Zachary smiled slightly, showing a confident grin as if everything was under control.
"I know, I once saw those who were exiled in the waste zone."
Exiled people?
What does that mean?
Danielle looked confused.
Leng's team gasped, "Are they scary?"
Zachary shook his head, "Not scary."
Seeing Danielle still looking puzzled, Zachary continued explaining.
"Everyone knows that the waste zone is dangerous. Even criminals would rather stay in the prison and team up to hunt wild beasts every day than be exiled.
Those who are exiled are either big criminals or people who tried to overthrow the Eight Families."
"Overthrow the Eight Families?"
Danielle was genuinely shocked.
In her mind, the people here treat the Eight Families' words as sacred. The entire paradise is tightly controlled by the Eight Families, and even the central Sky City is built by them. How could anyone dare to resist the rule of the Eight Families?
Zachary remembered how those people spoke with passionate idealism and said meaningfully,
"Yes, they don't want to be exploited and controlled by the Eight Families anymore. They want to create a truly democratic society."
"In the future world, no one from the lower class would be killed by someone from the upper class without punishment. All resources would be fairly distributed, not just concentrated in the hands of the upper class."
Although Zachary scoffed at their ideals, he still admired their courage.
Danielle frowned, "This is impossible."
After all, how could there be absolute fairness in the world?
For instance, a person with high-level talents would never be treated the same as someone without any talents.
There could be fairness in certain aspects, like the value of life, but resources? That's definitely not the case.
If everything had to be the same, why would people with high-level talents bother hunting wild beasts? Could those without talents do it?
Zachary found Danielle's frown amusing.
He rubbed her little head until she shook it in annoyance and tried to hit him. He finally let go.
"Alright, whether it's realistic or not is their problem. Let's talk about how to remove the wristbands."
"Yes, yes, how do we take off the wristbands?"
Danielle and Leng's team were all eager to know. As long as they wore the wristbands, they were facing the risk of death.
Right now, they still had value, but what if those people went crazy because they couldn't capture enough?
Leng's team was nearly on Zachary's face, "Zachary, hurry up and tell us."
Zachary took a deep breath, "Think carefully. If you take off the wristbands, you'll lose your identification. If you want to come back, you won't be able to."
Danielle didn't say anything. At this moment, she didn't feel like speaking.
After all, she had to leave, but Leng's team was staying because of her. She didn't want to interfere with their decisions.
Seeing that Leng's team didn't speak, Danielle tried to comfort them, "Actually, you don't have to take them off. Maybe they won't catch us, and if they don't get useful information from you, they might let you go."
She said it with a little doubt though, because she clearly remembered how ruthless and vicious Long Xi was.
Leng's team shook their heads. "You don't have to comfort us, we're not children anymore."
They seriously looked at Zachary, "Zachary, if you have a way, tell us. We've already made our decision."
Leng's team was hesitant, but their hesitation wasn't about themselves—it was about their loved ones.
He tightly held Fei in his arms, and Fei looked up at him with a confused expression.
The young face suddenly smiled, "Brother, I like playing with Rain. The other children don't play with me."
Just these few words made him feel a pang in his heart.
He nodded firmly, "Okay, we'll play with Rain."
After saying that, he nodded again.
Zachary gave a soft hum, "Then you all take off the wristbands. It's actually a coincidence that this is not easy to accomplish without a healer."
When Leng's team was suddenly mentioned, they looked confused. Could a healer really be related to the wristband?
When they saw Zachary's actions, they instantly understood.
Zachary placed Little Rain's small arm in their hands. The wristband, motionless, seemed like it was attached to the wrist, as if one with the skin.
"Leng's team, when I make the move, you use your healing technique to cover Rain's wrist."
They felt an unexpected nervousness, "Is it dangerous?"
Zachary shook his head, "No, it will just hurt a bit. Rain, are you scared?"
Little Rain, only three years old, looked as pale as a sheet.
But he still bit his lip and shook his head, "I'm not scared."
Though small, he understood that his parents were in danger, and he had to be strong.
Danielle gently pulled Little Rain into her arms, "Good boy, mommy will hold you. If you don't look, you won't be scared."
"Mm."
Little Rain snuggled into Danielle's arms, holding out his arm straight.
Zachary smiled helplessly, "Don't be so nervous. It won't be too bad."
After all, no one had ever dared to take off the wristbands before.
But when the time came, it wasn't too difficult.
Zachary took a dagger and made a quick incision on Little Rain's artery.
Blood instantly sprayed out, and Little Rain's body shivered slightly.
Zachary carefully used the dagger to dig out the wristband. It wasn't very deep, but just enough to remove it.
Beneath the wristband were sharp, thin claws, like octopus legs.
As the wristband was removed, it kept grasping, until it was thrown onto the ground.
The wristband then spoke, "Host detected heavy injury, no life signs present. If the wristband is not reapplied within five days, account will be logged out."
After saying that, the wristband lay still on the ground.
Leng's team immediately began healing Little Rain's wound.
Her healing ability was perfect for this minor injury.
Within a few seconds, Little Rain's fair wrist had fully recovered.
Little Rain, with tears in his eyes, turned around, "Mom, look, my wound is healed."
Danielle turned and wiped her eyes, "Mm, Rain is so brave."
She felt useless.
If she had been stronger, Little Rain wouldn't have been hurt.
Zachary understood her discomfort; he felt the same way.
He reached out and comforted Danielle, pulling her into his embrace, "Actually, this is better. From now on, Rain won't have to be bound by those people."
Little Rain also nodded hard, clumsily wiping Danielle's tears.
"Yes, mom, don't be sad. Rain isn't in pain. Rain is strong."
Danielle sniffed, "Mm, alright. Then I'll go next."
"You can't!"
Danielle was taken aback.
