Chapter 1 - First Day At Work

It was early in the morning, the sun was yet to be seen in the sky when the alarm rang. Lola groaned; she was still enjoying her sleep and wouldn't want to get up now, but she knew that this would be her first day at work.

She stretched before getting off the bed lazily to go wake her daughter, Mira. Today will be hectic, and she knows it, as her days have not been the same since she came back to the country. Only if she could get a nanny to take Care of her daughter, then her days will be less stressful.

Enough of grumbling, she thought as she made her way to Mira's room.

"Hey, sweetie, it's morning, you have to prepare for school now," she said as she gently shook the five-year-old girl awake.

Mira got up from bed, half awake. "Good morning, Mom! " the little girl greeted, amidst yawning.

"Good morning, sweetheart, now let's get you in the bathroom and prepare you for school," Lola said, picking up the girl and walking into the bathroom.

In an hour, the two are almost ready and now have an omelet for breakfast.

"It will be your first day in your new school, make new friends, and try to have fun," Lola advises.

Mira nodded without looking up, as she continued munchies on her food.

Peep peep! A horn sound outside

"Oh! That must be the cab," Lola said. She quickly cleared the plate, helped Mira with her lunch box before walking towards the exit with her daughter.

The Gadon Steel Company

A cab pulls up in front of the company, and Lola steps out in her navy blue office gown, which matches her blue eyes and black silk hair; she looks dashing. She took a deep breath, it's her first day at work, and she hopes everything goes well, as she knows what it took her to get this job. She took another deep breath before walking in.

Her heel clicked on the marble floor as Lola made her way to the CEO's office on the top floor, where she would work as his secretary and assistant. She had decided not to use the elevator as she is still a little bit nervous; she hopes to calm her nerves before getting to the office.

Getting to the top floor, she was met by a young, handsome man, probably in his mid-twenties. He has blonde hair and brown eyes that make him look unique. He is Jimi Gadon, the cousin of the CEO, and he also works on the top floor with the CEO; he was one of the three people who interviewed her before she got the job.

"Good morning, Miss Lola," Jimi greeted her with a smile.

"Good morning, sir," she replied politely while trying as much as possible to calm her nerves.

"Assume you are more than ready to join us today, come, let me show you your office, " Jimi said, gesturing for her to follow him, and she quickly fell behind him, making sure not to walk side by side with him.

"My brother, Gad, the CEO, is not around; he is on a business trip and might take a while before he returns," Jimi engaged in a conversation as they made their way to the office.

"So in his absence, I will be putting you through on what to do," Jimi continued

"I understand, sir."

They finally got to the office, and it was big, bigger than what Lola assumed. She likes the way everything was neatly arranged, from the files on the desk to the settings of the sofa and a coffee table in the middle.

"We hope the office is to your standard?" Jimi asked, but Lola didn't catch what he said; she was busy checking out the office.

"Sir?" She asked

"I'm asking if you like the office?"

"Of course, sir, I do."

"That's good, I will leave you then to get familiar with the environment," He said and walked out while Lola continued checking out the office with a smile hanging on her face, this is more than she imagined.
