A small figure darted through the trees in the forest surrounding Konoha. It was Tengen.
He knew a standard signal might come with complications, but fortune favored the bold. Besides, this was Konoha's territory, other ninja villages wouldn't dare act too brazenly.
Plus, since acquiring the Sharingan, Tengen's strength had grown.
He could now take down an average chunin. As for jounin, well, it wouldn't be that bad, right?
The signal's location wasn't far from the village.
Minutes later, Tengen halted.
"This is the spot." He scanning the area. No one around, pure luck.
With that, he settled beside a large tree, the signal's epicenter.
The reception was swift. As Tengen waited, three figures suddenly landed nearby, just meters away.
Tengen cursed inwardly. Of course, the system wouldn't make a standard signal this easy.
He spotted an upside-down exclamation mark on their headbands, the emblem of the Sunagakure. Sneaking into Konoha's outskirts like this wasn't for diplomacy. They'd have entered openly if it were.
They were either on a covert mission or spies.
Tengen relaxed slightly, noting they didn't seem exceptionally strong, likely chunin, no jounin among them.
But another issue irked him. The long-dormant task system, which he'd nearly forgotten, had sprung to life.
[Eliminate the three Suna-nins to receive half a standard Dragon Ball video fragment.]
Dragon Ball, huh? Tengen's interest piqued. Even a sliver from that universe could be game-changing. Its Earth alone boasted terrifying technology.
"Alright." Tengen's eyes sharpened. He leapt, just as a transparent blade sliced through the tree.
He'd been spotted.
…
"Any findings in Konoha?" A Suna-nin with a headband asked.
"None, sir." His two companions replied.
"So, it really wasn't Konoha's doing?" The lead ninja frowned.
"We can keep investigating." The other two said solemnly.
"Fine, but first, deal with someone." The lead ninja said abruptly, startling his subordinates. Though a chunin, he was near jounin-level, a top-tier chunin with clout in the Sunagakure.
His hands flashed through signs, summoning a blade of light that shot toward Tengen's hiding spot.
"Wind Release: Wind Cutting Technique!"
Crash!
The tree toppled, revealing Tengen, kunai in hand, glaring warily.
"Just a kid." The Suna-nin sneered. "Probably still in the academy. But since you've seen us, we'll have to send you to your grave."
"Really?" Tengen smirked, gripping his kunai. "Let's see who fucked up, you or me."
He flung several kunai at the trio.
"Too slow." The Suna-nins dodged effortlessly.
"Oh?" Tengen blurred, appearing before one ninja, whose eyes widened at his speed.
"Leaf Whirlwind!" Tengen's legs unleashed a tempest, engulfing the ninja in a barrage of kicks.
Bam! Bam!
The Suna-nin was blasted back, crashing into a tree.
As Tengen moved to press the attack, a gleaming kunai streaked toward him like a star in the night, forcing him to abandon pursuit.
"Impressive." Tengen deflected the incoming kunai, the force pushing him back slightly.
The lead Suna-nin charged, his kunai aiming for Tengen's vitals.
Clang! Clang!
Their kunai clashed, sparks flying. Their rapid movements left the other two Suna-nins in awe; this was a peak chunin-level duel they couldn't join.
And they were chunin too, albeit average ones.
Clang!
Tengen and the lead ninja's kunai locked, their gazes meeting, brimming with killing intent.
The force sent both skidding back.
"Impressive, kid. You must be one of Konoha's prodigies. I've heard of a genius named Kakashi. Is that you?" The Suna-nin said, pausing his assault.
"I'm not Kakashi." Tengen shook his head.
"No matter. At your age, with this strength, you're a terrifying talent. We couldn't touch you in Konoha, but you've walked right into our hands." The Suna-nin said, his eyes glinting with cold intent.
He'd sensed Tengen's power. If this kid grew, he'd be a formidable foe for the Sunagakure.
"You're not bad yourself, but I'm not dying here today." Tengen replied, unshaken.
"Oh? I haven't even gone all out." The Suna-nin sneered, vanishing and reappearing at Tengen's side.
"So fast, faster than before!" Tengen swung his kunai.
Clang!
Their weapons met, the overwhelming force driving Tengen back. The ninja hadn't lied; he'd been holding back.
