Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Unepic Beginnings

Chapter 2:

Following the implosion, our test subject… *cough* I mean our unlucky first volunteer was indeed successfully transferred to an alternate timeline. With the machine's programming, he will be tasked with multiple missions directly implanted into his "new" brain by this artificial entity.

The main goal drafted by the scientists and the artificial intelligence is for a subject transferred to a new timeline to gradually alter the timeline further from its original course to allow said timeline's continued existence.

The theorized problem is that the new timeline will eventually be absorbed back into the original timeline. To curb such an event, our dutiful scientists found how to implement a system of protocols into these "travelers" to their new timelines.

Theoretically, the scientists proposed that if they can implement a unique mechanism that will activate upon the successful completion of a traversal. The traveler could increase the initial chance of survival while also increasing the chances of successfully changing the timeline enough for it to stabilize.

Though most of their ideas were just in the drafting phase, and the actual implementation may not be perfect, as it is clear that the project was still ongoing. The initial machine was theoretically supposed to work, but that was never to be seen by those who built it.

The one who witnessed its processes in full is our main character, The Professor. After the implosion on Earth in the original timeline, Mr.Professor was sent to a dimensional space outside the 4th dimension, foreign and unidentifiable to the 4th-dimensional human consciousness. Leaving the man in a state of total unawareness for an unfixed period as it doesn't apply here.

So, to his understanding, he was in the machine then almost instantly, after appearing in a dark space. Arriving in the dark space, he slowly noticed a bright opening, by now, his consciousness is slow, almost like a dream, where you feel nothing is in your control.

As his consciousness fades in and out, he can observe that "he" is moving closer and closer to the light at the end of this never-ending tunnel. Upon reaching the end of the tunnel, the nightmare truly began to set in for him as he again began to slip into unconsciousness.

Immediately upon gaining consciousness, he realized that he had begun reaching the light. "He" felt a strong sense of discomfort and notable but uncertain sensations of pain radiating throughout his "body".

Soon, he felt a strong grip on what would be his head area, and from the rest of his body, he felt the warmth of the dark walls and the moisture drenching his entire being.

Even feeling these sensations, reality sadly still hasn't begun to dawn on our professor, whose consciousness is in a dreamlike state, trapped within a newly born, undeveloped baby human's brain.

But none of the baby's internal problems and thoughts could reach the expert midwife now starting her work. She easily pulled the baby out of the birthing cavity and cut the umbilical cord immediately. Then she turned to one of the many ladies in the room, handing her the freshly cut cord.

Once the lady received the cord, she smiled at the new mother before giving congratulations. Then running off to a special area of this beautiful palace to bury this child's umbilical cord with great fanfare, she was cheered on in her task by the many servants observing her movements.

Now back to the midwife still holding the newborn, she quickly checked the baby's genitals and announced in a loud voice to be heard over the now crying baby, "IT'S A BOY!"

Following her announcement, the gaggle of women in the room were yapping with praise and congratulations to the new mother! Who, to her credit, took it all with poise and grace despite having been in labor for hours.

The midwife, still holding the baby, motioned to another woman in the room dressed similarly to the midwife. This woman carried a small, beautiful beyond-compare ceramic basin filled with Salty water.

With expert precision, the midwife dunked the baby in the basin and began to clean it from head to toe. Whilst also examining the with her trained eyes the baby's features, looking for any possible problems!

Noticing none she then pulled the now clean baby from the basin, placing the baby in the cloth to dry for a moment. Then, after drying, she began to dress the baby in the prepared ceremonial newborn clothing.

A cloth diaper, a handcrafted onesie and a baby vest to match, and even little baby booties. The sheer cuteness of this baby was too much for the woman in the room, and the chatter in the room reached a fever pitch.

That is until a woman looking to be in her early Middle Ages stood up. Every woman in the room, even near a seat, except the woman who just became a mother, stood up and was at attention.

The woman gave a glance at the room and the baby then announced, "Go! Tell our Great Padishah we have a new sezade! GO QUICKLY NOW!"

Following her words, she gave a few shooing motions toward the servant closest to the door. The new mother was now being introduced to her baby boy in all his glory, dressed elegantly from the day of his birth!

The new mother, seeing her baby boy resembling her and her lord, she instantly felt her motherly instincts overflowing. Once she had the boy in her grasp, never wanted to let go, she let out a very deep and emotional cry as she now felt a true and deep sense of love toward her child, something she never once felt before.

A few moments and lots of tears from the new mother and her servants and confidants later. The father entered the room alone, no court officials or servants following along.

The man who entered goes by many a title! Padushah, Sultan, Khan, Caesar of Rome, Steward of the two holy mosques. The titles are grand and endless, but here the man stood in awe, looking at his woman holding his small and fragile baby child. It was an emotional moment for the man.

A Sultan must not show such emotions on his face. This man especially knows how to hide his emotions as he has sat on the throne since he was 6 years old, nothing but a boy!

Now he stands here, 22 y/o watching his children being brought into this world. He began to think his perseverance was well worth it!

After looking at the woman and the baby for a few more moments, and shared a brief eye conversation with the mother of his child. He walked toward the middle-aged regal woman now standing next to the new mother and baby pair.

He walked up and said "Sultanim" before reaching for her now already raised hand and giving it a small familial kiss. This woman is the Valide Sultan, the mother of the current sultan, the highest-ranking woman in the entire Ottoman Empire.

This woman was not one to be taken lightly, one of only two women to officially become regent of the empire, holding supreme power for that period. Now her son is of age, so there are no regents, only viziers and grand viziers!

But as we all know, power doesn't transfer just because it's supposed to. Let's be clear, the sultan is not without power, but that doesn't mean the Valide Sultan is powerless either.

But let's put the power dynamics aside, this is a celebratory day! Our Sezade has been born, and the excitement has only just begun!

Once all this concluded, the days passed fast, and soon it was the seventh day of the week. The Sultan hosted the naming ceremony!

Though he wasn't born in the capital, but in Edirne, the old capital, the ceremony was still a spectacle to behold! Animals were slaughtered, and feasts were held. There were many candles lit, cannons were fired, and the music was blaring! And the entertainment was endless, from acrobats to military bands.

There were regular protocols to follow as well, such as the reading of the imperial edict. There were many traditional Sunni prayers sung. And often when the music stopped blaring, you could hear the occasional town crier announcing the good news to any who could hear it over the ruckus.

The best part for the people was probably the alms given by the sultan, as they were needed, given the poor state of affairs in the empire of the late 17th century.
