Chapter 3 - Episode 3: The Behind-the-Scenes Contributor

"Rock Stone, who suddenly appeared in Chinatown in Lower Manhattan three months ago..." (T/N: Lmao rock stone gahaha)

Since he was borrowing the CIA cover, he needed to act like a CIA agent on duty.

Hoping to establish dominance and set the stage for their upcoming conversation, Coulson, after entering the shop and taking a seat as the guest, began reciting personal intelligence about Shi Xiao Lei.

"So you're here to inform me that I'm being deported?"

Before his dimensional travel, Shi Xiaolei wouldn't have had the habit of casually interrupting others, nor would he have been so "direct" in confronting people with such blunt words.

After all, with his unattractive appearance and intimidating size, if his attitude while speaking wasn't gentle enough, he'd inevitably be misunderstood.

Not wanting to be viewed suspiciously by shopkeepers when visiting a small supermarket, or constantly questioned by police as if he'd just been released from prison.

And to avoid being constantly regarded with discriminatory and disgusted looks, Shi Xiaolei had gradually developed the habit of greeting people with a smile to better integrate into society.

As for why he was being so impolite now, interrupting Coulson before he finished speaking.

First, because this was America, where conversational habits between people differed from those back home.

Second, because there were plenty of ugly big guys here.

Although Shi Xiaolei height and appearance were somewhat fierce, they couldn't be called "extreme".

Combined with his skin color that faced discrimination, to be honest, without showing some toughness, it would be difficult to get by.

Of course, the main reason for such a significant change in his attitude toward people was that two months ago, he had fused with the Barbarian bloodline from "Diablo 2".

Not that this bloodline would negatively affect his personality like the Green Goblin serum, but because fusing with the bloodline had greatly enhanced his abilities, giving him the confidence to not fear trouble.

Naturally, he loosened the restraints on himself and showed a more straightforward side.

"No, Mr. Rock, you misunderstand."

Not at all bothered by being interrupted, Coulson maintained his composure, still wearing his usual gentle smile.

"Ever since you demonstrated your extraordinary abilities, we've been aware of your existence. After two months of observation, we believe you're a gentle person who loves life and would never initiate trouble."

"So, regarding your presence, we've always maintained a welcoming attitude and absolutely have no intention of expelling you from the country."

"Then what was that about earlier?"

Shi Xiaolei raised his hand to rub his bald head, his voice carrying some displeasure.

"Just to remind you not to act rashly, to help you calm down."

Coulson replied.

"In fact, if you hadn't attracted police attention today, I wouldn't have appeared before you."

"Just to help me out of trouble?"

Shi Xiao Lei's face was full of doubt.

"Guess whether I believe that or not."

"Whether you believe it or not, that's the fact."

Coulson nodded with a solemn expression.

"Because we're very clear on one point: your hidden strength is far more than what it appears to be. If such a small matter pushed you onto the path of crime, the consequences would be very serious."

The reason they noticed Shi Xiaolei wasn't because of his fighting prowess displayed in the underground ring.

To be honest, judging solely by the combat ability Shi Xiaolei showed in the ring, S.H.I.E.L.D. had many agents who could fight better than him, and even Coulson himself might not be worse.

Frequent appearances in the ring with incredibly short intervals between matches, and each time he returned to the ring, all his previous injuries would be completely healed.

The "recovery ability" that Shi Xiaolei carelessly exposed, or the "full health revival" ability he gained when leveling up through fighting, as well as the rapid recovery gained from consuming small red potions in the rest room after matches—these were the key reasons he caught the attention of a low-level agent hiding among certain underworld bosses.

As early as his first month in this world, Shi Xiaolei had already drawn S.H.I.E.L.D. attention, though at that time his presence wasn't very strong, and his name hadn't been reported to Director Nick Fury.

By the second month, when Shi Xiaolei exchanged 300 check-in points for his second mystery box and summoned 2B to this world, he truly entered the sightline of S.H.I.E.L.D. upper echelons.

Though beautiful in appearance, capable of thinking and conversing, and bleeding when injured, 2B was still an undeniable intelligent mechanical being.

Thermal imaging during night surveillance showed patterns completely different from humans, analysis of her footprints revealed a weight three times that of human females of similar build.

Although since being summoned to this world, 2B had never participated in combat, nor had she used her advantages as an intelligent robot to connect to networks for profit, and had never exposed the entire set of equipment she carried, successfully concealing her true identity.

But from S.H.I.E.L.D. standpoint, the fact that she "wasn't human" alone was enough to draw their serious attention.

It was from that point that Coulson, who had just completed the "rescue Tony Stark" mission, was dispatched by the "egg head" to become the monitor for Shi Xiaolei family.

Speaking of which, the identity documents for 2B and Kanna were partly thanks to Coulson efforts.

Without his behind-the-scenes help, things wouldn't have gone so smoothly—just as people with severe contagious diseases aren't allowed in public places, to obtain a green card in America, one must undergo a comprehensive medical examination at designated medical institutions.

Of course, if you don't plan to live properly and think a fake green card that can fool people is enough, that's another matter.

The one Shi Xiao Lei paid someone to get for himself was a genuine green card that could withstand scrutiny.

Although the channel wasn't very official, and some steps were skipped in the process, those were just administrative steps.

Important checkpoints like medical examinations couldn't be bypassed with the amount of money he paid.

Knowing 2B would definitely fail the medical examination, and not having enough money to skip this step, Shi Xiaolei had no choice but to find another way—finding a suitable candidate from missing persons lists, having 2B assume their identity, and then applying for a replacement card.

The former could be considered borderline legal, but the latter was outright criminal.

The severity was completely different, as was the price to pay if caught, not to mention the technical requirements.

From the day he had the idea, it took a week, and Shi Xiaolei still couldn't find someone skilled enough to ensure nothing would go wrong who was also willing to take on this job.

In the end, it was Coulson, hiding in the shadows, who couldn't bear to watch anymore and actively stepped in to help, allowing Shi Xiaolei to fulfill his wish and arrange a new identity for 2B.

From a certain perspective, you could say that even the name "Sylvia" that 2B uses now was assigned to her by Coulson.
