Chapter 14 - 14.Webbed Connections

"Spider-Man," you muttered under your breath, unsure if you were more irritated or impressed.

He didn't look threatening—wearing the classic red and blue suit, webbing dangling from his wrist like he owned the city. But there was something about the cocky grin on his face that made you tense.

Daredevil, for once, wasn't the one making the introductions. "We've got a situation. Phantom's been moving around the city, using some pretty advanced tech to avoid detection. We need all hands on deck."

Spider-Man's mask turned toward you. "And I assume that means we're working together?"

"You assume right," Daredevil replied, his tone dry. "He's here to track Phantom too."

"I'm not sure whether that's good or bad for you," Spider-Man quipped. "But I'm in. I've tangled with Phantom before. A real slippery customer."

You eyed Spider-Man cautiously. Your powers were unpredictable enough as it was; working alongside someone who made puns in the middle of a mission didn't exactly scream cohesion.

"So, what's the plan?" you asked, trying to push past the weird vibe Spider-Man gave off.

Daredevil held up his hand, signaling you both to listen.

The sounds of a struggle came from an alleyway ahead—too loud, too chaotic. The unmistakable rhythm of a fight breaking out.

Without hesitation, Daredevil moved, following the noise, his senses sharpened by years of practice. You weren't far behind.

Spider-Man swung into action, his webbing trailing behind him like a dart.

You followed at a run, pushing through the alleyways, the city's sounds muffled under the adrenaline buzzing in your chest. As you neared the source of the disturbance, you felt it—the energy signature was unmistakable. Phantom was here.

Then you saw it.

Phantom stood in the middle of the alley, surrounded by a group of armed men. He wasn't running. He was toying with them.

"Did you think I'd be easy to catch?" Phantom taunted, a smile playing at the edge of his lips.

"You're not a ghost, Phantom," Daredevil said, stepping forward. "You've just been hiding behind others."

Spider-Man webbed up a thug to the wall, cracking a joke as he did so. "You know, you're really starting to make a habit of this, Phantom. Can't say I'm not impressed."

Phantom's eyes glinted in the dim light. "And you've brought friends. Good to know the local talent is in on this now."

The fight erupted in an instant.

Daredevil was all precision, moving in close and disarming Phantom's men one by one. Spider-Man was an unpredictable whirlwind of webbing and punches, disorienting the thugs with his acrobatics.

And you?

You were at the center of it all, carefully observing. You couldn't risk copying too much. But you could read their movements, predict their attacks, and use it to your advantage.

Your body danced between their strikes, countering their attacks with ease. You didn't need to mimic Daredevil's skill or Spider-Man's speed. You'd already figured them out in seconds.

The fight was quick, chaotic—but efficient. By the time Phantom tried to make his escape, you had him cornered.

"This isn't over," Phantom hissed, eyes flashing. "You can't stop what's already started."

Daredevil took a step forward, his voice low. "I've been stopping people like you my whole life. You're not as clever as you think."

Phantom chuckled darkly, backing away into the shadows. "We'll see about that."

He vanished into the night.

You took a deep breath, muscles aching from the quick, intense fight. Spider-Man landed beside you with a smile under his mask. "Not bad for a new guy."

"You've been doing this a lot longer," you replied.

Daredevil was already moving, tracking Phantom's fading energy trail. "This is only the beginning. He's more dangerous than we realized. Stick with me—next time, we find out who he's working for."

You nodded.

For once, you weren't fighting alone.

But Phantom wasn't the only ghost in the city. The shadows were closing in. And soon, you'd need more than just your powers to survive.
