Chapter 3 - Reasons

OH MY GOD, let the Heavens come and take him now!

Comrade Park placed a hand on his chest to control his excessively beating heart. Of course, he still kept chasing Gort around, surprisingly fast for someone his age.

"Boy, stay right there if you think you have grown wings and can now refuse going to school!"

"Dad! Dad! Calm down! Stop chasing me and listen to your son! Don't you think I would have a good reason for doing so?"

"BAH!" Gort Fairbang cursed. "A good reason, my ass! Don't I know the son I have? From young till now, when have you ever had a good reason for your actions?"

Park Fairbang didn't want to listen to Gort Fairbang's nonsense.

Stay here? In Geldhan village? And do what? Eat farts and shit manure?

"Boy, did I ever tell you of the time when I beat a bull in arm wrestling? Just stay where you are and let's see if I can't correct your demonic spirit in you!"

The village was so desolate and bleak that he didn't wish for any of his generations to live in it.

It's true that he—the village chief—loved the village of Geldhan with all his heart.

But that doesn't bloody well mean that he wished for his son and future generations to still be here, dancing around a bonfire in poverty.

"STOP! STOP FOR ME NOW!" Comrade Park was relentless.

Their cat and mouse actions had already caused laughter from the neighbors and those passing by with baskets on their backs.

"Pfft~... Old Park, take it easy on our talented Gort Fairbang."

"Oops… seeing Gort returning, I'm guessing he too doesn't want to go to school like the others who returned."

"It's a shame… The boy has such a good brain but refuses to use it. It's like a man holding fish and still saying he is hungry."

"Tch– If you ask me, he must be the reason why the rest returned. I just hope it was for a good reason."

"What bloody good reason can there be to drop out of school? Mark my words, nothing good will come out of this matter!"

.

Several people laughed, with some gloating at comrade Park Fairbang's predicament.

What's the point of bragging about a genius son when he doesn't even use the brains given to him?

Do you know how many years Park Fairbang has bragged about his son here and there, making their intestines churn with envy for not having such a brainy child as their own?

Whenever Park Fairbang held celebrations for his son entering prestigious schools or getting recognized by many academia's, it always made some people boil with jealousy.

Sure enough, the heavens have eyes, giving the boy brains, but also making him a renowned troublemaker too.

Well, now, they felt balanced in their hearts, even thinking that although their children weren't so brainy, they were still able to go to school and wouldn't dare drop out just like that.

"I say it serves them right for spoiling that boy so much."

"Exactly! Who is to blame, if not they?"

Some neighbors sneered through their windows, enjoying the show with contempt.

Finally, after a hard day's workout, both father and son soon entered their home, moving out of the spotlight.

Anyone could still see that Park Fairbang was livid.

His face had turned an interesting shade of red and purple that made Gort feel that any redder and his father might turn into a tomato.

With both parents seated before him, Gort Fairbang let out a deep sigh with a grim face.

Now, he was serious.

"Dad, Mom… I returned for a grave reason."

Seeing their son's change in countenance now made Gort Fairbang's anger lessen, though he was still doubtful.

In all his years, he had never seen his son with such a grim face. "Father… Mother… I came so we can prepare."

"Prepare for what?"

"Well, what is it? SPIT IT OUT ALREADY!"

Both Park Fairbang and Clare Rei felt their heart skip a beat. And after a brief moment of silence, Gort finally spoke

"Mom, Dad… We must prepare for the flood—a great flood that will destroy the entire world!"
