Chapter 51 - Zhāng 50

They all pointed their guns at Paige.

In a flash, Paige disappeared right before their eyes.

When she appeared again, it was followed by the screams of the PN Soldiers and the sound of limbs being separated.

A new group of men was now crawling on the ground.

The earlier dozen or so were already dying and couldn't move anymore.

"Ugh, such a low will to survive.

You know, even zombies without arms and legs still try their hardest to crawl and bite people.

You guys are really not trying hard enough," Paige said with disgust as she ended their lives.

She also said to the ones still crawling, "See that? If you can't move, this is what happens."

She didn't care if they could understand her, and continued walking ahead behind them.

Doesn't everyone know the saying 'when in Rome, do as the Romans do'?

They were on Huaguo's land now. If they couldn't speak or understand the language, it was their own loss.

There were only about thirty PN Soldiers stationed in this small town. Paige felt like she had just swung her blade a few times and they were all gone.

They were too easy to kill. Way too easy.

It wasn't satisfying. Not at all.

So, she ran to where the townspeople were locked up and tore the locks off.

The sound of chains clanking outside the door scared the people inside. They curled up in fear.

They were just ordinary people from the town. After the PN Soldiers took over, they killed anyone they saw, even old people and children.

When they saw women, it was even worse...

At first, the PN Soldiers killed people and left.

Later, for some unknown reason, they came back.

Then they gathered up the remaining townsfolk and locked them all up.

They gave them no food or water, and would beat them for no reason.

If they hadn't found some wheat bran and rough grain that the PN Soldiers didn't want, they would've starved to death already.

Sometimes, the PN Soldiers would even take people out to play a cruel game, make them run while they shot at them.

If anyone managed to escape the bullets, they would still be caught and hacked to death.

So every time the door opened, it was like a nightmare starting all over again.

"Those PN Soldiers are crawling out there. Do you want to go and take a look? Maybe throw a few stones or stomp on them a little.

If not, find a place to stay, or if you have relatives in the city, it's best to go there.

The towns nearby are all taken over by the PN, so it's best not to go there.

As for here, no one knows when the PN might come back," Paige said as she opened the door and explained to the people inside, then left.

There were still four or five more places holding people.

Every time she arrived at one, Paige would say something similar.

As for the last two groups of PN Soldiers, she had actually spared their lives.

Right now, they were under her watch.

Their weapons were gone, their legs were gone, and their hands were also gone.

Unless someone was dumb enough to lie down in front of them, they couldn't hurt anyone anymore.

She left them there to let the townspeople vent their anger.

Emotional wounds need emotional cures. The pain they suffered at the hands of the PN Soldiers needed to be repaid by those very same PN Soldiers.

At first, the people didn't dare go outside. They were afraid it was a trap set by the PN.

But then they realized, that was a Huaguo woman just now.

Still, the fact that she was a woman made them hesitate even more.

Any woman caught here was always tortured, how could one still be walking around unharmed?

Then they thought again, right, no ordinary woman could survive here like that. Maybe she really was something special.

So, everyone slowly walked toward the door together.

One, two, three...

When all of them had gone out and found no ambush, they cried with joy and hugged each other, sobbing uncontrollably.

Paige was the last to go to the place where the women were held, because she realized those women had already stopped breathing.

Several of them had clearly been dead for days.

The only thing she could do was help them get dressed properly.

Then she waited for their families to come and claim the bodies.

The next part could be handled by the soldiers. Paige locked the door again and headed toward the next town.

Today, she wanted to visit all the nearby towns to vent her anger.

Paige saw the people who had escaped running into some PN Soldiers crawling on the ground.

At first, everyone was frightened, after all, they had been under these enemies' control for a while.

But after seeing how miserable the soldiers were, some brave men tried stepping on them and found that the PN Soldiers couldn't resist at all.

All they could do was howl and crawl forward with force.

Thinking about their lost loved ones, the fear and abuse they had suffered, everyone went crazy and started tearing at the PN Soldiers.

They kicked, punched, and used all their strength to release their anger.

Soon, the PN Soldiers went silent.

But the people still didn't stop.

They kept beating them until the bodies were nearly unrecognizable, then burst into wild laughter.

They had finally avenged their families.

Then came the crying. They no longer had any family left.

Paige didn't bother with them anymore and went straight to the next town.

This time she didn't even want to pretend.

When she saw PN Soldiers, she killed them, treating everyone equally, no matter their rank. Two cuts per person, one to the head, one to the leg.

She tried to make the cuts neat and in the same place, so even if they tried to piece themselves back together, they wouldn't know whose.

Most likely, they wouldn't even get the chance to piece themselves back at all.

In every town, Paige would take all the PN Soldiers' weapons and ammunition.

She also took all the food.

She knew the food had been taken from the civilians, but the remaining people couldn't carry it away.

It was better for her to keep it and later distribute it to the survivors.

Each time she cleared a town, Paige would leave about a dozen PN Soldiers with no ability to fight back for the survivors to vent their anger.

She didn't know if it really helped, but if it were her, getting to beat them up would definitely help ease the pain inside.

She also informed those who had hidden and avoided discovery by the PN Soldiers that it was now safe to leave.

Paige even discovered a family of five, including a baby just three or four months old.

They were hiding in an abandoned cellar.

The house above looked like it had been deserted for a long time.

The people in the cellar didn't look much better. They had probably hidden there in a hurry and didn't bring much food.

They were all skin and bones, trembling in fear, afraid to come out.

Even the baby in their arms was weak, looking like it could stop breathing any moment.

Seeing this, Paige quickly pulled them out and saved them.

She believed that if she had come a day or two later, they might have all been dead.

She didn't have any hot food in her space, only canned goods and dry food.

People who had starved for a long time shouldn't eat meat right away, so Paige took out a few cans of fruit.

She remembered she still had water in her space. Though it was cold, it could soften the dry food to fill their stomachs.

Especially seeing their dry, cracked lips, it was clear they hadn't had water for a long time.
