Chapter 17 - Katō Jun Cheats

Chapter 17: Katō Jun Cheats

Jun was happy to give Yukino his school uniform jacket so that it could be used to make a pair of pants. He wanted Yukino to learn how to climb trees more quickly.

Yukino had said her own jacket could be used, but she didn't realize how big her hips and thighs were.

It was clear that her jacket didn't have enough fabric.

She probably ate too much fish and coconut crabs recently.

"It's done."

Yukino had turned Katō Jun's uniform jacket into a pair of slightly loose but very comfortable pants that were easy to move in.

"Not bad..."

Jun looked at the girl in front of him, who was wearing clothes made from his own fabric, and felt a little strange.

Even so, Yukino was one of the prettiest girls in school, and she could make pants like those look good.

"That's really nice of you. Thank you."

Yukino felt even more awkward.

I'm wearing Katō-kun's pants... It feels so embarrassing...

Yukino had a red face and was looking down. She did not look at Jun. Her legs, covered in loose pants, rubbed together without her knowing as she tried to calm her nervous, embarrassed, and awkward feelings.

It feels like in those movies when a girl wears her boyfriend's shirt for the first time.

That thought immediately made her think of their kiss earlier, and her face turned even redder.

After the rain stopped, the weather cleared again.

With the "Skillful Hands " skill she had gained, and with Jun's help, Yukino's ability to climb trees improved quickly.

The bookworm Yukino quickly learned to climb trees. She was so strong that she could climb even the tallest coconut trees.

When everything was ready, Jun took the rough map they had made the night before. With Yukino, he went back into the jungle, excited.

But this time, Jun was the most confident. After creating the map and catching a coconut crab, all four of his main attributes had surpassed two hundred.

[Name: Katō Jun

Hunger: 190/210 (Full)

Health: 220/220

Stamina: 230/230

Sanity: 200/200

Skill 1: Keeps one attribute from decreasing for 3 hours.

Skill 2: Throwing Accuracy (Passive)

Note: If average attributes reach 300 and a skill stone is acquired, a third skill will be unlocked]

Hmm… Unlock a third skill? But what's a skill stone…?

Jun shrugged, puzzled.

However, the second skill was truly amazing.

If Yukino could only shoot arrows with 5/10 accuracy, then Jun now had almost 100% accuracy.

The "Throwing Accuracy" skill left him extremely satisfied.

After secretly testing it by throwing stones, Jun was overjoyed like a child.

He could hit whatever he wanted—if he had a gun, he might even be able to curve bullets like in a movie.

This skill was practically a cheat. Jun was now not only fast and steady but also deadly accurate…

Combined with his first skill, Jun felt like an auto-aiming machine.

That's why today, Jun confidently asked Yukino to craft dozens of wooden arrows and carried them himself. He even took the bow from Yukino, as if he had forgotten how bad his aim used to be.

"Are we going the same direction as last time?"

Back then, they had to retreat due to the venomous snake incident.

The memory still left Yukino somewhat traumatized.

"No, today we're searching for a real freshwater source. If there really are other people on this island, they'll definitely be near the water."

Though they had collected a good amount of rainwater in wooden buckets, it was only a temporary solution. If they wanted to survive on this island, they needed to find freshwater.

A week had already passed, and the coconuts on the island were almost depleted.

"But this forest is huge. How are we supposed to find freshwater?"

Carefully, Yukino wrapped five arrowheads with bark and coated them with snake venom. Since today's destination was wild boar territory, those five poison arrows were their lifesavers.

"That's easy. Humans aren't the only ones who need freshwater—big animals in the jungle need it too. So if we follow the wild boars, we'll likely find water."

Exactly—wild animals usually build nests near rivers or lakes to access water easily.

"I see…"

Yukino carefully stored the five poison arrows on her back.

"So, for this journey we have to be extra careful. If we spot a boar, we immediately climb a tree."

"Yes, I understand."

Yukino nodded seriously.

They ventured into the forest, one in front, one behind.

"Look, we're at the last place where we saw boar tracks. There are fresh ones here too!"

Jun crouched down to examine the tracks carefully.

"They're messy… Looks like the boars ran in fear…"

Jun's expression grew serious. For wild boars of that size to flee in terror, the culprit was likely a large predator.

A leopard? Or a tiger?

Jun tightened his grip on the bow and arrow in his hand.

Every step forward had to be taken with more caution.

"Do you hear something, Yukinoshita…?"

Jun suddenly stopped walking, lowered his voice, and spoke to Yukino behind him.

"What kind of sound?"

Yukino's voice trembled slightly.

"Take a deep breath, then listen carefully…"

Jun pressed his palm to his ear, listening intently.

"That's a boar's grunt…"

Yukino heard it too. Then, sure enough, they spotted a wild boar munching on grass not far ahead.

"There's another sound too. I think we found the freshwater source!"

With the wind direction, Jun could hear the sound of flowing water.

It seemed there was a stream not far from them.

"That's the sound of running water…"

Yukino also heard the gentle gurgle of water over rocks.

They exchanged glances, then moved forward silently.

"We have to go against the wind and keep our bodies low. That way, the boar won't detect us…"

Jun and Yukino crept forward another dozen meters. But suddenly, the boar raised its head.

"It's getting suspicious! Yukino, climb a tree, now!"

Grabbing his bow and arrow, Jun shouted hurriedly.

"Right!"

Yukino handed him the poison arrows, then nimbly climbed the nearest large tree.

"Hurghh! Groarrhh…!"

Yukino's movements startled the boar, alerting it to intruders in its territory. But since the distance was still far, it only let out a warning cry—not an immediate charge.

Jun stood below Yukino's tree, ready to climb it.

But first, he took one poison arrow and put it on the bow.

It had to be said—Yukino's condom-crafted bowstring was of excellent quality. Jun had to use all his strength to pull it to the limit.

"Katō-kun, I think it's going to attack!"

Yukino saw the boar getting more and more excited as Jun aimed his bow.

"It's fine. I'll take care of it first!"

Jun aimed at the boar's eye and released the string.

Swish!

The poison arrow flew with a sharp whoosh, and the bowstring vibrated fiercely.

Jun trusted his aim, but he didn't wait to see if he hit his target. He immediately climbed the tree with his bow and arrows.

"I think it hit!"

Yukino watched the boar closely and saw the arrow hit it in the face.

The next moment, the wounded boar went crazy and charged.

Crash!

"That was close..."

Jun had just climbed up the tree when he felt cold sweat down his back.

The boar's charge almost knocked him off.

It's very dangerous...

Even though it had an arrow in its eye, the boar was still very powerful.

Jun realized how big the creature was when he got close. It had sharp tusks that were deep in the tree trunk.

"It's a big deal..."

Jun thought it weighed at least 400 kilograms. It might be taller than him if it stands up.

As we thought, the animals on this island were unusually large...

"Katō-kun, hurry up!"

Yukino reached out to help Jun climb higher.

"Yes!"

Jun used the brief pause after the boar's charge to grab Yukino's hand and climb up.

Crash!

Before he could catch his breath, the boar rammed the tree again.

The trunk was thick, but the strong impact made it shake.

"Oh no, could this tree fall?"

Jun wiped cold sweat from his face. Yukino's face was also pale.

The last attack made them think the tree would fall.

Luckily, it still held.

"It looks like one poison arrow isn't enough. Yukino, give me all the poison arrows!"

They couldn't wait—the tree might not survive a third charge.

"Okay!"

Yukino gave him the rest of the poison arrows from her back.

"This time, feel the power of three poison arrows at once!"

Jun stood on a branch and put three arrows on his bow at the same time.

After his earlier success, he felt confident he could shoot all three in one go.

"No way... Is that even possible?"

Yukino was shocked that the guy who used to miss so often now dared to shoot three at once.

"Just watch, Yukino!"

Twang!

The bowstring vibrated violently.

Three poisoned wooden arrows shot like beams of light straight at the boar's remaining eye.

They all hit the same place.

"GRUUUAAAAHHHH!!!"

The boar screamed as the arrows pierced its flesh.

The venom spread quickly through its eyeball and into its brain.

The huge creature was unable to see and was poisoned. It lost its way and hit a boulder, and its cry stopped.

"Is it dead?"

Yukino asked, looking at the boar, which was covered in blood and not moving.

"It should be. Neurotoxins work fast. Plus, it just hit a pile of rocks..."

Katō Jun jumped down quickly.

"I'll check. Yukino, don't come down!"

He didn't let her go down just yet.

"Okay..."

Yukino watched Jun approach the downed boar with concern.

"Yuck!"

It was still breathing, but its hurt face showed it was almost dead.

After confirming it was dying, Jun waved excitedly to Yukino.

"Yukino, come down! We're eating pork tonight!"

Jun looked very happy.

As Yukino got closer, he picked her up and spun her around twice to celebrate.

"Stop... put me down..."

Yukino pushed him away, blushing.

But as she looked at the boar's huge dead body, she was amazed.

Just a moment ago, she thought they were going to die, but Jun actually used poison arrows to defeat them.

"When did you get so good at this? There were three arrows in one spot, and the first one hit the eye too."

She looked at the arrows stuck in the boar's head and was shocked.

"Hehehe... maybe I'm good at archery..."

Jun didn't explain more. Though they had defeated the beast, a bigger problem now arose.

How would they carry something so big?

Jun rolled up his sleeves and gritted his teeth, trying to drag the boar.

But it didn't move at all.

It might weigh more than 500 kilograms.

It was almost impossible to move it without tools.

And the smell of blood could soon attract even more dangerous animals.

Jun started to lose interest.

What should they do? Just cut off a portion and leave the rest?

What a waste.

Yukino could tell that Jun was uncomfortable.

But she didn't know that either.

"If only we had a skill to make us stronger..."

Jun muttered to himself.

"Katō-kun, maybe we can try something along the river..."

Yukino pointed to the nearby stream. The water was very clear.

"You mean... use a wooden raft?"

"Yes. It looks like the stream is flowing toward the sea. If we build a raft, maybe we can transport most of the meat back to camp..."

Yukino had found a good solution.

"That's a great idea. Let's do it!"

Jun smiled and praised her, and immediately started preparing to build a raft.
