Chapter 5 - 5: Naruto

"Why the hell is our Jonin late?!" Naruto bellowed, angry at waiting so long in an empty classroom. "All the other teams already left with their Jonin..." As Naruto pouted, he picked up the chalk board eraser and put it above the door, balancing it just barely for it to stay up there.

"Naruto!" Sakura huffed, planting her foot to the ground. "What are you doing?!" She asks as Naruto snickers.

"This is what he gets for being late." Naruto mutters, crossing his arms before turning to Sasuke who scoffed. "What?" Naruto asks.

Sasuke shrugs. "You really think a Jonin, pillars of a Village, will fall for that?" He spoke and just as he finished, a hand reached through the open crack of the door before opening it, causing the eraser to fall onto the person's head, sending chalk dust scattering.

"Wow..." a Lazy voice comes from the chalks cloud, as Naruto started laughing while Sakura tried apologizing "What can I say..." The person spoke, entering as he dusted the chalk off of his white hair. "My first impressions are... I don't like you guys." He nodded as if agreeing to himself.

'Is this really a Jonin?' Sasuke thought to himself, looking at the lazy expression on the man's face coupled with his unkept white hair. 'Doesn't look really reliable...' He thought.

---

"Let's begin with introductions" The white haired Jonin spoke as they all sat on a roof.

Sakura raised her hand and spoke. "What do you want to know?"

The Jonin shrugged. "Your likes, dislikes, dreams, hobbies... Stuff like that." He spoke but Naruto pointed at him.

"Why don't you introduce yourself first?!" Naruto spoke, his voice as loud as ever while Sakura nodded and muttered.

"Yeah... You look suspicious." She said to which the Jonin sighed.

"Fine." He spoke. "My name... Is Kakashi Hatake. I have no desire to tell you guys my likes and dislikes..." He shrugs, scratching his chin as if in deep thought. "As for my hobbies... I do have a lot of hobbies." Done speaking, Kakashi claps his hands. "Now you." He points at Naruto, who instantly forgot about the lackluster introduction.

"Oh! Oh!" Naruto jumps up. "My name is Naruto Uzumaki! I like cup Ramen!" As he spoke, he adjusted his headband, a wide smirk plastered on his face. "What I like even more is a ramen restaurant that teacher Iruka takes me to."

'What's with all the ramen...' Sasuke thought, glancing at the boy's exposed wrists. 'He seems malnourished...'

"I dislike waiting three minutes for ramen to cook." Naruto continued on, unaware of the weird looks around him. "My dream..." His words die down as his smirk somehow gets bigger than before. "Is to surpass Hokage and have the whole village acknowledge my existence!"

Kakashi stares into Naruto's eyes. They told no joke. 'Interesting...' He thought.

"Hobbies..." Naruto spoke, thinking for a while. "Pranks? I guess?" He spoke, unsure if that counts as a hobby.

"Well done." Kakashi clapped his hands, but no smile was present on his barely visible face as four fifths of it was covered. "Now you." He said, pointing towards Sasuke.

Nodding, Sasuke spoke, his voice low. "My name is Sasuke Uchiha... I have lots of likes and dislikes and I don't have a dream." He said and Kakashi narrowed his eyes. "I have an ambition." Sasuke continued. "To bring back my clan and... To kill a certain man." As he spoke, he gripped his hands together.

Kakashi looked at the boy sitting as he spoke about killing. Usually, he would've scoffed at someone who hasn't killed yet talk about killing, but he felt something about Sasuke's words. He felt the boy knew exactly how he would kill. As if he'd done it before.

"Alright!" Kakashi clapped his hands, grabbing the other two's attention. "Now you." He looks at Sakura, trying to change the shift in mood.

Snapping back, Sakura stuttered. "O-Oh..." She glanced at Sasuke's back and shook her head. "I'm Sakura Haruno." She said and stole glances at Sasuke. "The thing I like... Or the person I like... Oh Jeez!" She covered her face with her hands, flustered before lifting her head again. "And the thing I dislike is Naruto!" This time she completed her sentence, earning a 'Hey!' from the disliked boy.

"My hobby is..." She goes back to being flustered, glancing at Sasuke.

"Oh boy..." Kakashi muttered, sweat dripping from his forehead. "That's all for today." He suddenly announced, catching their attention. "Tomorrow we will begin with our duties."

"Oh! Duties!" Naruto hops, excited at the words. "What duties will it be?" He asks.

"We will do some survival training with just the four of us first." Kakashi closed his visible eye, leaning back on the railing.

"Training?" Sakura questioned. "But we already went through training in the Academy..." She argued.

Nodding at her words, Kakashi explained. "This isn't normal training..." He looks into each of the three's eyes. "I will be your opponent. And this survival training seems more like a survival exam..." His words shocked Naruto.

"What do you mean?!" He asked, not wanting to fail another exam after going through the troubles of passing the Academies exam.

"Well..." Kakashi opened his eye. "Out of the 27 graduates of this year... Only nine will be chosen to continue as Genin." He announced. "The rest will be sent back."

"What?!" Naruto's voice boomed. "What was the point of graduating then?!" He asks loudly, pointing at Kakashi as if accusing him.

Kakashi shrugged. "That's just to see who has the potential to become Genin." Standing up, Kakashi went closer to them, handing each of them a piece of paper. "Anyway tomorrow you all will be graded on the training field. Bring lunch but skip breakfast otherwise you'll puke it all out."

As he spoke, he handed the last paper to Sakura. "All things you need to know will be written on here." Turning around, he waved at the three. "Don't be late." He said and vanished in a swirl of leaves.

---

Sasuke sat on his bed, a golden wisp of light within his right hand. "Alright... Let's do this." He said, glancing outside, and taking note of the time right now before bringing the wisp to his forehead.

His whole body lit up in golden before shattering, vanishing from this world.

---

Knock knock

Hiruzen, the third Hokage, looked up from the stack of papers in front of him. "Come in." He spoke and picked up his pipe.

The door to the office opened up, revealing a blonde man walking in, wearing a the green jackets Jonin usually wear. "Sir Hokage!" The man bowed slightly, waiting for Hiruzen's words.

"Oh. Jonin Yamanaka." Hiruzen nodded and the man stood straight. "What do you need me for?" He asks, smiling.

Walking forward, the Yamanaka Jonin places a piece of paper on the Hokage's desk. "The barrier picked up Sasuke's chakra signature vanishing once more." He said simply as the Hokage narrowed his eyes and picked up the page.

"Hmm..." He hummed. "I see." He nodded at the Jonin and waved him off. "Thank you for bringing this to my attention." He said, watching the Jonin exit his office before lifting his hand into the air. "Panther." He said a single word before someone appeared in front of him, kneeling.

"Send word to Kakashi." With these words, the person vanished once more as Hiruzen turned around and gazed out of the window, taking a pull from his pipe. "Where are you going, Sasuke..." He muttered, blowing out smoke.
