Chapter 2 - Chapter 02 – The School Nurse Looks Like She Walked Out of a Fantasy… Oh Wait

When Haruno snapped back to reality—his actual, physical reality—he found himself lying in bed, staring at the ceiling of his small apartment. No divine realm, no glowing gods, just the quiet hum of morning life filtering through his window.

For a moment, he stayed still, letting everything sink in.

Then, a wide grin spread across his face.

It was real.

His past-life memories? Fully restored. His ultimate dream? Now a reality. His future? A certified rom-com protagonist experience with a guaranteed harem of legendary heroines—because he wished for 100 of them to love him, after all!

With excitement bubbling in his chest, he practically leaped out of bed. No time to waste—he had a legendary high school life ahead of him! He hummed happily as he made breakfast, barely paying attention to his toast as his mind raced with possibilities.

And that's when he caught sight of his school blazer.

The crest. The name.

Sainan High School.

Haruno's heart skipped a beat before pounding faster than ever.

"NO WAY!" He grabbed the blazer, eyes sparkling with recognition. This was Sainan High—the very school from To Love-Ru!

His excitement skyrocketed. This wasn't just a normal rom-com setting—this was prime harem madness territory! That meant…

That meant…

His breath hitched.

Lala.

Lala Satalin Deviluke. The number-one chaos magnet. The alien princess. The adorable genius inventor who turned every day into an unpredictable adventure!

Haruno clenched his fists, practically vibrating with anticipation.

"This is it. It's really happening! My first heroine is about to appear!"

For a guy who spent his past life stuck in a hospital bed, this was the ultimate reward. No more loneliness. No more boring days. His real life was finally starting—just like he always dreamed.

With an enormous grin, Haruno threw on his uniform and rushed out the door.

Today was going to be amazing.

Haruno stepped out of his apartment, taking a deep breath of the crisp morning air. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, and the world just felt different today. Maybe it was the fresh excitement bubbling in his chest, or maybe it was the 100% guaranteed rom-com madness waiting for him at school. Either way, he was practically buzzing with anticipation.

He couldn't help but compare himself to Rentarou Aijou. In The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You, Rentarou had met his first two soulmates on the very first day of school. Would the same thing happen to him? Would he turn a corner and bam—suddenly, a beautiful girl would be professing her undying love to him?

Haruno's heartbeat quickened. Oh man, who will it be first?!

Since this was Sainan High, there were plenty of possible first heroines. Lala Satalin Deviluke was the obvious choice—the pink-haired alien princess whose mere existence turned everyday life into an unpredictable adventure. But there were other possibilities too…

Golden Darkness (Yami)—the stoic and deadly assassin with a love for taiyaki.

Yui Kotegawa—the strict yet secretly adorable discipline committee member—and actually Haruno's favorite heroine in To Love-Ru. There was just something about her flustered reactions and tsundere nature that made his heart race.

Haruna Sairenji—the classic sweet girl-next-door type, and Rito's original crush.

And then, of course, there were Momo and Nana, Lala's younger sisters, each with their own brand of chaos.

Just thinking about it made Haruno grin from ear to ear.

No matter who I meet first, one thing's for sure… today is going to be legendary.

With that thought, he picked up his pace, practically jogging toward school. His dream life had officially begun, and he wasn't about to waste a single second of it.

Despite all his excitement, Haruno still had to endure the thrilling experience known as the high school entrance ceremony. He had been hyped about meeting his first heroine, but instead, he was stuck listening to an agonizingly long speech from the perverted chairman.

Haruno let out a silent sigh as the old man rambled on, his speech filled with unnecessary life lessons and the occasional creepy laugh. Yeah… I forgot this guy existed. He was always the worst part of Sainan High.

Still, as much as he wanted to scan the crowd for his destined soulmate, he held himself back. Now that he had his past-life memories, it was painfully obvious why the god had sealed them away until now. If he had known about his wish too soon, things would have been weird. After all, falling for heroines who were still kids at the time? No thanks, he was glad to avoid that awkwardness.

But now that high school had started, the real game was on.

He had a strong hunch that, like Rentarou, he would need to make eye contact with his soulmates before they realized their connection. It wasn't just about being near them—they had to see each other for the bond to snap into place.

Rentarou himself didn't recognize Meme as a soulmate until her long bangs moved out of the way, letting them meet eyes for the first time. Thinking back to that moment, Haruno felt a mix of excitement and nerves. Would it be that dramatic for him too? Would time slow down, the background turn into a field of flowers, and a chorus of angels start singing?

Haruno straightened up. Alright, eyes open, heart ready. The moment I meet her gaze… it begins!

And yet, as he sat through the endless welcome speech, unable to look around properly without seeming rude, he realized something.

Man, this is going to take forever.

As Haruno's mind drifted between the chairman's rambling and his own soulmate-related speculations, his gaze casually swept over the group of teachers standing near the stage. Most of them looked like your average, responsible educators—people who were here to do their jobs and make sure students didn't cause too much chaos.

But then, among them, stood her.

Ryouko Mikado.

Haruno's breath nearly hitched, but he quickly composed himself. Even if he hadn't regained his past-life memories, he would have recognized her at a glance. That long, silky lavender hair, those sharp, yet kind golden eyes, and a figure that could make anyone question if they were actually in a school and not some kind of fantasy setting. Dressed in a white lab coat over her form-fitting outfit, she exuded the effortless elegance of someone who could be both an eccentric doctor and a top-tier beauty at the same time.

And fans absolutely loved her for it.

Mikado was one of those characters who left a strong impression despite not being one of the main heroines. She had a certain mature charm that stood out in a series mostly filled with high school girls. The mysterious school nurse with a hidden past trope only added to her allure, but what really cemented her appeal was her playful, teasing nature. She wasn't just another background character—she actively played along with the chaos, helping out the protagonists in her own way while remaining an enigma herself.

Even now, she wasn't standing in the front row with the other teachers. Instead, she lingered toward the back, casually observing the crowd with an unreadable smile. Whether it was habit or personal preference, Ryouko Mikado never seemed the type to draw unnecessary attention to herself.

Her golden eyes flicked over the gathered students, briefly passing over Haruno. But given the distance between them, their gazes never truly met. To her, he was just another first-year among many, another face in the sea of fresh new students. If she even registered his presence, it was no more than a passing thought before her focus shifted elsewhere.

Haruno, however, had a very different reaction.

Holy crap, it's her!

Seeing Ryouko Mikado in person sent a rush of excitement through him. His mind immediately flashed back to all the times he had seen her on screen or in manga panels—her effortless coolness, her teasing nature, that lab coat that somehow made her even more attractive. And now? She was standing right there, so close yet still just out of reach.

He couldn't help but smile to himself. This was exactly the kind of moment he had wished for.

For now, he was content just seeing her.

Though, if fate had anything to say about it, this wouldn't be the last time their paths crossed.

Not by a long shot.
