Chapter 12 - CONFRONTATION BETWEEN MOTHER AND SON

When she keeps banging on the door with persistent effort. His eyes flashed with complete annoyance, and he pushed the blanket away and wiped the last angry tears away from his eyes.

He saw in the mirror how red his eyes were, but he didn't care. Not anymore. No matter what he does, it doesn't change anything. He stomped to the door with angry steps, his chest holding explosive anger.

"OPEN THE FUCKING DOOR OR I'LL SMASH IT DOWN!"

He immediately unlocked the doorknob and opened it. His mother was standing there in her same clothes, unclean and dirty. Her hair scattered like a bird's nest, and she glowered at him, asking, "Why aren't you in school? I saw your lights were on, so I knew you were still here."

Silas knew what she really wanted. She wanted to know if he had gotten the crack for her. He looked into her face with a sneer, "Mom, you're getting stupider by the second. Do you honestly think I don't know what you're trying to do?"

Their relationship at most is toxic and explosive. One moment, they can barely get along, and then they argue like the worst couple in the world. She pushed back her messy hair with her trembling hands, and her crazed eyes went to look past his shoulders, trying to see if he'd got the crack for her.

She licked her lips, and she smiled awkwardly, "I'm just trying to be a good mom. You're supposed to be in school so you can get a good job and get rich."

Silas looked at her with a flat expression and replied, "Sorry, Mom. I stayed home."

Then her eyes turned big, and a tinge of madness emerged in her gaze. She pursed her lips, holding her arms together like she was barely holding back her anger. She asked in a sharp voice, "Why are you home?"

She stared at him with an intense look, trying to understand her son, who seemed further away by the seconds or days. He's not that same boy when he was younger, sweeter, and nicer.

This young man before her with a long scar on his left cheek gave him a deadly aura, but she knew her son was harmless like a rabbit, and she usually could get him to do what she wanted. Sometimes.

But he's harder to convince than most people, and it takes almost everything to put him in a good mood, so he would do what she asked.

Silas said with a flat expression, "Like I said before, I wasn't feeling well."

Silas looked at her with a deep look, and he said with a bitter smile, "Mom, I know about the drug dealing you've done behind my back, so this is for the last time. I am not going to be your dirty errand boy anymore. Do you understand?"

She was stunned on the spot, her eyes widening in panic. It only proved that fat man's words to be true. She did go behind his back to get some crack and owed him almost six hundred dollars.

He wasn't sure what to think. His feelings felt too complicated, and his chest felt almost as heavy as the sea, and he said with a heavy expression, "If you want crack that badly, you can get it yourself. After all, you are an adult, and I need to take care of myself."

He swallowed hard once he got everything out of his system, and he looked at her for the last time, and he slammed the door in her face. He turned around back into his room, accompanied by silence and loneliness that seem to eat away at him.

He went to sit back on the bed, and he saw by the clock that it was still early. He needed to get out of the house and do something to take away the events from the day. Take it out of his mind. He saw it was almost around twelve, and his best friend was still at school.

Silas knew he needed to go back to school. He takes one of the most challenging classes, and it would be hard to get caught up if he missed too many classes. He went to grab his backpack and headed out of the door.

He sees his mother standing in the hall, looking at him with a sad face. He knew it was her tactics. She was guilty as a criminal yet still trying to manipulate him. Silas ignored her, her unhealthy state, and her messy hair.

She brought it upon herself.

Once he headed outside and headed toward his school. He entered the building and saw his best friend playing on his phone, and he walked toward James. James must have heard his footsteps and lifted his head at him.

Silas forced a smile on his face, and James had a worried look on his face. James said with a rare serious look, "Hey. There's something you need to know before you enter the class."

Silas felt his heart racing; a bad feeling warned him to be prepared. He clenched his fists, and the sickness grew in his stomach. He asks, "What is it?"

Before James could answer, some people who entered the hall had stopped moving in their spot, and their gazes toward him were strange. Off. Weird. They were looking at him like he did something terribly wrong.

Silas looked around and realized something was completely wrong; people around him and James were staring at them like some kind of secrets were exposed.

James grabs his arms, startling him, and he pulled Silas into a empty room, and James looked into his eyes with a serious look, "I warned you many times that old hag was no good for you, but you never listened to me. Now, look what she said online about you."

James took out his phone, and the screen turned to where a picture showed Mia in a pitiful chair, and her arms were stretched out like she was showing something to everyone. It was a video.

James played the video. It went on for nearly fifteen minutes, and Silas was completely stunned on the spot. Completely stunned. Mia had bruises on her arms and neck, and she said...

That he, Silas, had abused her emotionally and physically. That's why everyone was staring at him in the hall with those strange looks.
