Chapter 6 - ep:6- THE SUDDEN SPARK

[Scene: School Hallway — Break Time]

The bell rings for break, and the hallway floods with students laughing and running around.

Hana, holding a book close to her chest, tries to dodge through the crowd.

Ha-joon, trailing a few steps behind her, glares at her messy hair flying everywhere.

"Ugh, can't she just stay still for once?" he thinks, rolling his eyes.

But before he can finish being annoyed —

A soccer ball comes flying like a missile from the sports ground.

It's so fast, so sudden —

Someone screams:

> "HEADS UP!!"

Hana turns — freezes — the ball is coming straight for her.

Without thinking — no hesitating —

Ha-joon grabs her wrist HARD and pulls her straight into him.

THUD.

Her small frame collides with his chest.

The book drops to the floor.

For a moment —

Everything.

Just.

Stops.

Hana's face is buried in Ha-joon's hoodie.

She can hear his heart hammering like crazy.

Ha-joon feels her hands gripping his sleeve without even realizing it.

They're breathing the same air.

He can smell the faint vanilla scent from her shampoo.

She feels the strength in his arms, still holding her like she might shatter.

Neither of them says anything.

No one moves.

The chaos of the hallway fades into nothing but their racing heartbeats.

Then — awkwardly, Ha-joon realizes what's happening.

He jerks back, face burning, dropping her wrist like it's on fire.

> "W-Watch where you're going, idiot," he stammers, eyes darting anywhere but at her.

Hana stares at him, wide-eyed, face flaming red.

Her heart is pounding so hard it hurts.

She clutches her wrist where he touched her, still feeling the heat.

---

[Meanwhile: Si-hun's POV]

From a few steps away, hidden behind a group of boys, Si-hun sees everything.

His hands clench into fists at his sides.

His chest tightens.

"Why… why is she looking at him like that?"

"Why does it feel like… she's already slipping away?"

He watches silently, jealousy and sadness mixing into something sharp and bitter in his gut.

---

[Back to Ha-joon & Hana]

The teacher shouts from the classroom:

> "Break's over! Back inside, everyone!"

Still flustered, Hana bends to pick up her dropped book.

Their hands almost touch — and both of them flinch back like they've been electrocuted.

They walk back to class side by side, awkwardly silent, trying so hard not to look at each other —

but inside?

Their hearts are screaming.

Seems like si hun has a crush on hana , why is he jealous of their interaction. Guess they're gonna face issues in the future.

[SCENE 2: Back to Class — Awkward Desk Partners]

They sit next to each other because fate is petty like that.

The room feels hotter somehow.

Hana tries to focus on her notebook but her hand keeps trembling slightly.

Her pen slips from her fingers.

Without thinking, Ha-joon picks it up and places it on her desk, rough but gentle.

> "Tch. Try not to lose your brain along with your pen," he mutters, looking anywhere but her.

Hana opens her mouth to snap back — but when she looks up,

their eyes lock.

For half a second, she sees something soft flicker in his eyes —

something she's never seen before.

Butterflies.

Again.

Hard.

She quickly looks down, pretending to scribble something random.

Ha-joon sits there, annoyed at himself:

"Why the hell did I pick up her pen? Idiot. IDIOT."

---

[SCENE 3: School Dismissal — The Walk Home]

The final bell rings.

Students pour out into the streets, laughing and shouting.

Hana hugs her backpack to her chest and starts walking home, her head in the clouds.

She doesn't notice Ha-joon walking a few steps behind her.

He's also heading home — or so he tells himself.

Not like he cares.

Nope.

They walk in silence, the evening sun setting everything in gold.

Once, Hana's shoelace comes undone. She stops and crouches to tie it.

Ha-joon almost trips over her and instinctively says:

> "Yah, watch where you're squatting, dummy."

She glares up at him.

> "You again?! Seriously, are you stalking me?"

He scoffs, shoving his hands in his pockets.

> "Tch. As if. This is the shortcut."

But after that...

they kinda… walk together.

In weird silence.

Not friends.

Not strangers.

Something weird and thick in the air.

Hana sneaks a glance at his side profile.

Sharp jawline, messy black hair catching the sunlight.

Ha-joon, out of the corner of his eye, notices her glance and fights the urge to smirk.

They reach a small crossroad — Hana's house is to the right, his is left.

For a moment, they stand there awkwardly.

> "Go home safe, dummy," Ha-joon mutters suddenly.

Hana blinks.

Before she can answer, he already turned and walked off, hands deep in his pockets.

She watches him go, feeling something unfamiliar squeeze in her chest.

---

[SCENE 4: Ha-joon's House — Home Life Feels]

At home, Ha-joon finds his mother lying down, coughing quietly.

He kneels beside her and adjusts her blanket.

She smiles weakly at him.

> "Ha-joon-ah... studying hard?"

He nods, brushing her hair back.

> "Yeah, mom. Don't worry."

In the kitchen, as he makes her a simple dinner, his mind drifts uncontrollably —

to that moment earlier.

That feeling.

"That vanilla smell... that heartbeat... Why does it feel like... home?"

He shakes his head hard.

"No. I can't get distracted. I have someone waiting for me... my childhood friend... The one I promised to meet again."

His heart aches weirdly, not knowing yet —

it's already her.

---

[Scene 5: Hana's House — Her POV]

Meanwhile, Hana lies on her bed, staring at the ceiling.

Her fingers still tingling where Ha-joon touched her wrist.

> "Why... does his voice sound so familiar?"

"Why does it feel like... I've heard him call me dummy before...?"

She smiles unconsciously —

then quickly hides her face with a pillow, groaning.

She thinks it's just a weird coincidence.

But destiny is sitting in the corner of her room, giggling evilly.
