Chapter 10 - .10

Danielle tapped on her bracelet. "Alright, let's wait here for a while."

The guard didn't dare to chase them away since they had already secured a mid-level spot. So, he just pretended not to see the three of them sitting by the roadside.

Zachary tightly held Rain. Rain looked at Zachary, then at Danielle, and suddenly spoke.

"Mom, Dad's not happy."

Danielle finally pulled her eyes away from the screen and stared at Zachary for a while.

To be honest, she really couldn't tell that he was unhappy.

After all, he usually had a stern face and a cold expression.

But since Rain was his son, if he said he was upset, then he probably really was.

"Why are you unhappy?"

"I'm not."

Zachary coldly spat out a few words.

Rain pouted. "Dad is definitely not happy. Look, Mom, his hand is bleeding from picking at it."

Danielle looked down and saw it was true.

"You're acting like a child, picking at your fingers when you're angry. Just tell me what's wrong."

Zachary turned his head with a huff. "Nothing!"

Danielle…

Ugh, this annoying man!

Suddenly, she remembered something and slapped her forehead. How could she have forgotten?

"Are you upset because I didn't get you a ring? I was too busy earlier, so I just bought a pair without letting you choose.

Take these for now. When we have time, you can pick one you like, and I'll buy it for you."

As she spoke, Danielle opened her virtual screen and shared it with Zachary.

Zachary froze, and his cold expression softened a little. He looked at Danielle for a moment before awkwardly turning his head away.

"No need. This one's good enough."

So she did mean to buy a ring for him. He had misunderstood.

He couldn't help but smile a little.

Danielle didn't notice his small smile. She was busy checking the delivery status of the rings.

It was strange.

In Elysium, couples had to wear rings for the wedding ceremony. They also had to upload a photo to their bracelets.

Once approved by the system, the couple was officially considered married.

Such complicated rules.

They waited for a whole hour before a young guy wearing a black hat rushed over.

"Hello, here's your wedding ring order. Please confirm receipt."

Danielle curiously glanced at his hat. It was the first time she'd seen a different color of uniform.

Zachary quietly took note of her reaction.

Everything went smoothly after that. Danielle and Zachary officially became husband and wife, and the family of three entered the mid-level zone through a teleportation array.

The guard looked at Zachary with envy and muttered as they were leaving.

"Damn, this useless guy really got lucky. He actually married a high-level woman who brought him up a level.

Too bad, I'm much better looking than him, but no woman ever picked me. Life is so unfair."

Huh?

Danielle looked at Zachary's healthy tan skin, sharp eyebrows, and handsome features—he looked just like a young Louis Koo.

Better looking than Zachary? How did that guy come up with that?

She knew that in Elysium, pale skin was considered beautiful, since it meant you stayed indoors and didn't have to fight beasts.

But in her eyes, Zachary's strong, sun-kissed appearance was way more attractive.

The teleportation was smooth. So smooth that even after it ended, Danielle was still staring at Zachary.

His expression darkened. "What? Regret marrying me now?"

Hmm?

Danielle didn't follow his thinking right away. "Regret what?"

"Because I'm ugly, so you regret marrying me. If you really regret it, we can get a divorce. But you have to promise me you'll treat Rain well."

As Zachary spoke, he started to take off his wedding ring.

Danielle quickly reached out to stop him, eyes full of surprise. Was he joking?

In this world, being unmarried and losing your virginity was already enough to make people look down on you. If Zachary really got divorced, he'd be judged everywhere.

In Danielle's mind, once you marry someone, you have to take responsibility.

"Who said anything about divorce? Who said you're ugly? I think you're really handsome. Especially those eight-pack abs—I really like them."

Danielle got anxious and blurted out all her real thoughts.

Only after she finished speaking did she notice Rain's wide eyes.

She quickly reached out to cover his eyes, feeling awkward as her gaze quickly swept over Zachary's abs.

"Don't talk about divorce so lightly. As long as you don't cheat, I won't divorce you. We need to raise Rain together properly."

Zachary's ears turned slightly red, but he still nodded with his usual cool expression.

"I understand. So, where should we go now?"

Danielle looked around. The air in the middle zone was clearly fresher, and there was even a hint of blue in the sky.

There was some greenery by the roadside, and the busy streets felt much more alive than the lower zone.

"Let's take a taxi to buy a house."

Danielle casually hailed a small car, and the family of three drove away.

Meanwhile, things were exploding in the central zone.

Not long ago, a green light had shone over the entire central zone.

In just a moment, all the plants had grown rapidly.

The strong and mysterious green energy left everyone amazed.

But it quickly disappeared without a trace. No matter how hard people searched, they couldn't find the source.

At the Duo family home, an elderly man with gray hair sat at the head seat, with the heads of seven other families seated beside him.

Mu Lixin of the Mu family was the first to speak up, carefully testing the waters. "Old Master Duo, could that energy just now have come from Miss Dora, the savior girl?"

Mu Lixin already knew his only son had slept with Dora.

If that amazing energy had really come from her, then this marriage needed to be arranged quickly.

Duo Yunchang stroked his white beard and smiled without saying a word.

Everyone instantly understood his attitude and stepped forward to congratulate him.

After offering congratulations, Mu Lixin quickly brought up the marriage between Mu Qingfeng and Dora.

Duo Yunchang smiled and nodded. "I think the two children are a good match. October eighth is a lucky day—why not set their engagement for then?"

Mu Lixin's eyes lit up at once, and he quickly agreed.

Everyone was happily chatting, but upstairs, Dora was extremely nervous. Her hands were rubbing her expensive dress so hard it was nearly ruined.

"Dora, your grandpa wants you to come down and meet the elders."

Ning Wanrong gently pushed the door open and called softly.

Dora jumped up, her face pale. "Mom…"

Seeing the servants in the hallway, she quickly shut her mouth, but her expression remained anxious.

Ning Wanrong smiled helplessly and shook her head. "You're nervous again, silly girl."

She smiled while softly closing the door.

Then, smack—

A loud slap landed!

"Useless thing!"
