Chapter 2 - Prologue 2

A long, black staff suddenly bolted towards him and it stopped once it was in his grasp. The black staff's length shrank once it was on his left hand, and IDIOT swung the staff, making it dance around his body with his hands.

The bald monk was not shaken and merely grinned.

Suddenly, IDIOT's instinct screamed, but, before he was able to react, a sharp cold weapon appeared below him, extending from his chest. He lowered his head and blood flowed out of his lips.

A thin sword penetrated exactly on his heart. IDIOT was so familiar with the sword, and he did not even need to turn his head to know who exactly the sword belonged to.

He mocked, "So the almighty Murim Leader himself came just to kill me?"

"You are spouting nonsense, Ixcahua," said the cold, middle-aged voice behind his back.

IDIOT chuckled, ignoring the pain as the sword was being pulled.

He said, "Although I appreciate you all calling me by my first name, I would never ever forgive you."

What the Murim Leader and the bald monk were wary of Ixcahua the most was when he entered the berserk state.

As expected, Ixcahua lost his reasoning and went berserk. A battle erupted, as a result. For a day of constant battle, the beautiful woman was forced to participate as he was ordered by the Murim Leader.

She could not go against the words of the Murim Leader. She was bewildered, however, of how it did not make sense that the Murim Leader and the bald monk, the leader of the buddhist faction, were not able to murder Ixcahua by themselves.

They all stood at the peak of the murim, but she felt like Ixcahua was an entire different realm. Ixcahua was already injured and yet the bald monk and the murim leader still failed to kill him in a single day?

The beautiful woman instantly speculated that the real reason the bald monk and the Murim Leader wanted to kill Ixcahua was due to his power.

The beautiful woman's perception of Ixcahua changed, but it was not enough to convince her to save the injured Ixcahua.

His death was only a matter of time.

After three days and three nights of battle, when the bald monk and the Murim Leader finally went all out two days ago, Ixcahua finally exhausted himself and fell from the skies.

The bald monk and the murim leader snorted, staring at the falling Ixcahua towards his destroyed mountain.

All living things that Ixcahua loved dearly on his mountain have long ceased–causing him to be enraged more and desperate to kill the murim leader and the bald monk earlier, but he failed.

He was filled with sorrow, including Yeobui, nudging his cheeks as he fell.

He smiled bitterly. I guess this is it, Yeobui. I hope by the time you find your new successor, you won't forget me.

Yeobui heard his thoughts and cried sorrowfully, communicating with him.

Ixcahua merely smiled as he instantly died when his body collided with the ground, expanding the massive crater created by their battle.

The bald monk and the murim leader had long disappeared, leaving behind the beautiful woman, staring at the enormous crater and the disfigured body of Ixcahua.

In the end, she sighed and followed the bald monk and the murim leader.

Unbeknownst to them, as soon as they disappeared, Yeobui, who remained quiet, finally decided.

The black staff suddenly transformed into a child filled with tears, staring at Ixcahua. He then hugged Ixcahua, smiled, and then pulled out his soul. He tilted his head upward, and said, "Mother, please save his soul."

An enormous beautiful, thick woman manifested out of wind. She levitated above the crater with a sorrowful expression, staring at Yeobui.

When she stared at Ixcahua, her eyes were filled with disdain.

She said, "What do you wish to save on this sinful soul, Yeobui? Let this man rest in peace."

Of course, there was no peace for someone who accumulated a lot of bad karma. She badly wanted to say it, but she knew Yeobui would only suffer more from misery.

I can't afford to let this child suffer more. He'll eventually move on.

"Mother!" Yeobui cried. "Please save him. Even at the cost of my life!"

The Mother felt conflicted. She was a spirit of the Murim world and Yeobui was one of her sons–a weapon born with spirit.

She already swore to comply with whatever her son's wishes before, as she loved them deeply.

In the end, she sighed in resignation. "I really can't save him now, Yeobui. There's no such thing as resurrection, but…"

"Please, mother!" Yeobui cried, embracing the soul of Ixcahua, seemingly fading. "Whatever it is, as long as he manages to live, that all matters!"

"You are so foolish, Yeobui." Her Mother's tone was filled with sadness. "This man had already lived his life to the fullest. What's more he wished? He might even be furious at you for giving him a life he did not want."

Yeobui was taken aback, now hesitating. What his mother said made sense. Suddenly, his journey with Ixcahua flashed on his mind, playing like a film.

He shook his head and said in a firm tone, "No, knowing him, he might have regrets, especially now he did not die in peace. I'm sure he wanted to live and make up for it."

"Even if it is not in this world?"

Yeobui was startled. However, he still resolutely nodded.

The Mother sighed helplessly and then waved her hand. The energy in the Murim world suddenly gathered around the crater, alarming the murim leader and other peak martial artists who could sense the anomaly.

They hastily tracked the center of the unusual energy gathering.

The Mother said, "I'll sacrifice your life to save him, Yeobui. I hope you won't regret it."

The Mother intentionally delayed the process and was only telling half-truth. However, Yeobui only nodded and waited, causing the Mother to lose hope.

No matter, as long as this wicked person values Yeobui, he will try to revive him in his next life. I will always wish the best of you, Yeobui. Mother loves you.

When the energy gathering reached the peak, the bodies of Yeobui and Ixcahua vanished.

The Mother tilted his head upward, closed his eyes, and a tear dropped from her eyelids.

As soon as the tear fell to the crater, the crater miraculously birthed vegetation, seemingly erasing the aftermath of the battle.

She then disappeared, leaving behind an unexplained phenomena in the history of the Murim world…
