Arjun was just a boy—yet to the world around him, he felt like an uninteresting object, barely noticed, barely cared for. He longed for silence and personal space, both at school and at home.
He lived in a rented house in Delhi with his family—his mother, father, elder brother, and himself. The house was big enough for the four of them, but for Arjun, even a large house felt small when you had nowhere to truly belong.
From the outside, he seemed like a silent, careless boy. But his silence wasn't emptiness—it was survival.
His story begins in Class 5.
At school, Arjun always sat by the window, away from the noise and laughter of his classmates. While others enjoyed their school life, he had only two goals in his six-hour day:
First, to study.
Second, to gaze out of the window and escape into the world of his imagination—where he created stories, people, and lives far away from his own.
His daily routine was painfully repetitive:School → Tuition → Study → Eat → Sleep.
He had no dream, no goal, no spark that others often speak of. His elder brother would often mock him, saying, "You'll grow up to be some drunk loser roaming the streets."
His mother never showed him affection. No matter what he did—right or wrong—she found fault. She never appreciated him, only blamed.
But Arjun never reacted. Like Anil from "The Thief's Story," he simply accepted things quietly. He pretended not to care. He ignored them all.
But deep inside… it hurt.
He was always zoned out, moving like a ghost through his own life. His mother never allowed him to go outside and play, and he never argued.
No one knew, but inside, he was breaking.
He often thought of ending it all. He tried. More than once. But somehow, he always failed.
One day he came to know about Navodhaya hostel (a govt hostel where top students were chosen by a entrance test) where his uncle already studied . Now his eyes sparkle he got a opportunity to get away from the house . It's time time of corona pandemic his classes were going online so , he has a better opportunity and too much time to prepare for his test of hostel . his exam was a month ago from the present day.
