Chapter 1 - Awakening

A young boy with silver hair sat on beautifully decorated arm chair wearing a party hat. In front of him were a large group of people who had all gathered to celebrate his birthday.

"Happy birthday to you

Happy birthday to you

Happy birthday dear Caden

Happy birthday to you."

A large birthday cake with a multiple of candles that form the number 16 was placed on a table and brought to him as the singing continued.

The crowd erupted into cheers and applauds as Caden blew out his candles. Caden turned 16 today and everyone was present to celebrate it. Everyone other than his parents.

Loud music started blasting through the entire mansion as everyone enjoyed themselves. Caden managed to squeeze his way out of his mansion and into the outside world.

He began walking around the city, exploring different places he had already been to as a way to clear his mind and gather his thoughts.

Caden hadn't heard anything from his parents since he turned 14 which was two years ago. Before that, they had been nothing but strict.

He had always found a certain comfort in his parents' strict but comforting attitude. That all changed when he turned 14 years old. It came as a shock but after spending his whole life building up his potential, he didn't awaken at the age of 14 which was the age at which every other member of his family awakened.

His parents had been disappointed after his birthday and had informed him about a trip they needed to go on a few months later. The last thing he remembers was waving them goodbye as they got into the ship.

Caden had managed to get a little further from his mansion when the thought of those around him entered his mind. He scrunched his nose as he thought of the hypocrites that always found themselves to him.

Ever since his parents left him with the mansion and more than enough money for the rest of his life, people started showing up randomly in his life.

At first, they were just long forgotten friends, then slowly, it evolved to strangers he had unfortunately waved at when he was younger.

Everyone who was around him showed him fake smiles as they took portions of what belonged to him. His money, his clothing, some even managed to force their way into the guestrooms of the mansion.

He had no way to force them out because he was still a child and everyone took advantage of that. All they needed was to be nice to him so the law wouldn't throw them out forcefully and they could do whatever they wanted.

Even though it was his birthday, everyone in his mansion were celebrating and wasting portions of his money with no care in the world.

Most didn't even notice he was gone, and those who did, didn't care.

"Ha, what could I expect from a race such as this. What could I expect from strangers when even parents were willing to abandon their own children because we didn't achieve what everyone else achieved." Caden said to no one in particular.

As he kept walking, he took a turn around a corner and saw a shop getting robbed. He was about to take out his phone and call the enforcers when he remembered something.

He looked at the scene closer and sighed in disbelief. He remembered perfectly well that this specific shop had a gun under the counter and from what he could see, the manager was free.

"Of course she wouldn't do anything, the shop doesn't belong to her. Better still, she'll be paid a portion of the insurance money for being on duty when the robbery happened, the whole shop could burn down as long as she got her money. Greedy bastard." Caden said as he continued walking and minding his own business.

Eventually, night fell and Caden made his way back to the mansion. Once he got there, he didn't go inside, instead he took a few twists and turns and ended up on the roof.

Once he was up there, he lay on the ground and looked into the night sky. It was a full moon tonight. He continued to stare into the night sky for multiple consecutive minutes with no thoughts running through his mind.

As he stared into the sky, something everything changed. Something unexpected occurred, something magical.

A shooting star darted past the moon and continued off into the distance. Something within Caden stured, an almost imperceptible movement that he caught only because his mind was blank. Caden was startled onto his feet as he looked around.

A random person jumps into a secret hideout they had built with their bare hands. Another is showered by a scattered box of playing cards. A young boy kneels down in front of a fountain to make a wish after tossing a coin into it.

Just like Caden, all three of them felt something within them sture as they were all momentarily startled.

All of them felt a sudden surge of power in them that lasted barely a few seconds but it was followed by intense headache and exhaustion. Despite everything, all of them were happy, incredibly.

Why, because these were all the signs of an awakening. Whatever they were doing at this very moment had caused the lid on their potentials to burst off. They finally could access their innate power.
