Chapter 4 - Ch 4: From Rejection to Acceptance.

I had given up on trying to win my brother over. Our conversations were strained, and things had taken a turn for the worse. One day, after a particularly rough patch, I decided to take a break and focus on finding a new job. I had heard about a betting shop that was hiring, and I was determined to apply.

The trek to the betting shop was grueling, under the scorching sun. The distance seemed endless, and I couldn't help but wonder if it was worth the effort. But my spirits lifted when I met Praise, a friendly guy who assured me that I would get the job. "Just write an application, and I'll give it to the boss when he arrives," he said with a smile. I left with renewed hope, despite the sweltering heat.

As I walked back home, I couldn't help but think about my previous job. I had worked at Betking, but the low salary and delayed bonuses had taken a toll on me. I was hoping that this new opportunity would be a fresh start.

The next day, I received a call from the boss, asking me to come back for an interview. I was nervous but determined. I dressed up, combed my hair, and made my way to the headquarters. The cashiers were busy, but I was eventually ushered into the boss's office.

The interview went smoothly, and I was relieved when the boss asked me to come back the next day with a guarantor. I rushed home to share the news with my mom, but her lukewarm response left me feeling uncertain. I had expected her to be more excited, but instead, she seemed indifferent.

The next day, I turned to my mom's elderly sister for help, and she kindly agreed to accompany me. We arrived at the headquarters, and I was nervous but grateful for her support. As we signed the documents, I couldn't help but wonder if my mom's lack of enthusiasm was a bad omen. But my aunt's words of caution echoed in my mind: "Be yourself, know what you're doing, and be careful."

The boss called me after we left, telling me to start work the next day. Just as I was about to tell him something crucial, he hung up abruptly, leaving me with a sense of unease and unfinished business.

As I walked home, I couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. Was I making a mistake by taking this job? Would I be able to prove myself? And what was I about to tell the boss that was so crucial? The questions swirled in my mind, leaving me with some uncertainty than answer.....
