Chapter 3 - Setting Sail

"The song of humanity is the song of courage! The greatness of humanity is the greatness of courage!"

Lind stood at the edge of the sea, shouting into the vast blue.

"Waiting for a rescue ship? Yeah, right. In the end, if you want something done, you gotta do it yourself — time to build a boat and set sail!"

"Conquering the seas takes guts—and I've got plenty! If Monkey D. Luffy could do it, so can I! No backing down now!"

"And besides, my preparations are miles better than his. He spent two years training; I spent two years building a proper ship. No way mine's flipping over! I guarantee it!"

Looking at the ship he had painstakingly built by hand over the past two years, Lind nodded in satisfaction.

It had been two and a half years since Lind first mutated that miraculous mind-power coconut tree.

Without even realizing it, he'd spent over two years living in this world. His body had grown too—he was now seventeen years old, right at the standard age for setting out on adventures.

For some reason, no ships ever passed by his island. Eventually, Lind ran out of patience.

So, he built his own sea vessel with nothing but his hands, his strength, and a whole lot of ingenuity.

He wasn't planning to go on a grand voyage or anything—he just wanted to find a bigger, more suitable island to settle down and "farm to the top."

This island was way too small for serious growth.

Without some system or cheat code, Lind knew he couldn't stay here forever—especially not if he wanted to become truly powerful.

Finally, after two and a half years of grinding, he was ready.

It was time to leave the island behind and seek out civilization.

Over the years, Lind had mutated every plant on the island countless times.

While nothing quite matched the insane power of the "Dragon Banana" or the "Divine Dragon Coconut" (names he proudly made up himself), there were still plenty of strong and useful results:

Durian fruits that restored stamina, healed wounds, or toughened skin.

Giant super-grass that could be stitched into sails.

Mega-wood with steel-like hardness.

Strange resins tougher and more airtight than rubber.

Even a miraculous flower that acted like a natural Log Pose, always pointing toward the next island instead of the sun.

That flower, especially, was Lind's ace.

Even in the chaos of the New World, it could guide him without fail.

And of course, Lind's personal strength was now terrifying: he could even fly on a sword, sword-rider style.

If he weren't playing it safe, he could've just slapped together a plank, grabbed the pointer flower, and flown off like a low-budget Taoist immortal.

Still, by the time he finished his ship and realized flying wasn't exactly practical for long distances, he decided to do it properly.

Safety first.

Finally, everything was ready.

"Tomorrow's the day," Lind declared. "Today, one last round of prep. The rest of the stuff here... I'll just leave it as a gift for whoever washes up next."

"Who knows? Maybe some lucky soul will stumble across it."

He carefully packed seeds from all the useful or bizarre mutated plants he had created, storing them safely aboard his ship.

Luckily, the mutations were genetic—plants grown from these seeds still carried special abilities, even if they were slightly weaker than the originals.

Even if Lind didn't need them all right now, they'd be perfect for helping out future crew members.

After all, every farming novel protagonist had a loyal squad of overpowered underlings.

Lind intended to be no exception.

He finished checking supplies:

Plenty of food and fruit.

Barrels of fresh water—thanks to a tree resin mutation that preserved it for weeks.

Fishing gear for catching fresh meat at sea.

Sadly, despite two and a half years of trying, he'd never managed to mutate a proper grain plant like rice or millet.

That would have to wait until he found a real island and bought seeds.

And then there was the "Spring of Life"—a natural rainwater pit he had mutated into a healing fountain.

Sadly, it wasn't portable.

Lind had to leave it behind, though it pained him.

As the moon rose and night fell, Lind sat by the window, staring out at the endless ocean.

The once-shabby shack he first built had grown into a cozy wooden house, filled with handmade furniture crafted through sheer effort and telekinesis.

"I always dreamed of leaving... but now that it's time, I feel a little reluctant," Lind murmured.

"Two and a half years... this place has seen more growth than my entire previous life."

"Who knows if this little house will still be standing when I come back someday?"

"Maybe someday, when I'm old, I'll retire here."

He shook off the melancholy with a laugh.

"No more daydreaming. Tomorrow's the start of something new!"

That night, Lind tossed and turned with excitement.

And the next morning—

"AHH! I forgot something important!"

Standing beside his finished ship, he realized something was missing.

"The name! I forgot to name the ship! And what about a flag? Should I paint something on the sail?"

"In One Piece, every ship has a name... yeah, I need one."

After a moment of thought, he decided:

"The Laisherni! Freedom in the winds!"

And for the figurehead? A mighty roc bird, symbolizing boundless freedom.

Without wasting any time, Lind painted the ship's name in bold red letters with special resin, and hand-painted a majestic roc on the sail.

Everything was finally ready.

"Raise the sail!" Lind shouted, grinning from ear to ear.

With a flick of telekinesis, the ship's anchor lifted, the sail unfurled, and the ship glided smoothly toward the next island—the pointer flower leading the way.

Telekinesis truly made everything easier.

Without it, he'd never have been able to pull off something this crazy.

Maybe he really did save the galaxy in a past life, to be blessed with such ridiculous luck.

Standing proudly at the bow, Lind stared out over the calm seas.

His heart raced with excitement and fear.

He was confident when he stood on land—but now that he was actually out here, doubts crept in:

Could his powers withstand the New World's insane weather?

Could he defend himself against fearsome pirates?

"Please... all I ask is to find a small island with people," he whispered.

"Somewhere to farm, train, and grow stronger."

"If there's a place to study swordsmanship, even better."

Because honestly, while he had learned basic sword-riding techniques through trial and error, he couldn't even produce a proper sword aura yet.

"At this rate, I'm better off as a long-distance sniper than a real swordsman," Lind joked.

"Flying sword attacks? Sword beams? Yeah, thanks for nothing, Oda!"

"If it comes to that, I'll just become the One Piece world's version of Detective Dee—only instead of flying throwing cards, I'll use flying swords!"

Days at sea were boring.

Lind found himself spacing out a lot, occasionally using his telekinesis to fish or pluck seabirds from the sky.

Every now and then, he tested his mutation powers on the catch of the day, just for fun.

Would it affect the ocean's ecosystem long-term?

Lind honestly didn't care.

Maybe this was just the true spirit of an unrepentant chaos gremlin at work.
