The Bean-Faced Man looks at Netero strangely, as if exposing a secret. He seems to be saying, "Such a delicious drink, and the Chairman secretly keeps it to himself."
Netero is startled.
"You… what did you say?"
"I said it's delicious! What's wrong, Chairman?"
Beans, thinking Netero is angry, looks at him fearfully. He's never seen Netero this "angry" before.
Instead of getting angry, Netero snatches the cup. He pours the water onto the table, and colorful crystals appear.
"Conjuration and Transmutation appeared too. That kid…" Netero doesn't know how to describe Loki.
Specialization-type Nen users are rare among Nen users, but they exist. Generally, Specialization is a fusion of multiple types into a unique one. It can be further subdivided. But a Specialization-type's Water Divination usually doesn't show so many types simultaneously. At most, one type plus a non-standard type.
Loki's Water Divination showed many types, indicating strong talent in multiple types, possibly using multiple at 100% power. He hasn't shown Enhancement talent yet. If he did, Loki would be the most monstrous individual Netero has ever met.
"Chairman, what are you saying?" Beans asks cautiously.
Netero shakes his head. "Nothing. Are we near the Hunter Association?"
"Yes, Chairman."
"Good. Prepare to disembark."
Leaving the room, Netero is excited. 'A new monster might soon appear.'
"The four basic principles of Nen are Ten, Zetsu, Ren, and Hatsu. I'll demonstrate, and you follow."
The Hunter Association headquarters is a whole building. Netero's area is on the top floors—five floors for living, leisure, and Association business. He seems relaxed, but his time is limited. The Hunter's privileges mean the Association has much to handle. Netero only has two hours a day to train Loki.
Netero has a large indoor garden spanning two floors. The glass walls allow sunlight in, and a special ventilation system simulates natural wind.
Netero demonstrates the four principles. Ten involves concentrating Nen on the body's surface to stabilize it, affecting defensive capabilities. Zetsu involves reducing one's aura to near zero, making oneself undetectable and aiding in stamina recovery. Ren involves releasing more aura than usual. Hatsu is the culmination of a Nen user's techniques, creating unique abilities.
Loki puts on a Heart-style grey uniform. He feels like Goku training under Master Roshi.
Netero demonstrates, then sits to watch Loki. Ten, for example, requires practice to maintain a near-static aura, maximizing defense.
A man in a yellow checkered suit approaches. He has golden hair and a faint smile that seems sinister. This is Pariston Hill, the Hunter Association's Vice Chairman and a three-star Hunter.
Beans, carrying files, encounters Pariston. Pariston usually causes trouble for Netero but rarely appears where he is.
"Pariston?" Beans is surprised. "What do you want?"
"Nothing special." Pariston's smile is unsettling.
"Then why are you here…"
"Is that so strange? As Vice Chairman, I heard the Chairman exceptionally granted Hunter status to someone before the exam ended. I came to see."
Pariston stops smiling and looks toward the room.
"Someone the Chairman favors… how can I not be curious?"
Pariston enters the garden.
"Ren!!"
Loki concentrates, and the Nen, converted from shamanic power, surges. The air vibrates, and a powerful wind spreads.
Pariston, entering, is hit by the wind. His golden hair blows back.
Whoosh whoosh!!
The wind continues for several seconds before stopping. Pariston stares at Loki, stunned.
'This kid… the new recruit…'
Pariston knows Loki's file. He didn't use Nen during the exam, but now…
'The old monster found a young monster…'
Pariston composes himself. Netero and Loki look at him. Pariston approaches.
"Chairman Netero, is this the new recruit?"
Pariston's gaze is intense. Netero nods calmly.
"Yes. This year's first recruit!"
"First?" Pariston narrows his eyes. This implies more recruits. The Hunter Association had zero successful candidates for years. Seeing Loki, Pariston thought he was the only one.
"Does that mean there are other recruits?"
"Probably. There haven't been any new recruits for years. A bountiful harvest is normal."
"That's wonderful."
Pariston looks at Loki, who observes him in return. Loki recognizes Pariston from the anime. He's manipulative and difficult to deal with.
"Mr. Loki's talent is incredible. I heard you just started learning Nen."
"Yes," Loki replies, unsure of Pariston's purpose.
"What terrifying talent! If you need help, come to me. I'm Vice Chairman. Talented recruits like you will shine in the Association."
Pariston glances at Netero. "Having Chairman Netero's guidance… how enviable!"
"Chairman Netero, Mr. Loki, do you mind if I watch your training?"
'He's targeting Loki! Pariston is unsettling!' Netero thinks.
