Chapter 1 - Betrayal

To think that I, Xian Feng—the Son of Heaven, the Heavenly Emperor—would end up in such a pitiful state.

Above him, dozens of immortals hovered in the sky, their cold gazes locked onto his broken body. Among them stood a pink-haired woman, nestled in the arms of another man. They were both smiling. No—laughing.

Betrayed… by the very people I once called my own.

Cough. Cough.

Xian Feng coughed violently, dark blood spilling from his lips. A sword pierced through his chest, pinning him to the cold, unforgiving ground.

The pink-haired woman stepped forward, standing over him like a victorious conqueror. Her lips curled into a smirk.

"It's truly a miracle you're still alive after being poisoned by essence from the Sea of Purgatory."

Her voice dripped with mockery.

Xian's eyes burned with fury. "Li Xu… you treacherous bitch. Never have I treated you unkindly, and yet you betray me with these bastards from the Divine Land... Even my disciples!"

Cough. Cough.

Another mouthful of blood splattered onto the ground, this time blackened with poison.

The man beside Li Xu pulled her close by the waist, a smug grin on his face.

"Don't blame us, Master. Blame yourself."

His voice filled with contempt.

"You thought you were invincible—but look at you now. If only you had shared the Heavenly Star Scripture, none of this would have happened. But no… you wanted to be the only strong one, didn't you? Greedy old fool."

Xian Feng's vision blurred. His eyelids grew heavy.

Damn it... No. I can't die here. I won't.

Through his fading sight, he could see them—his disciples, his dao companion, and the immortals he once fought alongside. All smiling. All waiting for his final breath.

No…

Xian Feng drew his final breath.

"Hey, get up! You can't sleep here."

Huh? Sleep?

"Damn it, kid! I don't have time for this crap. I said, Get the hell up!"

TWACK!

"AHHH!!" Xian Feng yelped, clutching his back. His body ached like he'd been struck by lightning.

Standing over him was an old man, broom in hand, glaring at him like he was the greatest nuisance in existence.

Xian Feng shot to his feet and grabbed the old man by his ragged robes. "How dare you strike this emperor, you half-dead old coot?! I'll hurl you into the sun!!"

The elderly man grabbed Xian's collar in return, veins bulging on his forehead.

"Listen here, you woman-looking little bastard—I'm just doing my job! You're the idiot sleeping in a damn crater in the middle of the street! Where the hell did it even come from?!"

Xian clenched his fists. Why, you insolent—!

He stopped. Something felt… off. His grip loosened.

Wait a minute… I was just in the Divine Land… in the Immortal Realm…

Suddenly, a splitting pain slammed into his skull, forcing him to his knees.

"Ahhh!" He clutched his head as memories flooded in—his betrayal, his fall, his death.

Li Xu… you bitch… My own disciples… I'LL KILL EVERYONE OF YOU.

[Congratulations to the host for awakening the Lord Of Chaos system.]

A screen popped up in Xian's vision, surprising him, quelling his rage.

"Hey, are you alright, kid?" the old man asks.

Xian, still enveloped in the screen in front of him, doesn't even look at the old man and fans him away. "Yeah, yea, I'm fine."

"WELL THEN GET OUTTA HERE; I ALREADY HAVE ENOUGH TO DEAL WITH." The old man yelled, swinging his broom in his face.

Xian got up, brushed himself, and gave the old man a menacing look before walking away.

Xian Feng walked the bustling street; people could be heard gossiping, buildings and stalls were on the side of each road and there was a strong scent of the sea in the air.

Xian rubbed his chin while walking, lost in thought.

How is it possible I'm still alive? I'm sure i died and those bastards made sure I wouldn't be able to reincarnate by poisoning me with essence from the sea of purgatory. My soul should be destroyed, yet here I am.

Xian looked around at his surroundings. From the sheer lack of cultivators and the extremely lacking amount of qi flowing in the area, it seems I was reborn in a mortal realm… Then there's this.

Xian Feng looked up to the screen from before.

"Lord of chaos… sounds similar to "son of chaos… Everything changed after I killed him."

Xian clenched his fist.

No one in the immortal realm was a match for him but I, who was born as the son of heaven, was able to destroy him. After that, the other immortals started to scorn me, fearing me since I was already so powerful after only a hundred thousand years of cultivation while they cultivated for billions, and it was around that time that my first disciple, Jian Cheng, started asking me for my ultimate technique, the Heavenly Star Scripture.

To think those bastards would betray me after everything.

[The Lord Of Chaos System is far superior to a meager son of Chaos (︶^︶)]

[With the lord of chaos system, even a cripple like you can stand at the top!]

Xian grabbed the floating screen, veins bulging in his face. "Who are you calling a cripple? I am the heavenly emperor, the son of heaven, the strongest immortal.

"Given a few more years, I can easily cultivate to the peak of this realm and ascend."

[Not anymore, host.]

[Name: Xian feng]

[Gender: Male]

[Cultivation: Mortal]

[Physique: Divine beauty physique]

[The divine beauty physique makes one irresistibly beautiful. They give off a radiant aura, seducing mainly those of the opposite sex. It also makes one unable to cultivate and is seen as nothing but a curse. (This physique is only ever seen in women.)]
