Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: The Silence Between the Storm

One month had passed since they returned from Maldives.

Lisa had been burying herself in her work at the kindergarten, keeping herself distracted with laughter and children's drawings. But her own body... wasn't cooperating.

She sat in the staffroom, holding her cup of tea with trembling hands.

Why do I feel nauseous every morning?

Why am I always tired... and dizzy?

Why... haven't I gotten my period?

She rubbed her temples. Her chest was heavy with worry.

I didn't... sleep with anyone else. Only that night... that I barely remember.

And that night... was with Alex.

Her face turned pale.

"No... no. It can't be," she whispered to herself. "No way."

Meanwhile, Mia sat in a quiet café with Eli, her fingers curled around her coffee cup.

"I want to break the engagement," Mia finally said.

Eli raised his eyes, surprise flickering across his features. "You're serious?"

Mia nodded.

"I've been thinking about it a lot," she said softly. "Even before... Maldives. But now... I can't pretend anymore. He's not mine. And honestly, maybe he never was."

Eli leaned back in his chair, the weight of his thoughts visible.

He gave a bitter chuckle. "So he really did something with Lisa?"

Mia looked at him with sad eyes. "She doesn't remember much. But she's hurting. And Alex... he's drowning in guilt, but he won't admit it."

Eli ran his hands through his hair and muttered, "That damn brother of mine. He's like a poison in a woman's heart."

Mia looked surprised at his words.

Eli sighed. "You deserve someone better than Alex. You always did."

"But... it still hurts," Mia whispered, eyes glistening.

"I know," Eli replied gently. "But sometimes walking away is the only way to save yourself."

That night, Lisa stood in front of the bathroom mirror, holding a small pregnancy test in her hand. The second line had appeared — faint, but clear.

She collapsed onto the floor, covering her mouth as the reality settled in.

I'm pregnant...

Her mind screamed.

And the father is... Alex.

Tears streamed down her cheeks.

How could she tell anyone?

Would Alex even believe her?

And most importantly... did she even want him to know?
