Chapter 9 - Chapter 9. Andres Christine

Jenn's POV

I heard loud banging on my door, like the world was ending.

"Open the door, Jennnn!"

I immediately jumped up and opened it, panicking—thinking something might've happened to Jas. But instead, I was met with a cute, pouty face.

"I just got back from my morning walk, Jenn. Please make me some coffee," Jas pleaded, making a rabbit face.

"Oh Lord! You know I sleep for 2–3 hours after my namaz," I replied, clearly annoyed.

"I know, but I hate my handmade coffee. It sucks," Jas said, her expression even more dramatic.

I couldn't help but laugh. "Okay, let me make you one."

I headed to the kitchen and made coffee for both of us. I grabbed some cookies we'd picked up from the store yesterday so we could enjoy them with our drinks. We settled into the morning—coffee in hand, cozy on the couch.

After a few minutes, Jas turned to me. "Get ready. Today's the start of our trip, officially! And we're kicking it off with some Manila-style shopping!"

We both loved shopping, so that was the perfect plan.

I went to my room and got dressed. I wore a denim skirt with a black oversized shirt, my Casio watch, a spritz of perfume, a touch of makeup, and my sunglasses. I grabbed my phone and bag, feeling ready to take on the day.

Jas came out of her room shortly after, looking stunning in an A-line purple dress. We hugged in excitement, locked up the apartment, and headed out.

Our cab was already waiting. First stop: a restaurant that was famous for its perfect brunch. (Of course, we'd done our research before coming here.)

When we arrived, the place was even better than expected—chic, elite, great music, and an elegant crowd. Jas was so impressed that she couldn't stop taking pictures of everything. We ordered some Mexican food, and soon after, the waiter brought over two beautifully decorated soft drinks.

"But we didn't order these," I said, confused.

"It's from our boss," the waiter replied with a polite smile. "You don't have to pay for them. Please enjoy."

"Why would they give us free drinks?" I asked.

"Maybe because we're too pretty and they're already in love," Jas said with a wink.

"You and your delusions," I said, rolling my eyes.

"Have it, babe. It's free—just enjoy," she said, diving into her food.

"Actually, you're right," I said with a smirk, sipping the drink.

After eating, we paid the bill at the counter and were about to leave when Jas stopped me.

"I need to pee, Jenn. Wait for me here, I'll be back in two minutes."

I nodded and waited near the exit.

That's when I heard a familiar voice behind me.

"How's the drink, ma'am? Hope you've forgiven me now."

I turned around—and there he was. The handsome Filipino guy with the American accent from the store.

"You're here?" I asked, surprised.

"Yes," he said with a soft smile. "I own this restaurant. I just noticed you today and thought of treating you to something. You got hurt because of me."

"Oh, it was nothing. I'm okay now," I said, showing him my elbow.

"That's great," he replied.

"What's your name, by the way?" he asked.

"My name's Jannat," I replied.

"Oh, what a beautiful name. If I'm not wrong, Jannat means paradise, right? I had a Muslim friend in the US who told me that," he said.

"Exactly, Jannat means paradise," I smiled.

"It suits your pretty face," he said with a grin.

I blushed a little. It was clear he was flirting.

"Yes… thank you," I said softly.

"You won't ask for my name?" he asked playfully.

"Oh! Please, yes," I said, laughing.

He extended his hand to me. "My name is Andres Christine. I'm so happy to meet you," he said, holding my hand—and not letting go.
