Chapter 1 of "Falling for U":
Chapter 1:Anonymous Notes, but Make It Music
I don't talk much in class.
Not because I don't want to—but because I'm busy listening.
To voices, laughter… and playlists.
Specifically, my playlist.
It started as a silly thing.
A public Spotify playlist I named "For When the Sky Feels Heavy." I'd update it every time I felt too much. Sad? Add "Youth" by Troye Sivan. Happy? Throw in some Seventeen. Crush? "Electric Love" sneaks in like a secret confession.
No one noticed.
Until one random Monday, someone added their own song.
"Say You Like Me" – We the Kings.
Not mine. Not in my vibe.
Still… I left it.
The next day, a new one appeared.
"You Make Me" – DAY6.
My heart? Slightly malfunctioning.
That's how it started—our silent war of songs.
---
By week three, it wasn't just a playlist.
It was a conversation.
I'd post "I Like Me Better" and they'd reply with "Falling Like the Stars."
They'd add "Can I Be Him" and I'd blush ten different shades, adding "Don't Get Me Wrong" like a shy rejection.
But then "Maybe" would pop up.
And I'd smile.
It wasn't a game.
It was a secret.
A soft crush with a beat.
---
"You're smiling at your screen again."
Kilie, my bestie, leaned on my desk, raising a brow.
"Just… vibes," I muttered.
"Uh-huh. Is it Him again?"
She knew about Playlist Person. Not their name. Not their face. Just their rhythm.
I shrugged. "They added a Taylor Swift song today."
"That's code for love, babe."
I rolled my eyes.
But deep down, I knew she was right.
---
Then came The Fest.
Our school's annual function.
This year's theme: "Hidden Messages."
Cool, right? Until they made it a thing where each club had to contribute creatively.
I was from the Radio Club.
Obviously, our job was… well, music.
That's when our teacher dropped the bomb.
"We're doing live dedications on stage," she said. "Pick something personal. A story, a connection."
My brain panicked.
I thought about Playlist Person.
Was that personal enough? Or too much?
I almost said no.
But then…
The class topper, mysterious boy #1, walked up to the mic.
Him.
Ryan. Quiet. Sharp jawline. Always zoned out in class—but top ranker in literally every subject.
"I'll be playing guitar for the final segment," he said, his voice calm. "I have a set."
The teacher nodded.
But I?
My soul just levitated.
---
Fest Day.
Stage lights. Nervous breath.
I stood backstage, watching everyone perform.
Then came Ryan
He walked up, tuned his guitar… and said—
"This one's for someone I don't know.
But I know her songs.
Because I've been falling for her playlist.
And now… maybe for her, too."
My heart STOPPED.
He strummed the chords of "You Belong With Me."
Then "Electric Love."
Then… all our songs.
One after another.
By the time he ended with "Until I Found You," the crowd was clapping.
Cheering.
I stood frozen.
Then he looked straight at me.
Somehow, he knew.
And when I walked to the stage, knees weak but heart loud, he leaned forward and whispered:
"So… was that a yes?"
I nodded.
The crowd? Exploded.

End of Chapter 1.
