Chapter Sixteen: A Narrow Escape
In that moment, the girls clasped hands, and a sudden burst of power radiated from them. A brilliant blue and white glow flared up, startling the beasts, though the two-headed beast stood unmoved.
The glow was so Intense that even the Shrouded One, who had experienced it before in his battle with the Queens, was taken aback. He knew they had powers, but not to this extent. He hadn't expected their combined force to be so strong—strong enough to break free from the wind he prided himself on controlling.
The girls were gently lowered to the ground, and in perfect synchrony, they focused their energy and unleashed a burst of power aimed directly at the Shrouded One. But just as they did, one of the beasts, reacting instinctively, lunged in front of them, sacrificing itself to protect its master.
The beast was struck and fell to the ground, its body splitting in two. The gruesome scene of its organs spilling onto the ground was a horrific sight, the earth stained with its blood. The Shrouded One, momentarily stunned, watched as his beast died in front of him. His shock quickly turned to fury.
"How dare you kill my brother!" he roared, his eyes glowing a deeper red, almost as if flames were burning behind them. Smoke poured from his mouth in a sign of his barely-contained rage.
