Chapter 1 - SLOW BURN

"Oh god," Jay groans, stretching his arms and legs as he sinks deeper into his comfy bed. The sunlight streams through the corner of the window, filling his room with warmth.

He slowly opens his eyes, a content smile creeping across his face as he recalls the fun night he had drinking with his roommates.

Still half-asleep, he grabs his phone before even fully opening his eyes. Running a hand through his messy hair, he sniffs the air, sits up, and pushes the blanket off.

He notices a message from Jungwon.

The text:"I made breakfast for you. Eat well!"

Jay quickly types, "Thanks! When will you be home?"

After sending the message, he gets up and heads straight to the bathroom.

Just then, Niki, one of his roommates, enters Jay's room, adjusting his tie as he passes by.

Niki: "Jay, you finally woke up?"

Jay: (shouting over the sound of running water) "Yeah, I'm getting ready!"

Niki: "We're gonna be late! Hurry up!"

Jay: "I'll be there in a minute. You go ahead and serve breakfast."

Niki: "Okay." (He heads to the kitchen)

Niki catches a whiff of the food and smiles. "Wow, it smells amazing," he mutters to himself as he sets the food on the table.

Sunghoon emerges from his room, walking to the table and sitting down.

Niki: "Did you buy a new pair of socks?"

Sunghoon: "Damn, I forgot again."

Niki: (sighing) "When are you going to buy them? You forget every day."

A few minutes later, Sunoo comes out of his room, joining the others at the table.

Sunoo: "Where's Jay?" (He takes a bite of his food)

Sunghoon: "The food isn't going anywhere, Sunoo." (Teasing him)

Sunoo rolls his eyes, used to Sunghoon's teasing.

Finally, Jay walks out of his room.

Jay: "Good morning, Sunoo!"

Sunoo: (smiling) "Good morning, Jay."

Sunghoon: "I'm here too, Jay."

Jay: (laughing) "Well, you don't deserve my good morning." (Teasing him)

Sunoo chuckles, looking at Sunghoon with a grin.

Sunoo: "Where's Jungwon?"

Jay: "He already left."

Sunghoon: "Ah, that's why Jay is so calm."

Jay: (groaning) "It's the hangover, man."

Sunoo smirks, knowing exactly what Sunghoon is hinting at.

Jay blushes slightly, thinking of Jungwon, his roommate who shares a bedroom with him.

Niki: "This food is too good. If nothing works out in the future, I'm opening a restaurant with Jungwon."

Sunghoon: "I'll make sure to avoid that street at all costs."

Jay shoots Sunghoon a mock glare.

Sunghoon grins widely, like a mischievous child.

Sunghoon: "Come on, guys, it's all in good fun."

Sunoo: (scoffing) "Close your mouth, please."

Sunghoon: (pushing his empty plate toward Sunoo) "Wash my plate too."

Sunoo: (looking at Sunghoon, annoyed) "You—"

Jay: "Alright, enough of that. We're going to be late for college if we keep chatting here all day."

Niki, Jay, Jungwon, Sunghoon, and Sunoo are roommates.

Jungwon works part-time at a café, so he isn't going to college today

The day ends with a lot of college work weighing heavily on everyone's shoulders.

As everyone walks through the door, Sunoo stretches his arms, while Niki unlocks the front door. The delicious aroma of food greets them from the moment they step inside.

Niki: "Jungwon's back."

Jay quickly kicks off his shoes and rushes into the house. In the kitchen, Jungwon is busy stirring a pot of hot soup while scrolling through his phone.

Jay: (playfully) "I told you not to use your phone while cooking." (He places a hand on Jungwon's waist and takes the phone from his hand with his left hand)

Jungwon looks up and smiles brightly.

Jungwon: "You're back!"

He doesn't notice the others standing in the kitchen until Niki speaks up.

Niki: "We're back too."

Jungwon turns around, flashing a smile at everyone.

Sunoo: "Woah, that smells amazing. I'm already drooling."

Sunghoon: "Yeah, me too." (He looks at Sunoo)

The room bursts into laughter at Sunghoon's comment. Sunoo glances at him, confused.

Sunoo: "What exactly are you drooling for?"

Sunghoon: "Food, obviously."

Jungwon: "The food will be ready in about 10 minutes. Go freshen up and come back."

Jay and Jungwon both turn back to the stove, with Jungwon stirring the soup while cooking rice on the other side.

Jay: "Did you get some rest?"

Jungwon: "Yeah, I did."

Jay: "Do you need help with anything?"

Jungwon: "No, just go freshen up and come back."

Jay: (teasing) "Freshen up just to eat?"

Jungwon: "Yeah, what else?"

Jay: (laughing) "I was hoping to eat—"

Sunoo: "Sunghoon, go clean your bed. You didn't even fold your blanket after waking up."

Jay clears his throat and heads to his room.

He washes his hands and face, changes into a black t-shirt and pants.

A moment later, Jungwon enters the room.

Jungwon: "Come on, let's eat."

Jay: "Coming." (Smiles)

The group sits down to enjoy dinner together.

After finishing, Sunoo grabs a face mask and begins watching TV. Sunghoon takes a call with his mom, then walks into the living room. He smoothly makes his way to the seat next to Sunoo and snatches the remote from his hand.

Sunoo: "Sheesh, let me watch TV in peace!"

Sunghoon: "Let's watch sports."

Sunoo: Bruh, I'm watching a show right now. Can't you see?

Sunghoon: Don't call me bro.

Sunoo: It's not bro; it's bruhhh. Anyway, why shouldn't I?

Niki: Eat these fruits, you guys. Why do you always fight?

Jay: Goodnight, everyone. I'm heading to bed.

Jungwon: Who's going to wash the dishes, Jay?

Jay: Sunghooooon! (He looks at Sunghoon with a cute expression.)

Jungwon: You skipped out on the chores last time too.

Sunghoon: Oh, look at Jungwon being all strict.

Sunoo: Just go wash the dishes, Jay.

Jungwon settled beside Sunoo in the corner of the sofa.

Jay: Alright, fine.

Jungwon headed to the bedroom while Jay started washing the dishes.

Jay: Are you sleeping? (He entered the bedroom after closing the door.)

Jungwon was lying on the bed, scrolling through his phone.

Jungwon: No. (He looked up slightly, noticing Jay standing at the door.)

Jay climbed into bed and adjusted the blanket over both of them.

Jay: I want to sleep; I'm so tired.

Jungwon: Okay. (He continued scrolling.)

As Jay nestled close to him, he rested his right hand on Jungwon's shoulder and kissed it gently.

Jungwon: You said you were sleepy.

Jay opened his eyes slowly, taking in Jungwon's cute face illuminated by the soft glow of his phone screen. He noticed Jungwon's dimple and the dryness of his lips.

Jay: Why are your lips so dry?

Jungwon: (Touching his lips to check) Oh, they're dry as hell.

Jay moved a bit closer, resting his chin on Jungwon's shoulder, and began to suck on Jungwon's lips slowly, moistening them with his saliva.

Jungwon let out a soft moan.

Jay: Well, that definitely turned me on…

Jungwon blushed, trying to hide his face.

Jay gently lifted Jungwon's chin so he could see his expression clearly, running his hands to Jungwon's neck and holding his cheeks.

The urge to kiss him lingered in the air, their hands intertwined.

Jay leaned in again, kissing Jungwon's lips more deeply this time.

The sound of their smooches filled the room, their breaths mingling and creating a steamy atmosphere.

Jungwon tossed his phone aside and turned completely towards Jay.

Jay: Seems like someone wants this.

Jungwon attempted to pull away at Jay's teasing.

Jay: Oh, come on! I'm just teasing you.

He pulled Jungwon back, hands resting on his waist.

Jay: I want you… now.

Jungwon leaned in closer, pulling Jay towards him.

They eventually fell asleep, wrapped in each other's arms, content and cuddling

Flashback:

Jungwon, Jay, Sunoo, Sunghoon, and Niki decided to live together, their friendship growing stronger each day. Niki's parents had a big house near their college, so they moved in there, ready to start a new chapter.

Jay and Jungwon had these little heart-fluttering moments, though neither of them fully understood what they meant. Jungwon was afraid of rejection, while Jay, though straightforward in other aspects of his life, hesitated because he feared that expressing his feelings could jeopardize their friendship.

When they moved in, Jungwon wanted to stay with Jay in the same room, and Jay felt the same way. But no one knew about their unspoken bond, as neither of them had confessed their feelings. Sunghoon had asked Sunoo directly if he wanted to share a room with him, and Niki preferred to have his own space, making the roommate arrangements an easy decision.

At first, Jungwon was shy and cautious, but over time, they grew closer, more like a married couple than just friends. Jay didn't listen to anyone, but when it came to Jungwon, he'd do anything—he'd even stop a war for him.

One day, Jungwon went out with another friend to buy a book. Jay waited anxiously for him to come back, but Jungwon didn't show up. Jay stood by the gate for hours, repeatedly calling him, but getting no answer.

Jay: "Where are you? I'm coming to you."

Jungwon: "I'm on my way. Don't worry."

The call ended abruptly, and Jay's worry grew.

Finally, Jungwon returned home, and Jay rushed toward him.

Jay: "Why so late?"

Jungwon: (confused, noticing Jay's tone) "I just... Why are you acting so different?"

Jay: "I was worried. Give me your bag." (He takes the bag from Jungwon's shoulders, his hands still shaking with concern) "Did you eat anything?"

Jungwon: "Hey, it's okay. I didn't go far."

Jay: "I'm fine with it. It's just... it was so late."

Jungwon: "The guy I was with wanted me to have dinner. I couldn't say no. And my phone died."

Jay: "Okay."

Jungwon pulled Jay into a tight hug. It was warm, a hug full of reassurance. Jay held on longer than expected, but when he finally broke the embrace, he leaned in and kissed Jungwon softly.

That kiss was the moment they both realized the feelings weren't one-sided. Neither of them pulled away.

As the kiss deepened, the intensity grew.

Jungwon: "We should go inside..."

But Jay didn't want to go inside just yet. He stayed close, his heart pounding in his chest, and whispered softly:

Jay: "You wanna spend this night with me?"
