Chapter 4 - They See Me Rollin'

Ji Won woke up in the infirmary—but instead of being healed by Nae Jin-ho, their wasn't anyone in the room with him.

He opened his system screen. A new notification popping up in front of him.

[Congratulations User!! You've unlocked a new skill and leveled up (+1)]

Ji Won's eyes gleamed with pride and happiness—His first skill ever had been unlocked.

[Username: Hyuk Ji Won]

[Level: 2]

[Stat Points Remaining: 1]

[EXP Needed to Level Up: 1000}

[Skills: Pride of A Masochist (level:1)] Press (-) to open description.

He pressed the button on the screen as another, smaller screen appeared besides the original one.

[Description: Grants User The Ability To Withstand 5% More Pain—Increases Chance Of Gaining Extra Endurance Points After Leveling Up By 10%.]

Ji Won grinned widely, he closed the screen as he looked at his stats—his ego rising higher then ever as he soaked in his stats.

[Strength: 11 (+)]

[Speed: 11 (+)]

[Endurance: 12 (+)]

[Intelligence: 11 (+)]

[Stamina: 11 (+)]

[Special Stat Luck: 1 (+)]

He hummed in contemplation—rubbing his chin as he squinted his eyes at the screen—the screen staring back at him.

I got a stat point.. What should I invest in?

His mind wandered to all the possible options—the extra strength, speed, endurance and all but his gut told him to go ahead and go all in on luck... And so, he pressed the plus sign next to the luck stat. The number going from 1—to 2.

Oh.. Yeah. I have two gambling points.. Lets test it out now shall we?

He thought to himself as a small—shaky yet still confident smirk spread across his face.

Just when he was about to switch to the gambling window in the system—the speaker in the corner of the ceiling suddenly came to life—a feminine and almost childish voice coming through.

"Dear Students! The System Bearer Academy of Hunters has decided to hold an evaluation test for the students that have potential to grow out of the Red List. It will be held at ten in the morning. Today, inside Sparring Facility number 1. Do not be late. So lets go!"

He grumbled slightly in annoyance—feeling like the academy was testing everyone far too much

"Is this a Spartan Dungeon or something.."

He muttered under his breath in frustration—genuinely wondering whether or not the academy was indeed, a dungeon.

He took another deep breath—clearing his mind before finally opening the gambling window of his system, the slot machine and button still there. Just waiting for him.

He took a deep breath and pressed the button for the first time, The slot machine spinning and whirring—the classes changing on the screen before eventually...

[Congratulations! You've Rolled A New Class! Common Class: Tank! Roll The Dice And Guess The Number!]

Ji Won breathed a small sigh of relief—his expression hardening in focus before he sat up straight in bed, getting right up next to the system screen and pressed the button to roll the dice.

The dice started spinning around for a few minutes before—the same smiley face from before covered it up and the same question from before was asked.

[What Is The Total?]

Ji Won paused—calculating all the different possibilities the dice could have had before slapping himself and blurting out in a manner that could only be described as idiotic.

"Twelve! I guess twelve!!"

The smiley face immediately started glowing as celebratory music started to come out of the screen and when it moved away—the dice indeed. Summed up to twelve.

Ji Won's heart jumped in happiness—a large grin on his face as he clenched his fist pumping it into the air in a sense of victory and accomplishment.

Lets fucking go!! I'm a tank now!

Another—smaller screen of the purple color appeared besides the golden, gambling window as it caught Ji Won's attention.

Hm? Whats this?

He asked himself before turning to look at the smaller screen, reading the text written on it.

[The User Now Has Two Options—Take The Class as a whole, or, Take One Specific Trait From It. Classes Can Be Changed, But Traits Are Permanent Until Or Unless They Are Deleted By The User. But You Can Not Have More Than Three Traits Stacked On Top Of Each Other. And—Combinations Affect The Growth Of Traits.]

[Two Options Are Available For Common Class: Tank]

[Option 1: Taunt (level: 1)]

[Description: Taunt The Enemy To Temporarily Lose Their Strategy And Cloud Their Judgement (Only Works On Monster Species)]

[Option 2: Strength (level: 1)]

[Description: Makes It Easier To Gain Extra Strength Points After Completing Achievements Or Leveling Up.]

[Choose: Class — Or Trait]

Ji Won looked up and down the options—holding his head in frustration as he exhaled through his nose—grunting in exhaustion as he did so.

Well.. I guess.. A trait is not that useful for me right now since I don't even have a class.. And I don't wanna roll again for a different class so.. Class it Is

He slowly pressed the option to choose the class—the screen dissipated as he started glowing a golden light—getting enveloped in it temporarily before it broke like glass—fading away completely.

[Congratulations! You Have Became A Tank! Your Stats Have All Been Increased By 2! Your Affinity With Weapons Related To The Tank Class Rises!]

Ji Won Slowly stood up—feeling his new and invigorated body which now felt like it could bench press a whole house and then some.

But his movements felt a bit more heavy—less nimble and agile, like his muscles and bones were weighed down by their own weight and mass.

"Well.. Everything has a downside I guess... Maybe I should have rolled again for a better—more balanced class."

He paused, realizing what he just said before shaking his head in frustration.

"But considering my luck it'll be like shooting an arrow from the top of Mount Everest..."

He muttered under his breath before his eyes flickered towards the clock—his expression immediately turning panicked.

10 A.M

Oh shit...

Ji Won immediately opened the door of his room—running towards the exit of the of infirmary once more, blitzing past the nurses and doctors in the halls.

He took shortcuts and even bumped into a few teachers who noticed his haste and so—let him be for now.

After a minute or two of running Ji Won finally arrived at the facility, which itself was outside of the main building of the SBAH.

It was a large building with white, metal walls and a high ceiling of the blue color that reflected the sunlight—it towered over most other structures in Seoul and there were other buildings like this on the campus.

Wait.. I'm getting sidetracked!

He bust through the doors of the building with a loud slam that caught everyone's attention—but not in a good way as the Vice Principal. Dae Youngjae.

A tall and young man with short—neat black hair styled in a comb-over and radiant yellow eyes and a stern and stoic expression—his lips tightly pursed into a line.

The building had fell into a thick silence—no one daring to speak but Ji Won was sure that a few people were laughing at him, because everyone knew what was going to happen to him.

"Hyuk Ji Won. What is this rather dramatic and almost childish act of being late?"

Ji Won rubbed the back of his head in an embarrassed manner but he remained calm on the exterior—wanting to hold onto any semblance of his coolness.

"Um.. Well, I just wanted to make a.. Flashy entrance?"
