King Julian stood atop the great walls surrounding August donning his legendary dwarven steel armour, beside him was his eldest son Samus and his most loyal subject Duke Osmund. "Any news from the scouts yet?" Julian asked in reluctance to his vassal already anticipating the answer.
"None you majesty." Osmund looked at Julian with a resolute expression so as to remind the King that the loyal shield of Urus once more stood at his defence awaiting to repel the calamity which threatens the hard earned prosperity.
"Father, Miss Aprilla has arrived." Samus said as he watched the sacred Mage approach the gate with her devoted disciples, Aprilla despite being one of the oldest living humans retained her youthful beauty, her silky snow white hair and perfectly fair skin was enough to seduce any who did not know her. In the central continent under the authority of the church she was known however as the Witch of Lust despite her chaste nature and lust only for knowledge.
Aprilla shot the King and his entourage a distasteful gaze and after expressing her objection to their presence in her home. That evening the head mages, wizards and scholars along with the nobles and King Julian discussed in great detail everything they had learned about the new savages which had seemingly appeared from thin air in their kingdom and ravaging their lands.
"From our scouts report we can assume they are elves judging by their ears and if not elves then perhaps an orc?" one of the nobles stated only to quickly be shot down by a disgruntled mage "Clearly they are not of the Elven or Uruk race the language they use is definitely not one of recent circulation."
"It's hard to tell since non of us have heard this language first hand, perhaps we can capture one for a more thorough investigation?" one of the scholars said while jotting down notes in a large untitled book.
"How! We've already lost thousands to these things and from the reports not even the veterans of grey lake stood a chance?!" another noble exclaimed fed up with the nonchalant attitude of the practitioners of the tower.
The discusion continued and tensions rose in the room from both sides as King Julian and Miss Aprilla watched on allowing their subjects to engage in a sort of negotiation, proposing methods on how to repel the mysterious threat.
"Your highnesses! It's Urgent!"
Julian lifted his head confused by the sudden intrusion and quickly met the gaze of Aprilla who had done the same.
"We have captured one of the giants, well he sort of just gave himself up actually." the guard looked a bit confused but at the behest of the rowdy nobles and anticipating mages he signalled the knights watching over the chained up beast to enter and as the beast leaned down to enter the hall he was flanked on all sides by the Kings personal Mana Knights.
The noblemen looked at the being in fear and resentment while the mages looked in fascination and awe. The Darkin towered over the humans, his size was incomparable and his mana was unmatched even my Aprilla who was known as one of the 5 Masters who stood at the pinnacle of magic, this made the mages look at his seemingly infinite pool of mana in envy.
"What do you want monster?" King Julian stood up and confronted the Darkin after realizing his vassals had begun to waiver.
The Darkin scanned the room and ignored the King, he felt each of the magicians mana searching for the one described by his liege. His gaze halted upon an intrigued Aprilla and her disciples, the Darkin approached despite the shouts and raised blades of the knights only being restrained by the disciples magic. He stopped and spoke in the Darkin tongue to Aprilla "Tell me girl do you know of our kin, do you understand our rage, will you aid the our liege or resist?" As soon as Aprilla heard the words spoken by the Darkin and realized that standing before her was the legendary warrior race whose name was lost to history she froze in fear as all the legends she had studied came flooding back.
The Darkin smiled and spoke to her again, "You are indeed the one he saw." Aprilla hesitated for a moment as everyone in the room looked at the formidable mage trembling before the monster chained before them, their faces slowly beginning to be filled with dread as those with doubt finally realized the true horror which awaited and others had their fears confirmed.
The Darkin revealed a devious smile while watching Aprilla's expression change upon hearing his words before kackling in glee, "kekeke, Do not be frightened mortal, he truly hates such things. As future comrades in arms I could give you some parting advice if you wish?"
Aprilla hesitantly asked the Darkin in the forbidden tongue, "Surely your liege would accept our surrender? Surely you understand were better to serve you alive than dead?!" he panicking began to rile up the nobles and magicians who could not understand the conversation taking place in front of them, those who could make out parts of their conversation froze and some even fainted realizing what their opponent was.
"What is it saying Aprilla?! Just what's going on!?" Julian yelled in a fit of rage at the sight of his dear friend in such a distraught state, his knights raised their swords to the Darkin who was no longer laughing and looked at Julian and the nobles in the room.
"My advice to you little bird is to show us just how useful you are." the Darkin looked back at Aprilla and started speaking again "Tomorrow the Great Horde will arrive, we have given you enough time to prepare so show us what you have to offer and maybe he will let you live." the Darkin then waived the magic binding from him and turned to the door releasing his murderous mana into the room which caused everyone to fall to the ground in fear and pain many of the non magic users passing out instantly.
"p-please at least t-tell me his n-name?" Aprilla asked while gasping on the ground.
The Darkin laughed heartily as he yelled out while exiting the petrified tower, "All shall weep beneath the foot of Lord Grim the Defiler!!" He then quickly leapt through the courtyard, running up the walls however making sure to not harm any of the soldiers.
