DD—Chapter 1: Hell Begins
The Pope's Palace. The Council Hall.
"Fuck, why did I ask the Pope to grant me marriage without thinking?"
"I just crossed over; I'm still so young and so handsome, and now it's all over."
"And in the form of a dog licker."
In the expansive meeting hall, spanning over a thousand square meters, a young man held his temple, his head spinning as if he had encountered something truly distressing.
The young man appeared no older than eighteen or nineteen, and his looks were strikingly handsome. He wore a bright red, slim-fitting long gown; his long hair flowed like a shimmering waterfall. His eyes were a pure black, devoid of any impurities, while his tall, heroic and impeccable facial features added to his allure.
If this were his previous life on Blue Star, any woman who caught sight of him would likely fall into unconsciousness.
But at this moment, Qin Xuan was frowning, his eyes wandering around the magnificent decorations that adorned the hall. Despite the beauty surrounding him, he couldn't shake off his unhappiness.
It all boiled down to one crucial fact: he was not from this world.
Just a short time ago, he had been an ordinary young man living in the 21st century on Blue Star, filled with lofty ambitions and boundless passion. Yet, before he could achieve anything, his vision became blank. When he opened his eyes again, he found himself thrust into a strange world.
Seated before him was a middle-aged man exuding an air of authority, flanked by two old men with solemn auras that practically radiated power.
The middle-aged man was tall and strong, clad in golden armor adorned with wing patterns. He wore a nine-curve purple gold crown atop his head, and his fair skin complemented his handsome features. Most striking of all were his golden pupils, which set him apart from anyone else.
A faint golden light enveloped his body, radiating an invisible majesty and sacredness that compelled those in his presence to feel reverence—a mixture of awe and yearning.
Before Qin Xuan could get familiar with this new world, a powerful pressure emanated from the middle-aged man. It surged toward him, sweeping away any sense of composure he had left.
Plop—
In an instant, he was forced to kneel on one knee, beads of sweat forming on his brow.
Turns out the three individuals in front of him were none other than the current Pope of the Spirit Hall, Qian Xunji, and a Titled Douluo whose name had never even been mentioned in the original novel, thanks to being beaten to death and crippled by Tang Hao.
Yet here he was, a member of the Spirit Hall.
Within the Spirit Hall, his talent ranked second only to Bibi Dong, a dazzling luminary who possessed twin martial souls. Because of the unique nature of his martial soul, he had been taken under the wing of two reclusive priests, Jiang Jun and Jiang Long, who had long isolated themselves in the Elder Hall.
Before regaining his past life memories, he harbored a secret crush on the Saintess, Bibi Dong. The depths of his frustration grew each time he witnessed her flirting with a no-good loser named Yu Xiaogang, until one day, he could take it no longer and impulsively rushed to the Pope's Palace.
In an impulsive moment fueled by a collision of memories, he had proposed to Qian Xunji, asking him to marry his disciple Bibi Dong to him.
By the time realization hit Qin Xuan, it was far too late.
Who was Qian Xunji? A man so depraved that he could even force himself upon his disciple.
Even Qin Xuan, who considered himself somewhat of a pervert, recognized the true extent of Qian Xunji's depravity.
In his desperate pursuit to keep Bibi Dong—a woman he deemed ungrateful—he resorted to coercion. Surely, there had to be better methods. Why not say, "Bibi Dong, you surely don't want anything to happen to Yu Xiaogang, do you?" Wouldn't that have been a more effective approach? Would Bibi Dong dare to betray the Spirit Hall?
Or take back everything the Spirit Hall gave her, destroy her cultivation, or just kill her with a single blow.
This course of action would surely have yielded better results than forcing Bibi Dong to remain in the Spirit Hall with bitterness, effectively planting the seeds of resentment.
Did it need to be so extreme?
In the final analysis, it was Qianxunji who was too perverted and mentally twisted. He coveted Bibi Dong's body and treated his disciple as a reproductive tool.
Although every man is lustful, she is your disciple after all.
Contemplating this, Qin Xuan couldn't help but feel an urge to slap himself repeatedly.
Why did he feel the need to be a bootlicker when he had so many other paths available to him?
He possessed a handsome appearance and extraordinary talent.
At merely nineteen years of age, his soul power reached level fifty-four, earning him a place as a disciple under the esteemed priests, Jiang Jun and Jiang Long, who had secluded themselves in the Elder Hall for many years.
Such strength and talent should make him soar, even if he didn't surpass Bibi Dong and the Shrek Seven Devils, who would eventually gain access to the immortal herbs. His aptitude far exceeded that of the so-called golden generation of the Spirit Hall.
Yet, every time he stood before Bibi Dong, he felt compelled to adopt a humble demeanor, almost like a bootlicker.
It wouldn't have been a problem if he had merely chosen not to openly pursue her.
But he was completely subservient, afraid of igniting her anger, so he nearly became a spectator whenever she and Yu Xiaogang shared moments.
No wonder Bibi Dong viewed him with disdain.
Damn it.
He truly resembled a dog licking its owner's feet.
In the end, he had even approached Qian Xunji to propose marriage.
Don't you have any idea? What does Bibi Dong like? Why does she like Yu Xiaogang? Anyone who has read the original Douluo Dalu novel knows.
As the cherished jewel of the Spirit Hall, everyone respected her wherever she went.
Furthermore, Qian Xunji was fiercely protective of her, ensuring that no outstanding individuals of her generation, particularly of the opposite sex, could approach her.
As a result, Bibi Dong remained almost emotionally blank, ignorant of the ways of the world.
Only Yu Xiaogang emerged from a prominent family—the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Family. Inferior and arrogant, his soul power never exceeded level twenty-nine; he was, by all accounts, a waste.
Qian Xunji might have inadvertently lowered his guard. When in Bibi Dong's presence, Yu Xiaogang could easily remain calm, read a few more books, showcase knowledge, and pique Bibi Dong's interest. From there, he took advantage of the opportunity to seduce her soul.
If Qin Xuan genuinely wanted to marry Bibi Dong, he should have gone directly to the two teachers in the Elder Hall. With his body talent that was second only to Bibi Dong—who had twin martial souls—backed by the two high-ranking {priests}—Jiang Jun and Jiang Long—as guarantors, Qian Daoliu would likely have welcomed the union. Even Qian Xunji, the Pope, would have had no reason to refuse.
But now... it was a different story.
Qian Xunji, viewing Bibi Dong as his forbidden delicacy, obviously had the intention to kill him.
The real question lingered: could he even leave the Pope's Palace alive?
Despite having two teachers as backers, they remained loyal to both the Spirit Hall and the Angel Clan.
If Qian Xunji truly sought to kill him, those two would probably only utter a few words of discontent. After that, Qian Daoliu would give Qian Xunji a few verbal reprimands, and then Qian Xunji would continue to sit comfortably on the Pope's throne, waiting to be severely injured by Tang Hao and finally swallowed by Bibi Dong.
Alas, it's no use saying anything now.
If only he could recover his memories sooner.
"My Ah Yin, Xue'er, Zhuqing... some of you weren't even born yet, and now it might all be over for me."
At that moment, Qian Xunji's murderous intentions loomed large.
The vast conference hall fell into an eerie silence. The only sounds were the quiet crackling of Qin Xuan's bones as he bore the weight of the soul pressure and the methodical tapping of Qian Xunji's fingers on the throne's armrests.
Had Qin Xuan merely been an ordinary talented member of the Spirit Hall, a simple lesson would have sufficed, and he wouldn't dare repeat his mistake.
But he was laden with the burden of two powerful and high-ranking teachers.
He understood how much those two priests valued him.
Even his father, Qian Daoliu, had high hopes for him.
Considering the relationship between his father and the two priests, it was conceivable they might support him.
If the two most gifted individuals of the younger generation in the Spirit Hall could unite, it would indeed be a match made in heaven.
Yet, to Qian Xunji, Bibi Dong remained his forbidden fruit, the embodiment of hope for the Angel Clan's strength and future. He must ensure Bibi Dong bore him a child, one who possessed both talent and charisma for the Angel Clan.
No one was allowed to interfere.
Not even the two elders standing behind him.
