Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: Make-up Class Teacher Cedric

"Hmm? When did that happen?"

Link's brows furrowed, and Cedric lifted his head again to look around before he continued speaking, "Just last night, those two boys had just come out from Professor Sprout's office when they were attacked by Emily Victoria and her group. And they were especially heavy-handed. Those two boys really got sent into the infirmary this time, and they still haven't come out yet. It's my fault too; at that time, I should have first driven away those Slytherins."

After speaking, a look of guilt appeared on Cedric's face.

Link lightly patted Cedric's shoulder to comfort him, and then continued asking, "But... why would that Victoria do such a thing?"

"Who knows. Since first year, she's been constantly picking trouble with Hufflepuff students, and every time it's without any reason, without any warning. The most hateful thing is, the professors always cover for her. I originally thought that with the start of this semester she would calm down for a bit, but didn't expect she would actually be so brazen."

Cedric spoke angrily, but soon he seemed to think of something and continued, "Let's not talk about this for now. You better be careful lately, don't wander around outside. You have to know, this year isn't ordinary, with the Savior Harry Potter enrolling, I keep feeling that Hogwarts is becoming more and more strange. Anyway, if you run into trouble, just find Uji and them, I've already spoken to them."

Just as his voice fell, the boy Uji who had just sprayed juice all over the table sitting next to Link smiled and made an OK gesture to Link, which made Link's impression of him improve quite a bit.

Link grinned back at him, then fell into deep thought.

Emily Victoria, this beautiful girl, had left a deep impression on Link. He always felt that her repeated attacks on Hufflepuff students must have a reason, and that the reason was very likely related to himself.

It was just a pity that there were no records about her in the original diary, which left Link with no clues for now.

Silently deciding not to provoke her for the time being, Link finally came back to his senses.

At this time, Cedric and the others also finished their meal and greeted Link before preparing to leave.

"Wait, Cedric."

Link hurriedly called out to him. Cedric was stunned when he heard this, and told his friends to go ahead first, then turned back to Link and asked, "What's wrong, Link?"

"I have something I want to ask you for help with."

Link said seriously, and seeing this, Cedric seemed to realize something, nodded, and brought Link along out of the Great Hall.

It was only after they reached an empty corridor that Link, looking troubled, opened his mouth, "Cedric, I recently feel that my magical talent seems to have gotten stronger. Before, in Charms class, I learned the Refilling Charm, and this morning I even successfully cast the Levitation Charm."

"Really? That's great."

Cedric nodded as he spoke, and from his expression Link could clearly see his genuine feelings. Cedric was truly happy for Link, which made Link feel even more relieved inside.

"Thank you, but you also know that for the entire last year, I basically didn't learn a single spell. Compared to the other students, I've fallen way behind." Link continued speaking, "So I was thinking... could you possibly tutor me?"

Hearing this, Cedric froze for a moment.

Link hurriedly added, "Don't worry, I won't take up too much of your time, just giving me a few pointers whenever you're free is enough."

Seeing Link's anxious expression, Cedric fell silent for a moment, then finally smiled.

"Of course that's no problem!" He lightly punched Link's chest and then said, "But I have to apologize about the time. Like I just said, the Hufflepuff Quidditch team has resumed training, and with the start of third year, I've got a lot more coursework too. So... I can probably only tutor you on weekend evenings, and even then the time won't be very long."

"I'm really sorry about that, Link."

"No, don't apologize, Cedric," Link said sincerely. "I'm already extremely grateful that you're willing to help. A bit shorter time is fine, I'll organize my questions every week before coming to ask you."

As Link spoke, the smile at the corners of his mouth grew even wider.

Having Cedric tutor him would definitely improve his learning efficiency greatly.

You have to know, after flipping through the first- and second-year Charms textbooks, Link realized, studying alone was definitely a terrible decision that would take double the effort for half the result.

The reason was simple. Hogwarts' textbooks were just too badly written.

Those textbooks were like some cookbooks Link had seen in his previous life, filled with vague quantities like "a suitable amount," "a little bit," etc. Without someone demonstrating and teaching personally, learners had to spend much more time trial-and-erroring in order to slowly find the best spellcasting methods.

For ordinary young wizards, this wasn't a big problem, because they had professors teaching them hand-in-hand.

But Link had missed an entire year of learning for no good reason, now it was a problem. Because professors wouldn't give him extra classes. Each of them needed to teach the whole of Hogwarts and were extremely busy, with no time to spare.

Now, Cedric perfectly solved this problem.

As for whether Cedric had the ability to teach Link, that didn't even need thinking about.

In the original story, Cedric was recognized as one of the best students in all of Hogwarts. If even Cedric couldn't teach Link, then it would surely be Link's own problem.

And there was an even bigger benefit to having Cedric tutor him. That was, Cedric could teach him many spells that weren't in the textbooks at all.

For example, the "Tooth-Growing Hex", which makes the target's front teeth grow rapidly and then automatically stop at a certain length. And the "Dancing Feet Spell", which makes someone's feet uncontrollably and frantically dance. To successfully cast it, you must have a clear and unobstructed view of the target.

These types of spells weren't particularly powerful, but their effects were extremely strange and interesting, so they were usually used for pranks, and were called prank spells.

Obviously, textbooks and professors would never teach spells that risked breaking school rules, so these spells were generally passed secretly among students.

But although professors didn't teach them, considering their simplicity and fun, which greatly boosted young wizards' interest in spellcasting, the professors didn't actually forbid students from using them either, it was a kind of tacit approval.

Of course, given Link's special status within Hufflepuff, normally no one would have been willing to teach him these spells.

But now, that was different. Link believed that as long as he asked, Cedric, this good-natured guy, would definitely not refuse.

'I have to say, Cedric is really a good guy.'

Looking at Cedric standing righteously in front of him, Link sincerely sighed from the bottom of his heart.
