Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Empress and Princess

Somewhere within the City Palace of Wayoki—

The Imperial Palace of Wayoki City, the ancestral home of the ruling bloodline of the Imperial Ji Empire, stood as a bastion of elegance and political power in the heart of the Central Realm.

Within the secluded inner gardens, serenity prevailed—until it was shattered by the sharp crack of porcelain.

A delicate tea cup lay shattered on the marble floor, fragments glinting in the soft lantern light. Sitting rigidly in her ornate chair was a stunning young woman dressed in flowing golden-yellow silk robes embroidered with phoenix patterns. Her long raven-black hair draped down her back like a silken veil, and her eyes—burning with hues of phoenix-gold—flashed with cold fury.

She was Crown Princess Yu Sia, known throughout the empire as the Ice Princess for her rare Fourth-Grade Ice Spiritual Root. Her cultivation had already reached the Early Heavenly Eternal Empress Stage, a feat that placed her among the youngest prodigies in the Central Realm.

Across from her, sipping her tea with composed grace, sat her mother: Li Yu, the reigning Eternal Empress of the Imperial Ji Empire. With serene elegance and eyes as sharp as polished jade, her cultivation sat firmly in the Mid Refinement Stage of the Heavenly Eternal Empress Realm—a powerhouse in both politics and power.

"Yu Sia, calm yourself," Li Yu said softly, dabbing at the spilled tea with a silk napkin. Her tone was light, but the air around her chilled slightly—subtle, yet unmistakable.

"Calm myself?" Yu Sia's voice trembled with tightly coiled rage. "Mother, did you not read this?" She held up the newspaper, her knuckles white. "Sung Liuwa—of all people—has conceived a child! Just last week!"

Li Yu's gaze flicked to the article. She had already read it.

"My dear daughter," she said with a wistful sigh, "I once felt the same. Envy, resentment, a fire that refused to be extinguished. When Liuwa's mother bore her, I feared I'd be left behind. But then, not even a year later, I had you. And I was grateful—so, so grateful—for the life I brought into this world."

Yu Sia's expression faltered slightly, but the bitterness returned as swiftly as it faded.

Li Yu's eyes narrowed slightly. "But you... you were too reckless, Sia. You pushed your cultivation too far, too quickly. You ignored the consequences. While you competed with Sung Liuwa over breakthroughs, you neglected the crucial balance of timing—of when and how to bear your own child."

Yu Sia looked away, lips pursed in defiance. She hated hearing it—but she knew her mother was right. Now, standing at the doorstep of refinement, her window to naturally conceive had all but closed.

"I can always adopt," she muttered, rising from her seat. "One day, when I ascend to the Refinement Stage, I'll consider it."

Li Yu smiled faintly, sipping her tea again. "Then do as you must. Enjoy your evening, my daughter."

"I will," Yu Sia replied curtly, turning on her heel as she exited the garden.

As her figure vanished into the palace corridors, Li Yu set her cup down gently. The Empress closed her eyes for a brief moment, sensing the direction Yu Sia was likely to take. The night would lead her daughter toward the brothels and pavilions of the Pleasure Quarter—where warmth, distraction, and temporary bliss could dull the ache of envy.

Li Yu did not stop her. Better that, she reasoned, than letting her daughter spiral into a dangerous Flame Rage—a berserker state fueled by emotional turmoil.

Still... a quiet thought lingered.

Has she truly kept her purity? Or has the line already been crossed...?

Such matters were minor to some, but in royal bloodlines, purity and legacy were still tools of power and symbolism. And if Yu Sia could no longer conceive... what was the point of marriage, titles, or alliances?

Li Yu's eyes narrowed as she looked to the flowering trees swaying in the moonlight.

"Perhaps..." she murmured to herself, "...it's time I contact that old man again."

Her thoughts drifted deeper, past politics and pride—toward plans long buried... and opportunities still waiting to bloom.

Later that evening...

The night was still young. A full moon had begun to rise beyond the horizon, casting a silver glow over the bustling city of Wayoki. As twilight gave way to darkness, most residents returned to their homes, inns, and pavilions—settling in for rest beneath the tranquil sky.

But for Wei Chen, the night had taken a different turn.

Still slightly intoxicated from earlier, Wei Chen staggered through the streets. He had underestimated how much inner turmoil he was still carrying—suppressed emotions threatening to boil into Flame Rage, a volatile state no cultivator dared to fall into casually.

"Should've just meditated... but wine's cheaper than a shattered core," he muttered to himself with a bitter smirk. Unfortunately, most of the cheaper alcohol had already been bought out by the growing crowd of cultivators flooding the city. What remained were luxury wines—strong, expensive, and not exactly easy on the senses.

Wei Chen had managed to grab a bottle of potent red wine. He took a single sip—and then, without restraint, downed the rest.

"Ugh... this stuff's too damn strong," he groaned, swaying slightly as his vision blurred. He made his way unsteadily toward the Pleasure District.

As he stumbled forward, a soft, sultry voice chimed beside him.

"Fufu~ Need a little help, handsome?"

Turning, Wei Chen found himself face-to-face with a woman of striking beauty—long jet-black hair, flawless skin, and a luxurious white silk robe that barely concealed her charms. Her gaze was sharp, seductive, and unmistakably noble.

Despite her appearance, Wei Chen was unfazed. As a cultivator walking the Immortal Path, he had long since grown resistant to the shallow lusts of mortal flesh. Still... he felt a faint spiritual aura from her—refined, yet distant. Her spiritual root, he sensed, was far removed from fertility. She wouldn't be able to conceive.

Without a word, Wei Chen gave a tired nod.

Later, within a private inn—

The two shared a night of carnal indulgence, but for Wei Chen, it was hollow. He lay there, eyes staring at the wooden ceiling, expression unreadable.

Women here are... more draining than satisfying, he thought grimly. Central Realm cultivators have no sense of restraint.

The next morning...

Wei Chen woke to the early sunlight filtering through the window—and a surprise.

At the foot of the bed lay a velvet pouch stuffed with High-Grade Spirit Stones—at least a hundred of them. His eyes widened.

"Huh. I guess she wasn't just a noblewoman... More like a desperate one."

With his travel expenses now effortlessly covered, Wei Chen wasted no time. After a quick wash, he ventured back into the city markets to stock up.

Five hours later, he moved through the merchant stalls with focus, purchasing dried spiritual rations, refined energy pills, and other essentials. Eventually, his eyes landed on a seller with a set of untamed talismans. He purchased one.

Thanks to his Holy White Sage Spiritual Root, Wei Chen could reshape and refine talismans to his liking—within the limits of his cultivation level. After finishing his preparations, he summoned his Large Paper Talisman, mounted it, and soared into the skies.

Meanwhile, back at the City Palace...

The Holy Sword Sect's grand flying ships had just arrived and docked near the palace. Inside one of the royal chambers, a disturbing revelation unfolded.

Yu Sia, the Crown Princess, lay weak on her bed, breathing heavily after vomiting into a nearby basin. Around her, several Imperial Healers whispered nervously after completing their diagnostic.

One stepped forward with disbelief in his tone. "Your Highness... you are pregnant."

Yu Sia's eyes widened. She turned slowly toward Sung Liuwa, who stood beside her.

"Heh... I'm pregnant... just like you," Yu Sia whispered with a faint, almost mocking smile.

Sung Liuwa sighed, brushing her fingers gently through Yu Sia's disheveled hair. Despite their rivalry, there was still a bond beneath it all.

"Enough with the competition. We're both going to be mothers now. Save your strength," Liuwa said softly, placing a hand over her own barely noticeable bump.

Across the chamber, Empress Li Yu stood in stunned silence beside Yang Sung, the Sect Master of the Holy Sword Sect. Her eyes, sharp and calculating, were filled with disbelief.

"This shouldn't be possible... unless—"

"I may have a theory," Yang Sung said, breaking the silence. The room turned toward him.

"Did either of you encounter a young man... wearing the robes of a herb cultivator, with black hair, and a quiet demeanor?" he asked.

Yu Sia froze. Her mouth opened slightly, a mix of disbelief and recognition flooding her expression. Sung Liuwa's eyes also widened. They both remembered him—the same man from their separate, secret nights.

The two women looked at each other in dawning realization.

Then Yu Sia shot up from her bed and rushed to the window.

"There! That's him!" she shouted, pointing at the sky.

Outside, a large talisman, glowing with faint spiritual runes, was soaring toward a formation gateway.

Sung Liuwa joined her, eyes filled with urgency. "Father!"

Yang Sung didn't hesitate. "Disciples! Give chase immediately!"

"Guards! Aid them!" Empress Li Yu commanded, her voice icy with royal authority. "I want that man apprehended!"

Dozens of flying swords and elite disciples surged into the sky, weaving through clouds at blinding speeds. But the talisman was already nearing the shimmering gateway formation.

Sung Liuwa clenched her fists, that same dreadful feeling of fate slipping away gripped her once more. For Yu Sia, this was her first true taste of loss—and it shattered her usual coldness.

But it was too late.

Wei Chen's talisman reached the gateway and disappeared into the portal. The man who unknowingly fathered not one, but two children of fate, had vanished into the unknown once more.

Yu Sia collapsed to her knees, eyes still locked on the empty sky. Sung Liuwa knelt beside her, embracing her.

"Don't worry," she whispered. "We'll find him."

Empress Li Yu looks at Yang Sung for answers on how did that man was able to impregnanted both her and his daughters. Its no such chances.

"Its....impossible...is it?" Yang Sung said to himself as the three woman all look at him

"What's impossible father?" Sung Liuwa asked

"He cant be....or is it" Yang Sung didnt answet fully

"Old man, tell us who is this man" Li Yu Demanded

"That Storekeeper, what ever his name is. He is a Holy Sage or more on point, he has the ancient Holy Sage Spiritual root" Yang Sung answered

Sung Liuwa and Yu Sia were abit confused on what's a Holy Sage Spiritual Root. They wonder if its a rare spiritual root in the many realms.

But for Li Yu, it shivers her body as she breath in cold air.

"Impossible! Its been hundreds of thousands of years for that Spiritual root appear! Its too rare to be true!" Li Yu shouted in her disbelief on what Yang Sung spoke.

"Its clear already, both our daughters gotten themselves pregnant with the Store Keeper. Its already unbelieve-able that they got pregnant with out any such possibilities" Yang Sung remarked

"Mother, whats this Holy Sage Spiritual root?" Yu Sia asked

Li Yu looks at her Daughter and sigh since the two needs to know how very importent the Holy Sage Spiritual root is.

"Its a Cultivation root that is the weakest in combat but is a purifying Root of the body. Its very pure and very refine in the inner Qi body and bones. So pure and very very importent then a person with the Heavenly Golden Emperor Body or a Spiritual attribute. Remember, once we become Immortals our bodies become too refine and perfected. But with a Purity of that of a Holy Sage Spiritual Root and if it is refined to the Holy White Sage Spiritual root. Its the only way for Immortal Women like us three that are in the highest levels of our cultivation stages, to concieve a child. And that child could be powerful to have a possible immortal bodies such as the pheonix body or the Dragon body or even anything powerful. Even so the Holy Sage Spiritual Root hadnt been into existnace since more then five hundred thousand years" Li Yu Explained

Sung Liuwa and Yu Sia were surprise on such existance of a Spiritual root that didnt exist for such a period of time.

With such information, The chase for the storekeeper now really is importent or else in thw future, the many realms will have major power houses which will cause imbalance of power.

Inside the imperial chamber...

Empress Li Yu turned her piercing gaze toward Yang Sung, demanding answers. Her voice, though calm, carried the weight of authority only an Eternal Empress could wield.

"How...?" she asked, eyes narrowed. "How did that man manage to impregnate both my daughter and yours? There shouldn't have been a chance."

Yang Sung stood silent for a moment, brows furrowed in deep contemplation.

"It's... impossible... or is it?" he muttered to himself, almost as if trying to convince his own mind.

Sung Liuwa stepped closer. "What's impossible, Father?"

Yang Sung didn't answer immediately. His hesitation drew increasing tension in the room.

"He can't be... but everything lines up," he finally murmured.

Li Yu's patience ran thin. Her voice sharpened like a blade. "Speak, old man. Who is that man?"

Yang Sung exhaled slowly. "That storekeeper... whatever his name is. He's not ordinary. He carries the Ancient Holy Sage Spiritual Root."

The room fell into stunned silence.

Yu Sia and Sung Liuwa exchanged confused glances.

"The... Holy Sage Spiritual Root?" Liuwa echoed, uncertain. "Is that... rare?"

But Li Yu—unlike them—stiffened, her body trembling slightly as she inhaled sharply.

"No... It can't be," she whispered. "That root... it hasn't appeared in over five hundred thousand years. It's practically a myth!"

Yang Sung nodded grimly. "And yet, here we are. Both our daughters—immortal women with cultivation at the peak of the Heavenly Eternal Empress Realm—are with child. That alone defies logic. There's only one kind of spiritual root known to make such a thing possible."

Yu Sia stepped forward, her voice uncharacteristically gentle. "Mother... What exactly is the Holy Sage Spiritual Root?"

Li Yu looked at her daughter for a long moment, then sighed. She could no longer withhold the truth.

"It's... a spiritual root of purification," she began. "Unlike battle-type roots like the Fire or Lightning Attributes, the Holy Sage Root is weak in direct combat. But within the body—it's divine."

She continued, voice growing more reverent.

"It purifies bones, meridians, qi... even the soul. A cultivator born with it possesses unmatched spiritual purity. When further refined into the Holy White Sage Root, it becomes even rarer—capable of restoring balance to even the most refined immortal bodies. That's why..." she paused, then finished with quiet awe, "...that's why it's the only root capable of allowing Immortal Women like us to conceive."

The words struck like thunder.

"If a child is born from such a union..." Li Yu whispered, "they could inherit a divine body. The Phoenix Vein. The Dragon Core. Or worse—something we can't even predict."

Sung Liuwa and Yu Sia stood speechless, the weight of the revelation settling in like a dense fog.

"Now do you understand?" Yang Sung said, his voice grave. "This is no longer about scandal or reputation. If that man vanishes... the balance of power between realms could be shattered. Entire dynasties could rise or fall on the backs of the children he fathers."

The chamber fell silent again.

For the first time in centuries, Empress Li Yu and Sect Master Yang Sung were united by fear—not for their children's future—but for the future of all the realms.
