Aurora took a deep breath as she sat down with her parents, Nicole, and her father in the living room. She had been wanting to tell them about her relationship with Luna for a while now, but she was nervous about how they would react. "Mom, Dad, Nicole, I need to tell you something," Aurora began, her voice trembling slightly. "I've been wanting to share this with you for a while now, but I've been scared."
Her mother, Karen, looked at her with concern. "What is it, sweetie? You can tell us anything." Aurora took another deep breath before blurting out the truth. "I'm in a relationship with someone. Her name is Luna, and she's amazing. We've been together for a few months now, and I'm really happy."
The room fell silent, with her father, John, looking like he had been punched in the gut. Nicole's expression turned cold, while Karen's face was a mix of surprise and concern. John was the first to speak up, his voice laced with anger. "What are you talking about, Aurora? You're not...you're not gay, are you?" Aurora nodded, her eyes welling up with tears. "Yes, Dad, I am. And I'm happy. Luna makes me happy."
John slammed his fist on the coffee table, making everyone jump. "This is ridiculous! You're just confused, Aurora. You need to snap out of it." Karen tried to intervene, placing a calming hand on John's arm. "John, please listen to Aurora. She's trying to tell us something important." But John shook her off, his face red with rage. "No, Karen, this is not okay. Our daughter is not going to be...be...one of those people."
Nicole spoke up, her voice dripping with malice. "Yeah, Aurora, Dad's right. This is disgusting." Aurora felt a sting from Nicole's words, but she refused to back down. "I'm not ashamed of who I am, Nicole. And I'm not going to change for anyone." Karen stood up, her voice firm. "That's enough, John. And Nicole, I'm disappointed in you. Aurora deserves our love and support, no matter what."
