Fated by Heaven to Become a Prince

"Your Highness... my heart feels like a lone boat adrift in a raging storm. If you persist in this way, I fear I shall drown in a sea of dreams."

She spoke with a trembling voice, her flushed lips slightly parted, her hot breath brushing against his face.

"Zhangli, I shall carry you to the shores of heaven with the love that fills my heart. If your boat must sink, then let it sink into my embrace,"

he replied, his voice firm yet gentle as a spring breeze over grassy fields. His hand traced slowly from her waist up her spine, as if weaving a poem with his fingertips.

The water in the tub rippled fiercely, waves crashing against the wooden floor like a storm-swept sea. Their bodies moved in harmony, yin and yang entwined in a dance of destiny.

The splashing water echoed in rhythm with their racing breaths, drops scattering across the floor as desire mounted with every heartbeat.

"You're bold indeed to infiltrate Yuehua Hall to such a degree,"

came the soft voice of a pursuer—a woman, one of Yuehua Hall's secret guards, her martial prowess formidable, though not invincible.

The intruder only smirked beneath the mask and lunged like lightning. His right fist aimed directly at her face, but she deflected swiftly, countering with a strike to his throat. The masked figure ducked just in time, retaliating with a brutal knee to her ribs.

"Urgh!"

The guard bit down her pain, staggering slightly but refusing to falter. Her elbow lashed out, striking the intruder's temple with a sharp crack. He stumbled back two steps, clutching his head—but in the blink of an eye, he charged again.

Fists, elbows, knees, and feet clashed in a fierce storm of blows. The air trembled with each strike, dust swirling under the moonlight. The intruder swept a kick at the guard's legs, but she leapt clear, slamming her palm onto his shoulder. He reeled, but refused to yield, grabbing her wrist and twisting viciously.

"You vile scum!"

she shouted, wrenching her arm free with an internal burst of qi and driving a powerful kick into his gut, sending him flying backward—yet somehow he remained standing.

They faced off again, chests heaving. Then, gathering his strength into his right palm, the intruder lunged.

"Thwack!"

The blow drove her to one knee. Seizing the moment, the intruder vaulted over the courtyard wall and vanished into the night.

The scene before Qi Dongyang was unexpectedly breathtaking. Liu Zhangli, the ever-present shadow who served as his personal guard, sat in silent meditation, as still as a white jade statue. Her delicate face, serene as a budding lotus untouched by morning dew, was bathed in a gentle aura.

She was cultivating her qi, following the secret techniques he had taught her. Threads of energy flowed smoothly through her body, and a mist-like aura floated above her head, as if heaven and earth had fused into one.

Suddenly, her eyes snapped open, sharp as an eagle's. Her slender hand brushed against the sword lying beside her, moving with the grace of breath itself.

In a flash, the sword soared through the air like a bolt of lightning. Its icy glint sliced the air, headed straight for Qi Dongyang at a speed beyond human perception. The sound of the blade's flight sang a deathly tune.

Yet he merely smiled—a calm, spring-like smile. With a gentle flick of his sleeve, the sword spun and tumbled harmlessly.

Stepping forward, he caught the falling blade by its hilt, just before it touched the ground—every movement fluid, elegant, like a dance between wind and shadow.

"Your Majesty, the Eastern Sea province falls under Minister Huang Ti's jurisdiction. If I were to act without proper authority, it might be seen as overstepping my bounds and disrespecting the responsible official. Thus, I have always awaited Your Majesty's command before intervening."

Qi Dongyang's response was like cool water on the Emperor's raging fire—but instead of soothing the flames, it only fueled His Majesty's fury.

"Endless excuses!"

the Emperor roared.

"While the people suffer, you quibble over titles and duties! Have you forgotten your loyalty to the people, Dongyang?"

Qi Dongyang bowed slightly, accepting the rebuke without protest, though his gaze remained steady and cold as stone.

The Emperor turned sharply to Minister Huang Ti, whose crimson and gold robes strained against his corpulent frame.

"Huang Ti, are you aware of this matter? And if so, what actions have you taken?"

Minister Huang Ti dropped to his knees, clasping his hands tightly as if afraid they might fall apart.

"Your Majesty! I have faithfully overseen Eastern Sea. The people are content! I have received no complaints—no floods, no disasters, no missing children! I beg Your Majesty for mercy! I shall investigate immediately!"

At that moment, Li Zhiyuan stepped forward, eyes blazing with determination.

"Your Majesty, I must object! There is clear evidence that citizens of Eastern Sea submitted petitions to Minister Huang Ti's office—but those who dared complain mysteriously vanished afterward. If the Minister claims ignorance, then something sinister is surely at play! Someone is covering up the truth within Eastern Sea, without doubt!"

Li Zhiyuan's words struck the hall like thunder.Minister Huang Ti's face drained of color; his hands trembled visibly. The Crown Prince, standing aside, smirked faintly, lost in thought. As for Qi Dongyang, he watched with chilling calm—the gleam in his eyes hinted that he knew:The chessboard was about to turn.
