Chapter 1 - Prologue: A New Life

A New Life.

Winter had arrived for the Leo Kingdom, streets—empty, as the constant rain of snow painted the roads. The coldness forced people to stay in their houses, cuddled with their families next to sources of fire for warmth.

Though on such a cold weather, not every family was enjoying the laziness that came with winter.

One family, restless—awaiting the birth of their new member.

The Leo Family—

The ruling family that rules over the Leo Kingdom, more commonly known as the Royal Family.

Today was the anticipated day of birth of the first child between the King and Queen. A birth that has been yearned by the Royal Family and it's Kingdom—The Leo Kingdom.

Today was the day the heir of the family would be born.

In a serene chamber of silver runes, glowing elixirs, and silken beds, where magic and medicine entwine for royalty's healing.

A woman—a beautiful woman with a wholesome smile, as she smiled at the infant child cuddled up on her hands.

In the serene room, it was only her and the new born dear on her hands, her eyes full of adoration for the tiny being on her arms—the newborn Prince.

The birth of the Leo Kingdom Prince had been successful. Now all that was left, was for the Queen to care for her child.

Strangely, the young prince was too quiet for a new born child. A bit of cruel should have been the case but he hasn't made a sound since. This would've worried a lot of parents, mothers mostly, luckily Queen Sandra could sense her boy's lively health.

Her finger the curves of his cheek, "I've finally met you, my beautiful Cain." She said with the sweetest of voices.

"Clack, clack, clack."

The sound of footsteps could be heard as the luxurious wooden door swang open, a beautiful woman with a slim figure entered the room.

Her lips parted, "I see, your highness is still adoring your baby. But sadly your resting time has reached."

As she said those words, she leandled towads Sandra as she took Cain off her hands and carried him over to his bed which was next Sandra's bed.

An exaggerated sad smile crept onto Sandra's face, as she pouted at Doctor Gin for taking Cain from her hands.

Ironically, it only took a few seconds before she dozed off to sleep.

A week had passed since Prince Cain's birth, and though he appeared to be a healthy young child, a lingering concern had cast a long shadow over the royal family's joy.

He never cried, never flinched, never followed movement with his eyes. Doctor Gin, after careful observation and testing, arrived at a temporary and troubling conclusion: the prince was blind.

"It's his eyes," she told Queen Sandra and King Alaric, her voice quiet yet heavy with uncertainty. "They don't respond to light, and he shows no signs of visual awareness. There's no physical damage, but… there is something strange. His eyes seem to leak… not tears, but something else. Something I can't explain."

King Alaric's expression darkened. "You're uncertain. Yet you call him blind."

Doctor Gin hesitated. "I must call it as it appears, Your Majesty. Whether this is blindness or something beyond it… I cannot say."

Cain remained silent in his cradle, his face serene, as if untouched by the conversation—or perhaps listening more deeply than anyone could guess. When the curtain was pulled back and golden sunlight filled the chamber, the child didn't even blink.

"Not even light disturbs him," Gin murmured. "It's as if… he sees nothing at all. Or everything at once."

The queen reached for her son, brushing a gentle finger across his cheek. "But he's healthy. I feel it. His heartbeat is strong. His soul… it burns with life."

"Yes," Gin admitted. "Whatever afflicts him… it is not illness. Not weakness. But the world may not be so kind in how it sees him."

And those words would prove prophetic.

In the days that followed, whispers began to spread beyond the palace walls. A blind prince? An unfit heir? A curse on the royal bloodline?

Servants avoided meeting the child's gaze. Nobles exchanged glances behind their fans and wine goblets. And though Queen Sandra held Cain in her arms with all the love in the world, even she could feel the weight of the growing doubt.

Doctor Gin continued her examinations in secret, keeping records and notes. Yet even she could not determine the nature of the "leak" in Cain's eyes—an untraceable flow of something ancient, something unnatural, that shimmered faintly when no one else was looking.

Still, Cain remained silent. Serene. Watching nothing—and perhaps, something more.

And so, the world would come to know him as the Blind Prince.

They would scoff at him. Dismiss him. Pity him.

But the truth of what lay behind those still, strange eyes… would not remain hidden forever.
