Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Chapter 1: This Is Not Scientific

The librarian of Jiang City Library was a woman with a bit of curiosity. She stuffed the book in her hand into the bookshelf according to its number and looked towards the window, immediately spotting a woman sitting there.

In front of her were two piles of books, almost tall enough to cover the upper half of her body.

It had been a month already.

That woman came here to read every day, arriving punctually at eight in the morning and leaving at five in the evening. She was an odd one.

During this month, the woman's reading content covered various aspects, from natural sciences to social sciences, from folklore to novels.

Like a naive person trying to understand this world.

She shook her head and sighed. Unsurprisingly, when she looked over again, a young man was already sitting beside the woman.

The man had delicate features and fair skin. He took out his phone and said something shyly to the woman. Then, the woman shook her head coldly and didn't speak again, burying herself in her book, ignoring the person beside her.

The young man sat for a while longer. Seeing that there was really no response from her, he had no choice but to leave, red-faced and embarrassed.

The librarian was already accustomed to this. In fact, she first remembered Wang Zhao because of her good looks.

The woman's features were elegant and subtle like a landscape painting. Her overly pale skin made her pair of eyes appear even more pitch-black. Her slender fingers held out an ID card to her, saying she wanted to apply for a library card.

Her voice was soft and indifferent.

Such a person looked unapproachable.

At least in this short month, under her watch, no less than ten men had failed in their attempts, not to mention the situations she didn't see.

However, Wang Zhao, sitting by the window reading, had no interest in worrying about whether others were hurt by her coldness.

The story began two months ago. Somehow, she woke up in this world, lying in a hospital bed. She felt nauseous at the slightest movement. The doctor said it was a mild concussion caused by a car accident and that she should rest well in bed.

At that time, Wang Zhao's mind was in chaos. Whenever she tried to recall, her head was like a projector, with blurry fragments flashing through her mind incessantly, causing severe pain. Afterwards, to recover, she had to settle down and think about nothing, lying in bed for half a month before she could finally get up.

Once she could get out of bed, Wang Zhao couldn't stay still. However, she couldn't remember her past memories no matter how hard she tried. Everything seemed veiled. That day, her parents weren't around, and feeling bored, Wang Zhao snuck out of the ward. She went downstairs intending to buy some things from the supermarket, but ended up seeing a man with a big belly in the hospital lobby.

At first, she didn't think much of it, assuming some illness had caused the man's swollen belly. After all, there were numerous strange diseases in the world. But later, as she walked past, she heard a middle-aged man quietly asking about the other's due date, saying he looked like he was about to give birth. At that moment, Wang Zhao couldn't describe her reaction to hearing those words.

Shocked? Stunned?

It felt like a dream.

When she came to her senses, her first thought was that this wasn't scientific.

That man was pregnant?

Could it be that the medical technology in this world had advanced to the point where men could give birth?

Various thoughts flashed through her mind, her entire worldview collapsing and reshaping.

That day, she sat at the hospital entrance for a long time, watching the coming and going crowds. Across the street, a huge billboard hung on the shopping mall, featuring a male celebrity endorsing "mother and baby products".

The male celebrity looked good. His features exuded gentleness, very suitable for this endorsement.

This world seemed to have its yin and yang reversed. It was at this moment that Wang Zhao recalled the strange feeling she had always ignored when observing her original self's parents' interactions.

It turned out that the male-domestic, female-dominant arrangement in their family wasn't an exception, but the norm in this world.

Author's Note:

Just writing for fun~

(I've started several stories, but always felt the beginnings weren't good. Now I'm relaxing my mood)

A different female-dominated world (I should list the warnings: this story includes male pregnancy)
