destroy the whole royal family of the Lycan kingdom as the family were the reason they all suffered. Their master was Diego Grey, a disowned family member of the royal Lycan family.
For years after gathering wolves who had suffered greatly because of the royal family whether powerful or not, he finally devised a great plan to get back at the royal family and the beginning of the plan was to get Sofia into the royal family, but she failed him because she was weak.
He had been planning to eliminate her for she had been causing the group great losses because of her weakness, and he finally found a reason to remove her.
However, the plan he had upon finding out that Sofia was the Lycan king's mate was sure to be successful. It was a great disappointment to him when Sofia came to tell him that the Lycan king rejected her, which was a lie. She was the one who rejected him because she couldn't hurt him or bear the pain of seeing him with other she-wolves that weren't as weak as her.
This was what led her to her death.
Everything became clear to Sara after falling asleep for two days. As an omega, she healed like humans, so it took her two days to recover.
When she opened her eyes, she found herself in a bed. She looked around for a while, trying to register the things around her. She was alone in that dark room. Subconsciously, she stood up and lit a match to light a candle.
She knew that there was no electricity in the building she was at the moment. Every memory in her head felt like they belonged to her. Sara touched her stomach and bent to see what was going on with it. She saw that it was stitched already. The pain still lingered but wasn't as sharp as it was before.
She sat back in bed and ran her fingers through her hair. She lifted one of her legs to place her foot on the bed because she felt more comfortable to sit in that position.
"For fuck's sake, what's going on? Why is my memory twisted, where am I?'
"Hey," she said.
"Ahh," she said again, now touching her neck.
"What the hell! Why do I sound so different? I sound like a Girly girl, gross!" she grimaced. "This isn't my voice," she heard herself again and could punch herself because she hated how weak she sounded.
Wait, she had a tattoo on her thigh. Something in her urged her to check if the tattoo was still on her skin.
She surprisingly wasn't shocked when she saw no tattoo on her thigh.
'Is there a mirror in here?' she wondered, looking around the room. She had anger issues and wasn't patient so when she found it difficult to find a mirror, she walked out of the room.
Since her room was on the ground floor, she decided to make use of the window.
She grabbed the plate holding the candle and went outside. It was awfully quiet, and she loved it. There were large lanterns on the walls outside so seeing in the dark wasn't troubling like it was in the room.
She had never been this patient for as long as she could remember but she needed to confirm something that was bothering her.
What was with the unrelated memories, the voice, the clear skin, the weird feeling of conscience and pain, and the environment? She had so many questions and when she looked at the window...her jaw dropped.
This could be the answer to her questions. 'This isn't me,' she said and touched her face. There was a scar under her jaw but wasn't found in this new face and, she didn't have siren green eyes, she also didn't have red hair. "This isn't my body!" she gasped.
'Could this be the body of the dumb girl who couldn't avenge the death of her whole family?' and a smile curled on the side of her lips.
How intriguing. Another chance to live.
