As he lies there with his eyes closed, the sun starts to creep through his window, waking him. He starts to move, getting up; Seconds ticked by in his mind as he prepared himself for the day.
Then, before he could fully awaken,
"Get up, runt, Father wants to see you"
"Hmm, what's the reason?" he asked
"Who told you to ask questions? You should be happy Father would even spare you his time."
"Some brother you are Cairan"
"Don't Lump you in with the rest of us, Caspian, not even as a joke"
"Yea Yea bastard children share only so much blood Yada Yada, Aren't you tired of that cliché Cairan."
"Enough, Caspian I've wanted enough time conversing with someone of low birth, go see Father at once."
The next moment, he's walking the halls, enduring looks even from the palace guards who should serve him. Though he isn't that naïve.
"Guys, don't you think there's only so much I can take, I can feel your piercing gazes. You dare to look at your lord like that?"
"Sorry, young Lord Caspian, my guards don't seem to know they're place"
"Its fine since you personally Apologized Tarak"
"Ill make sure to teach them a bit better, but i think it'd be best not to leave your father waiting too long, Young Lord."
"You're right, ill head there now"
Caspian, finally in front of his father's doors, knocks.
"Father, I heard you called for me."
"Yes, come in Caspian, There's something we must discuss."
"What is it, Father?"
"I think it's time I speak to you about your mother."
"WHAT DID YOU SAY?" Caspian says loud with aggression
"AFTER ALL THIS TIME CLAIMING YOU DIDNT KNOW HER, YOU GO AAND SAY THIS"
"Calm yourself, Caspian," he says, releasing a powerful pressure
"I'm sorry, father I may have overstepped, but please understand how this can make me feel."
"Yes, boy, I get it, but nonetheless we must have this talk."
"Your mother was a love that i shouldn't have had, Her name was Yemaya."
"As you know, our clan holds much power, and to maintain that power, it's best to keep ourselves within the clan. But your mother was so captivating, I knew I wouldn't see her again, and I committed the grave sin of falling in love with her."
"Why was that such a big deal, father where is she now."
"There's not a single day that passes where I don't live in regret of her being killed, but it was a relationship that my parents couldn't permit."
"YOU MEAN TO TELL ME THAT FOR SOMETHING PETTY LIKE THAT MY MOTHER WAS KILLED, AND YOU LET THAT HAPPEN."
"It doesn't matter how long you live in regret, let it sit with you," he says with a hint of sadness behind his eyes.
"I know it's forever my burden to carry."
"Son, I don't have much time left, so this is my final gift to you, I'm gonna fully explain what you lack from your brothers."
"That cannot be you who is unmatched, is going to die, no one in the kingdom can replace you we'll lose so much power"
"I know that's why you need to hear this. Your mother was a from a nomadic water tribe. You staying here is holding you back from your full potential. That's why you have those deep blue eyes, as if we were to look into an ever-expanding ocean."
"Are you casting me out the family? Just like this."
"No, son, listen, our style here is a power that why you're at a disadvantage, you must go to learn to utilize the full extent of your abilities"
"Your brothers are full of malice once I'm gone, they won't hesitate t rid themselves of you, who they fear is different from them."
"In our clan, we don't chose your name it chooses you, when I was born, I bore the name Ezekiel, meaning God Strengthens. I was born to be strong Caspian is the largest body of water you're meant for so much more than this small kingdom."
"You know what they'll think, Father."
"Who cares what they think, you are my son, They might I have cast you out. Let them walk with your head held high, as you've always done."
"Go create a legacy for your self start something anew and grand, explore the full extent of what you're meant to be. That's my final advice to you."
"As you wish, father I won't tarnish your name ill walk with pride, carrying our family name Leona"
"This will probably be our last time speaking before I pass, so remember that I'm always with you in blood and that your mother never left your side go find your true heritage. Good Bye Son."
Caspian leaves his father's room, not muttering a word, but his expression speaks a lot louder. He won't cry, knowing his father would want him to be strong, but undoubtedly, he will miss his father.
