A man with striking features sat behind the desk, his eyes staring holes into the document in front of him,his brows furrowed ,he was rubbing his temple while signing documents,
Just as he was finishing up the last of the papers, his assistant,Rowan, knocked on the door and entered with a stack of files. "More documents for your signature, sir," Rowan said, setting the files down on the desk.
Alex rubbed his temples, feeling a headache beginning to form. Rowan noticed and frowned. "are you okay? You look like you're in pain."
Alex waved his hand dismissively. "I'm fine, Why don't you head home? I'm going to be working late anyway."
Rowan hesitated, but eventually nodded. "Okay. If you're sure you're okay..." He trailed off, then turned and left the office.
As the door closed, Alex let out a sigh and leaned back in his chair. He did have a headache, and it was starting to get worse.
He thought about calling Liam, but decided against it. He didn't want to bother his friend with something so minor.
Instead, he focused on the documents in front of him, trying to push through the pain and get some work done. But as the hours ticked by, the headache only grew worse, and Alex found himself wondering if he'd made a mistake by sending Rowan home.
He checked his wrist watch and decided to go home,He got into his car and started the engine.
As he drove away, his eyesight began to blur. Suddenly, a figure jumped in front of his vehicle, and he slammed on the brakes.Alex leapt out of the car, only to find a girl lying on the ground in a pool of blood.
"More trouble"he sighed while massaging his temple,He scooped her up and laid her in the back of his car. He quickly dialed Liam's number as he sped towards the hospital.
"Liam, it's Alex. I've been in an accident, are you at the hospital," he said.
Liam's calm voice came through the phone. "Yes, what's happening? Where are you?"
There was no response,Liam sighed"cold as usual "
He pulled into the hospital parking lot and rushed inside with the girl in his arms. The doctors and nurses sprang into action, taking her from him and rushing her into the emergency room.
Alex was left standing alone, his headache pounding in his temples. He felt a hand on his shoulder, and he turned to see Liam standing behind him.
"Alex, what happened?" Liam asked, his eyes scanning his friend's face.
Alex took a deep breath and recounted the events of the past hour. Liam listened intently, his expression growing more serious by the minute.
"Do you think it's them"Liam asked,Alex shrugged and said"handle it".
Who does he think he is giving command to, Liam complained but he could not say it out loud."You need to get checked out too. You're not looking so great."
Alex nodded, feeling a wave of exhaustion.Alex trailed behind Liam, as they made their way to Liam's office for a check-up.
As soon as they entered the office, Liam's demeanor shifted dramatically. He started jumping up and down like a kid on a sugar high, a goofy grin plastered on his face.
"Dude, I'm so excited to check you out!" Liam exclaimed, bouncing around the room.
Alex, however, remained stoic. He pulled out his phone and dialed a number, his expression serious.
"Rowan, I need you to investigate what happened tonight. I need to know if they're involved, and handle it discreetly. Not a word should leak out."
"Have some painkillers ,you need to create time to rest"Liam said worriedly as he handed some drugs to Alex, his mood darkened,
Alex shrugged and collected the drugs from him, there was a knock on the door,
"come in"said Liam as he turned to look at a doctor on overall white, putting on a glasses "how is the situation"
The doctor breathes a sigh of relief and said "she is stable,it seems that her family is here"
"I will take care of it "Liam said as he head to the waiting room with Alex.An elderly woman looking like she is in her 40's was crying uncontrollably and a young boy of 15 was comforting her.
"Ma'am can we see in my office"Liam said his gaze piercing Alex who shrugged and left. The woman looked up and saw a young man in a white coat.
"It's concerning your daughter ava martin"Liam added as he recalled the name written in the driver's license inside the purse he was with.
