Chapter 1 - Beginnings

A frail—looking boy with dark circles under his eyes, his skin looked pale. He was sitting on a wooden bench near a small house.

He was holding a cup— with tea inside. On his side was an older gentleman, he looked weak. His clothes ruggedy and old, his eyes had a dim glow.

"Ah! This tastes disgusting!"

The boy, Alter. Who just had his first and probably last high-quality tea. He stared at the cup in his hands, raising it to his to his eye level. With an intense look on his face.

"It tastes bitter huh? Well, that's good, It'll teach you that not all expensive things, are worth it."

The old man besides him, spoke in a relax manner. His tone, had a sense of warmth to it.

" Uh-huh, well. I guess that's a lesson learnt."

Alter, feeling disappointed and regretful. Sighed a deep sigh, before drinking the whole tea— whole.

This wasn't something new to him— in fact, he did it often with different things. One time, he tried buying out a whole Store of its food. And gave it to the homeless shelter.

He wasn't rich by any means, he just had enough to survive. But on that day, he gave it his all. And worked his hardest, it's safe to assume. From that onward, he never had a fixed sleep schedule.

"When are you leaving?"

" Uhm..Ahh, I don't know... father"

"... have you awakened your Will yet?"

"...No, I don't think I will ever awaken it"

In this world, Magic was the backbone of the world. Everything worked perfectly, because of it. Without it. They would still be living in caves.

Still holding onto the cup, Which only high ranking civilians could afford. He stood up, his gaze, wondering the land before him.

"Even if, I don't awaken. I still have the sword training you gave me."

"Yes, although yours still needs a lot of work no?"

"Uhahahah! I guess so, but I should find someone else to teach me, to be a master at it"

At the moment, Alter was but a amateur swordsman. Still holding the cup, he stared into the distance, dozing off. He slapped himself wide awake.

"Tsk. What a bloody rip-off"

After shaking his head and cursing a little. He throw the cup away, into the air, his father. Gazed upon it, he raised his hand, before igniting a flame. Burning the cup to ashes.

"Alter, I have little time left and—"

"I know! ... I just don't want to talk about that, it's hard enough as it is for me..."

"...." His father stayed silent for a few minutes, calming down Alter sighed. Finally turning to face him.

" Father, I know.... your uhm soul, it's heavily damaged"

That's right, Alter's father. Isaac. Was involved a fight that lead to him suffering heavy damage. Which would cost him his life.

He's time on this world was up.

Alter knows it, and is just waiting, unsure of what to do.

"Yes, but enough about me. Today is my last day and I think it's time to give you answers"

"What do you mean?"

For the longest time, Alter was lead to believe that, his mother Eliana, had diad giving birth to him. But that could be further from the truth.

"Your Mother, Alter. She is alive "

Hearing those words shocked him, He stared Binkley at his father. His emotions, out of control.

"WHAT!? what do you mean by that!!"

His anger was slowly taking control, he crashed his fists tightly. And before he could do more.

" Calm down Alter, I can understand how you feel. But anger is not the best solution towards this understand? I know fully well that you want answer and I'm going to answer them to the best of my abilities " he spoke with a gentle tone. His eyes growing dimmer by the second.

Alter could see it as well, seeing no better idea. He calmed himself down, taking a sit down beside his father again. Taking a deep breath.

" Where is that bitter tea, when you need one." He mattered to himself

"Now... where should I begin? But I guess the most important part of this is, Why. Well to be honest with you. I don't myself, she just left? Without worrying anyone

It was soul crashing, so much more than the pain I feel now."

Alter, still silent, listened. His eyes gazing into the distance. As Isaac continued.

A few hours had passed, he told him all he needed to know, all he knew.

As the hours passed, Isaac's eyes lost their glow. That sweet glow, gone .

Alter, turned to face, sighing disheartened.

"Father... I'll see you later. I'm sure our paths in a new life with cross...I will find her, no matter how long it takes "

That day, he lost his father, learned about his mother. And hated tea, that might change with due time.

" I'm all alone now, no money, no job, no family... " He slowly stood up, a single tear running down his left chan.
